So I've always been a tank main and would heal when I wanted a change of pace but this time around I feel like maybe putting the sword and board down and letting someone else take the hits might be more fun. I have most classes near 60 and can't decide on which DPS to play. Melee or range? SAM and RDM look great but I'm going to be a hipster and stick to the older classes due to less competition. My favorites seem to be NIN, BLM, and BRD but I can't decide which to play. Thoughts?

Less competition of what? You still sharing gear with other DPS classes and queues not going to do anything about Duty Finder queues regardless if you are a BLM or SAM

My advice: Do stormblood story as a tank, its seriously not worth it as a DPS. i havent seen a queue time <40 mins so far for the 2 dungeons and trial i've done.

With all the RDMs and SAMs running around it's going to be harder for them to find a raid spot when compared to another class that's less played. With all the changes to the classes I'm not familiar with which classes will be brought along for raid utility and such. I know the "wanted" classes used to be BRD, NIN, and MCH due to their support.Quote:

Unless you have a FC tank in your back pocket, you could literally double the amount that of time it would take to clear the content just waiting in DF queues. -

If you can't decide between range of melee I suggest you test RDM, it can do both and you'll feel like a pintball, it's pretty fun
