NIN: Dripping Blades Question

Just wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not the new dripping blades passive now buffs all damage such as raiton, katon, etc.

From what i can tell it affect all of our skills in general so I would assume so. It gives a flat % buff and the tool tip doesn't specify that its "only" certain skills or "not including" jutsu. I've personally not noticed a drop in the damage when i was using them to fate grind to 61 right at the start......If anything it felt like they were hitting harder :)

Awesome. Thanks! I have yet to test out the new ninja stuff but was hoping that flat +20% would be back.

It buffs all actions, which is any weaponskill or ability, but not auto-attacks.

Despite what the tooltip current says it is not buffing the power of any non-physical damage.

Currently in my ilevel 270 gear I get numbers such as:


Raiton: 2934 // Aeolian Edge: 3522 // Hellfire Medium: 3504

This is without the slashing debuff on, by the way. As you can see Aeolian edge is being taken from a 340 potency move to a 408 one thanks to the poison. Raiton itself is 360 potency and is clearly hitting for less, and Hellfire Medium being 400 potency itself comes close to Aeolian Edge's Damage.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or just bad translation. Whatever the answer is, as of right now Dripping Blades is just a passive version of your old poisons.

I heard somewhere that the Japanese tooltip says it buffs physical damage

it seems like the English one is just translated wrong

yay for miss translations :/

It's very disappointing. My testing also shows the damage buff not applying to Raiton or helfrog. For other jobs +damage is +damage; I wish this was the case with nin.

What about Bhava btw?
Cuz its 550 potency but it doesn't involve using the daggers.

対象に無属性魔法攻撃 That is the tooltip in the Japanese for Bhava. These two kanji "魔法" say it is magic damage. Frog has these in it too. So no it would not apply.

This being said I don't know why the Japanese spells out "unaspected magic attack" while the English translation just says unaspected. Why?

Like seriously, SE should have a better translation/localization team.

No. Bhava is.

DwaD = 150X3 = 450 + 20% from trait = 540

Bhava is 550.

But slashing debuff, I don't think Bhava is impulsed by that, right?
And speaking about it, Duality AE is also a competitor huh?

Ah, if you are taken into account buffs that are not passive then yes you have a point.

Ah man. I was getting pretty hyped about how much magic damage nin would be doing if they brought back the old +20%. Oh well though. I'll still be leveling it up and testing it out for raid.

I'd file that under a bug report, with the translation thing up there, so that hopefully they can at least clarify the wording.

Myself and it looks like at least one other bilingual have been posting all the miss translations, so hopefully they fix them all.

I'm a professional translator so hopefully they deiced to offer me a job. ^^

Currently, slashing debuff and presumably venoms apply to Bhavacakra, because it is erroneously doing physical damage according to the patch notes. Not sure why this wasn't fixed in the hotfixes that went out, but whatever...

The 4.0 notes. It's under the Known Issues section, so expect it to be fixed soon.

So Bhava is doing physical slashing damage when it should not? Or its doing magical damage when it should be physical slashing damage?

If it is a "known issue" I would say that it is doing physical when it should be doing magical as the Japanese tooltip says.
