Do something.
jesus lol
i just can't.
it is absolutely amazing when you read the other forums here and then you go here to the english forum.
First world problems to be had for sure
Yeah, why don't you?
There are other games, other things you could be doing with your life than sitting here, cursing SE and/or the game, while staring at queues and disconnect screens.
Do what I did. Shut the game down and try again tomorrow morning.
The playerbase is half of the problem here, they keep throwing themselves at the brick wall yelling and screaming "I WANNA DO MSQ!!!!!!!!!!!!"
SE wants us to just, you know, shrug it off and do something else either in FFXIV or elsewhere until some of the players trickle through it and things go back to normal in a couple days. Seriously, some of you people act like spoiled whining children with their faces all red, covered in tears.
It's not the end of the world. Stormblood will be here tomorrow, it'll be here a week from now, it'll be here a year from now (unless the end of the world or something happens then you got bigger things to worry about).
There's nothing they can do.
Their servers just can't handle this many people. It's not a bug or code that can simply be quickly edited and changed with a quick maintenance. They would have to upgrade their server infrastructure...again... or somehow put together a built in queue system for solo instances so people don't feel the need to spam NPC's, but even that won't help the actual strain on instances in general causing mass disconnects in duties across the board.
When they put out a statement earlier saying they were sorry and to please be patient and wait, it's because that's literally the only thing that can be done. Wait for the wave to subside and relieve stress.
Make no mistake, this is not the players fault. It's Square Enix fault.
That being said. There's nothing us players can do about it, and there's nothing SE can do within reason to fix it outside of suddenly conjuring more server power out of nowhere tonight.
All anyone can do right now is wait.
It's better than not being able to log in anymore >.> http://imgur.com/t7cEu83
I am as frustrated as many others, and there's not one reasonable explanation that could excuse whats happening right now, but opening a topic saying "do something" is as productive as saying the sky is blue. Obviously nobody is sitting around right now, enjoying a late night bbq or some tv shows, laughing at their own customers. Pretty sure somebody is doing something somewhere ;)
Can you please stop with this entitled nonsense you are spewing out? How the hell is people expecting a service we paid extra money for being entitled? really the only one acting childish is you defending SE like they are your dad and you feel like your dad cant ever possibly make mistakes.
sure we can all wait for monday when the servers might be better but then i want my extra 40$ back i paid to play the game early kay?
we paid for a service we are currently not getting because of a ridiculously silly oversight and there is no defending the choice of having an insane bottleneck SO early into an expansion
server issues and bugs are one thing, this is just a plain ole screw up by the dev team.
"It has now been less than a day"
I'm not sure what's worse - the issue itself or the individuals seeking to downplay it and make it seem like this is a giant overreaction on the part of 'entitled' players.
The servers should have been brought down for emergency maintenance the moment the issue persisted for more than a few hours. This isn't the first time that the number of players tackling new content has been sorely underestimated. It's also not the first time that solo instances have crashed and/or been congested.
With that in mind it's not unreasonable to expect the issue to have been addressed in advance. We need updates - to let us know how long they estimate a smooth fix to be implemented. It'll soon have been an entire day since the issue came to light.
More time spent at the Que screen then actually in game...hopes it is fixed soon.
Don't take the blame away from the playerbase, because that's wrong too. We're just as much at fault for reacting so unreasonable (when I say 'we', I mean the playerbase collectively).
Yes, okay, SE's servers could not handle the load. What would you say their fault is? Not having better equipment? lol. That crap costs money. A lot of money. And they already did a Data Center move, and upgrade... what more do you think they could have done instead? They are already trying to lighten the load by letting Pre-Order people go through first, and then the rest later instead of everybody at once...
What more are you saying they should have done ahead of time?
The only thing I'll say is that they could have made the procedures for logging on and disconnect/error handling a bit better. They seem rather archaic.
But again.....
The Playerbase does share some of the blame, for having such unreasonable reactions to the problem. They are actively making it worse as we speak, and have been all day long.
And emergency maintenance to do WHAT, exactly?
It isn't maintenance they need, they need for people to freaking go to bed so that the load goes down. The only thing maintenance will do is FORCE people to do something they SHOULD HAVE ALREADY DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE, and in fact, it will just set a timer for people to clog the servers again. Instead of people trickling off one by one, you'll get everybody logged of, setting their alarms for the maintenance end so that they can all jump back on and crash the servers again and you will have solved NOTHING.
That would be fine, it they actually had anything to fix. Nothing is broken. The servers just can't handle the capacity. Only thing they can do is magically summon more server power.
Bringing down servers for emergency maintenance would solve nothing. When they bring them back up (after fixing nothing) people would simply log back in and flood the instances and cause strain all over again.
Ok, for those of you on your high horses. So. What if there wasn't an early access period? This would've just happened on tuesday anyway, and it may yet still happen as more people will be playing that weren't around for this weekend.
It doesn't matter WHEN these problems happen, the point is they shouldn't happen AT ALL. They've had enough time to figure this out, the data center changes/updates were supposed to be in preparation for this, and yet it's no different than their previous launches.
There's no excuse anymore, none. And if they won't make this a queueable process it's not going to just work itself out until people stop playing long enough for other people to get through.
That the servers cannot handle the capacity suggests that things are, in fact, broken. Especially since it wasn't too long ago that the North American datacentre moved to a different location. This is exactly the sort of issue that should have been foreseen, it's happened before. Some issues are to be expected, yes, but the sheer length of time it is taking for a fix to be implemented is precisely why so many people are frustrated.
Temporarily flag "Let Fill Your Hearts With Pride" (the quest that follows "Best Served with Cold Steel") to be available as soon as you've completed "Signed, Sealed, and to Be Delivered" (the quest that precedes 'Cold Steel'), so that players can bypass the quest with the instance, and go back to complete 'Cold Steel' later.
Do the same thing with the quest that follows "In Crimson It Began" (the Pipin-triggered instance) so that you can begin it as soon as you complete the quest that precedes 'In Crimson', so that players can bypass 'In Crimson' and move on with the story, and come back to complete the instance later on, once things have calmed down.
Continue to do that with any other early-Stormblood quests that involve solo duties, so that none of them will roadblock the entire player base for no good reason. It's a simple enough solution that it could have been implemented already, and could simply be rolled back as early as the official launch on Tuesday, if the congestion issues at that one particular point in the game have been alleviated by then.
Congestion issues are congestion issues, and although you can make the argument that SE should have seen this particular one coming, nobody is expecting them to have perfect foresight. But there's no justification for being this slow to roll out a temporary fix, when the problems the game is experiencing are so laser-focused onto such a small, easily-bypassed portion of the game.
"Y'all need to calm down"
XD XD XD :D Xd lololyoshi so funny!
I hate everything.
I'm glad they told us world transfers would be back up at 4AM BST and it still isn't nearly 2 hours later. No notice on this further delay whatsoever, because why should they let us know what's going on?
Tried to get into an instanced quest, now I can't even go back to the game, after the queue I get 90k'd instantly.
Imply nothing, I'm outright stating it's not nearly as big as a deal as people are making it out to be.
This is what's happening:
https://frinkiac.com/video/S11E12/op...hc_M_KxnA=.gif
Once more people start leaving for the night, the'll be more room for others to get in. And once the other users wake up, they'll be able to get in easier because they no longer have to worry about the people that came before them.
Square did not need to expand the servers just for typical first day congestion. Yeah, people are angry now, but very very very few people would actually be willing to unsub for this. We got around 2 years with this expansion. It's not going anywhere.
No of course, and I never said anything about unsubbing (that's basically a buzzword now), but downplaying the amount of time it is taking them isn't going to help either. I'm not as upset as most of the comments I've seen (mostly because I thought it was happening anyway and didn't expect to play till next week) but I do see where they're coming from.
I get that people are upset, and it's not unjustified to be dissapointed or annoyed; but some of these reactions border on the hysterical.
Some people need to step back, take a breath, and look at this from an analytical perspective.
Why is this happening?
-Too many people trying to enter a solo instance at once.
Why didn't square set up to deal with it better?
-Too much resources for too little return.
How can it be fixed?
-Bottlenecking will reduce naturally as users disperse.
What was lost?
-Personal time investment. Everyone who preordered the game got to play a few days early as a bonus. There was no extra financial cost.
It mostly sucks when you run out of new stuff to do, either through other problems (RDM quest for me is acting worse than Raubahn) or just because they go out and do everything then come back. Prior to that, there's ways to mitigate.
I blame the expanded inventory space
What's ridiculous is that they've updated the lodestone saying "We are happy to announce that the issues have been resolved" yet the constant 90k from queuing anything via solo instances or DF are still happening to everyone for everything, followed by the endless loop of 1000+ lobby queue and 90k again on the loading screen.
I feel like Early Access has been more of a Beta test to be honest. I did not do a single Stormblood thing today. I came on the game at 5am CDT. I played 19 hours. In that 19 hours I unlocked SAM and RDM. The Duity Finder was broke a good chunk of the morning . When it did work and you leveled in PotD you might MIGHT get a run in. For a while it was working well than slowly but surely DC after DC after DC to the point I would DC log in wait for que get to loading screen to DC again. Happened all day long . I didn't even get SAM to 60 its half way into 58 I'm too tired and frustrated to finish it to 60. My plan was Wake up spend a good 8 to 10 hours to get SAM to 60 and rest of time enjoy Stormblood.................Never Happened
Why do you white knight folks keep saying such nonsense? There is a slew of things they could do to fix the problem, some of which incredibly easy and some that would require some effort. But on the super easy side of things: Lower the amount of people that can be online at a time if that is, indeed, the problem(which I'm not sure it is because we have always had a queue that limited access to a set number of players). But if right now it lets in say...5k people? Tune it down to 2.5k at a time. Lower even. Whatever you have to do so that while folks might be waiting in a very very long queue, they can at least rest assured that when they do get online they won't crash right away and can do some of the content.
Explain to me a world where this isn't a solution that would fix the problem and be better than the current nonsense and chaos.
