Anyone seen a date for these in NA? I ended up hating leveling in HW, and just want to buy the story potion and get to the hopefully better new content in Stormblood.
I believe they were scheduled to be released either with early access or SB launch.
There are 2 types of potions, 1 that boosts you to 60(only 1 is allowed to be purchased on the account). The other is the story boost potion which comes with 2 types, skip ARR and skip ARR+HW. All will be available when early access hits I'm pretty sure.
I dont mean to attack anyone, but I'm always a bit curious why people want to skip the story (I guess I can understand it with parts of ARR) when they know that there will just be MORE story with the next expansion. I mean... you want topay money to skip something you dont like, to get to play more content you dont like...?
Can someone explain this to me somehow? I'm sorry, I just cant wrap my head around this >.< I guess everyone enjoys different things about the game in the end and thats fine, but I just dont get this...
In OPs case for example: was it the setting you didnt like and you hope you'll like the SB one better? Or the characters?
Main point, I started Paladin, and did not like how low DPS was to grind through the quests. They took forever. I then switched to Warrior at around 53 in Paladin, there were very little quests to actually get anything done to catch up other than tanking Daily Roulette on my Warrior slightly better DPS. Since then I have grown tired of tanking everything if want to get story or a dungeon done and there is no good way to level as DPS.
Previous cont...
Fates and Leve Quest xp blows, I have been waiting since HW launch for hopefully some re-balancing of XP gains from it, no go.
I would gladly pay to get a 60 that does require me to grind a crap-ton of stuff since there are not enough quests to get decent xp to level a second let alone 3rd job.
There are so many QoL updates that I have been hoping for and they did not materialize. I am willing to get Stormblood a go but yet again we have to complete the stupid story to get to a new zone in the expansion. It would be nice to start at an expansion and just play in the new content once you hit the level.
So what really bothered you wasnt the story but rather the leveling of classes?
I do understand your wish of a fresh start and I am fully aware that its your choice after all, but maybe you could consider buying the level jump potion instead of the story skip one and actually play through the HW-story?
If you actually enjoy seeing the story it would be a shame to miss out on it...
PotD is a fast way of leveling btw. Daily Beast Tribe quests give a very decent chunk of exp aswell - the weekly challenge log gives a certain amount of exp aswell.
And to be honest: at the end of the day after the story is done this game is one big grind - if you dont enjoy that, I'm not sure what this game can give you once the story is done...?
Again, in the end its your choice, but if you care about the story, I would reconsider skipping it, even though I understand your situation and wish for a fresh start.
Well the most obvious reason is that people want to catch up to their friends. That is reasonable to do ONCE, unless they completely hate the job they selected.
The other argument which was pretty heated at the beginning of HW was that there are RP people who do not want to play the story. They see it as an obstacle. That is another kind of heated debate that I don't want to bring to this thread.
Suffice it to say, if they set the price of these job pots at a level that is essentially the same as buying a new subscription, then I don't see why not. Feels like the players are only cheating themselves. As long as it can only be done to a combat class that is fine. If they allow it to be done to a crafting class, then it's just an extreme P2W, and nobody will bother with crafting any low-level items, ever.
Yea, tbh isee things bad coming from boost! I see returning vets or alts boosting and ok, but new pay 2 progress people, comming in and thinking they are a big dog, not accepting help and ruining runs. I just hope these jumpers leaning to accept help or teaching or i see many elitist comming out of hidding!
I have 4 characters done with msq (plus another currently working through 3.0), and after so many playthroughs I have the current story pretty much memorized. Come SB, my newer rp chararcters can hit the ground running - I never have to slog through 2.X's 7,483,478 fetchquests to get to Ishgard again ;w;
Garbage players are garbage. An instant lv60 potion won't change that. I see people with latest relic and full i270 gear struggling in dun scaith...so yeah.
Thats a reason I can understand - when you've seen the story, maybe even multiple times, skipping it doesnt seem to "harmful". I mean, using my logic you wouldnt skip something you dont like in that case...
(not that I really understand the need for multiple alts either, but I'm not a RPer after all xD)
Boost potions will be available next Friday, 6/16/2017. You could easily grind for levels through POTD. If you want to play in the new expansion right away, you could also purchase the MSQ boost potion which lets you completes all of HW and ARR msq and starts you off right where SB begins. So $25 for a job boost potion and $25 for a msq potion plus $40 for the expansion lets you enjoy the expansion from day 1.
Fates, Palace of the Dead, and Pre level 50 (non hw jobs) there is the hunt log. Plenty of ways to level and also best if you can to have a full group of friends to run dungeons.
I can understand some may not like to do story, but do not agree with the actually leveling potions but could also are less if people use it as long as they take the time to learn stuff
Well, if you've already done the MSQ once, most people are not inclined to do it again but also want to enjoy playing on Alt characters. So, could be along the same with the job quests. Apart from those, it'll be for the people who are too lazy/don't want to actually read anything who will want to do those. But they will miss a lot of stuff. I wonder if it'll force you to do the dungeons though.
The game is not just story, and some people don't care about it at all, so they'd not skip it to get to more story but to get to the endgame, whatever that is for everyone. Raiding contains no story, RP contains no story (or no story quests), glamour contains no story, just playing with friends contains no story.
This is an mmo, so you should never think about things that affect the whole playerbase from a point of "i enjoyed that" and "i don't care about this", but rather as "do people enjoy this" and "do most people really want that" o/
while we're at it don't say stuff about game design because you know about network technology because you don't and too many people think that's all to it, not for the quote but peope on teh forum in general
Well for me, I am slightly considering using it so I can make a true alt character without having to do all that stuff again. Occasionally, I'd also like to play as a different race without having to buy a fantasia every time! :D ...which is why I'd like to make an alt, and one that doesn't have to do all that story stuff and the stuff gated behind it. I enjoy the story stuff, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't mean I want to do everything again just to have access to the same stuff as my main. /shrug
(you can get passed the 1000 character limit by editing post)
Here you go, all the info you need for the potions ^^ -> https://youtu.be/JreEQPFs_7k?t=38m36s
Sucks that wanna skip the story, it did get better in HW I would recommend going through it (PLEASE try to get your money's worth out of the game and don't make your exp with this game shorter then everyone elses because you may hit that content wall hard and be bored). Thats your choice if you wanna skip everything but do be aware that job poitions only work for 1 job not all. & With the changes to the battle system, your "possibly" gonna be re-learning your job all over again & and the 1st thing your going to be doing when SB early access goes live is readjusting your hotbars for the new system. Take some time with WAR I guess (WAR is the "DPS" Tank, while PLD is more your DEF "Party" Tank) and try to enjoy HW ^^
Not wanting to do the story again I can fully understand! (And again: I'm not judging anyone who wants to skip the story enterily, even on their first character - I'm just wondering how happy a person who doesnt want to see the story at all is going to be witha Final Fantasy game)
There are many people who rush through the story skipping every dialog and cutscene, even if you didn't have the skip potion these people would still not read dialog and not watch cutscenes, so it's no difference.
1) The sooner I get through old content the sooner I can play with the general community and friends on the new content.
2) There are way, way too many MSQs. I quit FFXIV when I completed the 100 MSQs of ARR (Zzzz) and saw that there were 100 MORE before STARTING HW. Without jump potion, I would never come back.
3) The MSQline is heavily padded, which may work all right if you're consuming content bit by bit but is tortuous back-to-back when catching up. All the ARR fetch quests and story padding (hey, we need you to provision a feast to fight a boss) ate away at time without adding much to the world.
I agree with the poster above that the MSQ becomes mind numbingly draining when you have to do it in bulk while trying to catch up. Most people experienced it in piece meal through multiple patches which resulted in a very different experience.
I'm hearing June 14'th from friends
I can only speak for myself because yes I fully intend to buy the story skip potion. My reason is because I'm behind my friends and to be honest they're the only reason why I'm even playing. One of them has valid health concerns and has a stress anxiety problem. Most of which has been triggered by players acting dumb in duty finder. It's gotten to the point where they've had to go to the hospital over it. I've begged them to quit and quit games all together, they won't and I'm torn on the subject because it is wrong of me to try and take away what enjoyment they have. They love FFXIV and the setting and story. I don't, but I do want to take away the stress of random healers from them and to spend time with them because frankly I don't know what tomorrow will ever bring. $25 and skipping through as fast as I can through SB just to give my friend an hour of stress free dungeons a day is a small price to pay and its worth the cost to me.
