I'm sure the last patch notes said these would get new recipes in 1.20 but I could not see any notice of this in the patches.
Also did not see any mention of them removing dated recipe's.

ALC and CUL are set for 1.21 aren't they ?
Not sure. But if thats the case I wonder what they will be doing about the dated recipes.
I am happy to have them stay longer because they are the easiest to grind on :)
If not 1.21, then maybe 1.20a?
We had a conversation about this a little eariler, for those interested... http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...erhaul-SADFACE
The community team in Japan were able to answer a few crafting recipe questions as well as obtain information that will answer some of the questions brought up in this thread.
I hope this helps!

I’d like to see more equipment with Control +.
There is a lack of crafter gear at level 30 that increases the stats for control.
First, in patch 1.21 we will be editing the remaining accessories, medicine, and food item recipes. Following patch 1.22, which will finish off the recipe fixes, we will be looking at crafting/equipment and be adding recipes to the levels that are lacking.Quote:
It’d be nice if you could fill in the gaps in levels.
Once we have added recipes for levels that are lacking and establish the balance between the levels and the recipes, we are planning to eliminate the old recipes.
Sounds like they'll be in until at least 1.23. I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed till 2.0. There are some level ranges where old recipes are the only option for leveling crafts since crafting leves are still random more than a year after the game's release.
/em crosses fingers "please make alchemy and culinary worth leveling"
Oooooook. Now I'm more confused. For some crazy reason I thought 1.21 was a patch that was supposed to 'fix' culinary and alchemy? And by fix I of course mean 1) culinary recipes wouldn't be crazy with the amount of ingredients for food 2) food would be tweaked to give good stats and actually be something that people want to use and 3) do something with alchemy to make it worth something. As it stands now I feel like alchemy is more worthless than culinary if only because I can get some food that gives +magic acc. The only worth while stuff right now made by alchemy is like... glue? Maybe rubber? Having almost all crafts to 50(aside from cul) it just seems like I never have the need to pull out my alembic and make something.
It'll be like all the other crafts. They'll add a ton of new recipes but leave the old versions in.
I do hope they raise medicine potency to make it worth it. It was said that in XI potions were so worthless. ALC was one of my four I wanted to level.
I'm curious, how do you tolerate leveling so many crafts? I feel like I spend more time gathering than I do leveling my desired craft.
In the past I think they said recipe change will come on 1.19 and finish it off at 1.20. Then the next time they said it will be 1.20 and finish in 1.21 instead.. and now delay to 1.21 to be finished at 1.22. At this point I wouldn't doubt it 1.23 1.24.
This is kind of a silly question, but will old items made with Culinarian be considered 'Dated'? I don't know, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about eating Dated Meat Miq'abobs...That's just asking for trouble.
XI at least had potions you would use. Silent oils and prism powders were always needed to hide from agro mobs on the way to places. If you were trying to solo something elixirs had their place. Even Hi potions were somewhat useful early on for trying to solo the 3-3 dragon lol. It was a long time ago but I remember re-raise items being very useful - I think alchemy had a role in that.
As for crafting, I just watch tv and spam my X button. Or browse other forums. It's completely mindless for the most part and you just need something you can do while crafting to take your mind off it. I just started gathering, just leveled up making my own materials or doing synths that I would break even/profit off of by selling back to npc.
Yay! I forgot that I couldn't make rings with ingots, then got the frowny face after I used all my ore up.
I think its hard to finalize food recipes till jobs are finalized. They need to know what stats they are enhancing so they can balance it. Probably the same with alchemy. I think the existing new recipes came first because they were needed to introduce materia.
It will be interesting to see if they can work out some sort of materia augment for consumables like food and potions.
