Just another SCH thread

Today it seems Yoshi P has stated that the media tour builds were over a month old and there have been allot of changes since then. It got me wondering. What would you guys hope they changed for sch other than bane which I'm sure that will stay the same. For me I will make a little list. Feel free to add or tell me my changes are op or no chance of happening lol.

1.) Dissipation to work as normal but lower the CD a bit maybe to 120-150 and resummon the fairy when done.
2.) Give each fairy it\\\\\\\\'s own buff like ast has for each sect.
3.) Increase the percentage of fey wind and lower the CDs of fey illumination, convenant and caress.
4.) Silent Dusk needs to be removed and replaced with a new support ability.

What do you guys think? Any other hopes for 4.0 for SCH!

1) Rework Selene

2) Improve Dissipation

3) Replace Excogitation by Fey Union

4) Rework Chain Stratagem : put links between several players (max 5). The players linked gain 1% damage by players linked together (max 5%).
If one player is affected by Fey Union, the players linked to him receive the same amount of heal less 20% and drecrease again by 20% for the next player, etc.
If a player is too far from another player to whom he is linked, the link will break.
Radius : 7y
Range : 15y
Duration : 20 sec
Cooldown : 90 sec

5) New skill level 70 : Summon Phoenix

Need definitively more new stuff, management, rework and adjustement about Fairy and all skills related.

I agree with these two points the most, and the last part. I feel there should be more focus on Faeries for a SCH. They should play a much bigger part in the SCH toolkit. I agree with OP as well that each faerie should have their own buffs like the sect stances for AST.

As for the Phoenix thing, it was always a dream of mine from 2.0(Before the personalized limit breaks) to have SCH summon Phoenix as their LB3, sadly I learned that Phoenix is already in the game (never cleared that content myself) and the hopes for SCH getting Phoenix were gone. HOWEVER now that SMN gets to summon Bahamut the hopes kinda sparked back up for sometime in the future lol.

Scholars aren't summoners. I would sooner expect Phoenix as a SMN utility move, though I don't anticipate it given the in-game lore. Despite Bahamut, Phoenix is likely forever out of player hands, at least this early in the story.

At least as a primal, that is. His variant makes a cool mount.

Given the tooltip changes of Summon I and II, Eos is the "healing" fairy and Selene the "support" one, and they both fit this. However I'm a little concerned with their pokemon 4-move nature and how they haven't really been addressed since the release of HW when Selene's awesome spell speed skill was reworked into the current triviality. I'm also a little concerned with the redundancy of Fey Illumination and Largesse, and if having both of them as well as Dissipation is going to somehow cause us issue further down the line. I mean we never asked for more divine seal effects, and yet here we are with three of the bloody things...

I'm still waiting for my man-fairy, and don't tell me he can't happen. If Lily can have Eos and Selene as aspects, there's nothing preventing SE from adding to the faerie lore to introduce further aspects. Basically anything can be retconned in a high-fantasy/high-science-fiction setting like this.

But yes, SCH has had the same two tinkerbells for years, and I want something new. Phoenix-egi would be fantastic if Phoenix didn't play such a pivotal part in the main story. Sure, a justification could be cooked up, but in this case I think it's best left alone.

Would also prefer to see SCH shielding options expanded and/or empowered. AST's Nocturnal Sect has encroached way too far onto SCH's turf, just as Diurnal is competing too closely with WHM's ostensible burst and HoT superiority.

In Greek mythology, the Titans Hyperion and Theia had three children, the goddess of dawn Eos, the goddess of the moon Selene, and the sun-god Helios. While Eos is healing and Selene is hasted support, there was a lot of speculation based off dev chatter back in ARR that with HW we might get a 3rd fairy specialized in buffing, but this obviously turned into the reveal for ASTs. Perhaps it was considered early in development, but we will likely never get Helios since he's been repurposed as the name of AST's AoE heal.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the story. I was definitely disappointed when ASTs got "Helios" as a skill.

I suppose we'll have to find something else Greek to name our flying dude.

Dissipation -Easy fix just give it an auto re-summon much like Smn's Summon Bahamut, Dissipation should really have this as well. Also dunno how things work but the fairy bar should still increase during dissipation if it doesnt.

Aetherpact/Fay Union -Pretty underwhelming, it really needs something else along with the heal, so why not add a heal crit rate buff to target as well. It could also change depending on the fairy out, like a increase heal crit chance for Eos, and a more potent single target fey wind buff for Selene.

Chain Stratagem -We're loosing a bit of dps because of the nerfs for Smn, so why not just add some damage to Chain Stratagem, it actually seems like reasonable skill to have some potency.

Quicken Aetherflow -A pretty useless passive. Although prolly too late to do cause would need to change the UI, why not just add another Aetherdam, no rng and happy sch with 4 stacks.

I approve of this idea for Dissipation.

Fey Union is like stacking 3 WHM regens on a single target at once, and that's kind of neat, though putting an additional effect on it would make its meter burn more interesting. If it had a +10% damage reduction effect like a targetted sacred soil as well then that would be pretty spiffy given how few mitigation buffs there are that can be used by non-tanks (and Fey Union can't be used on the SCH themself so it's always synergistic).

Adding damage to Chain Strategem does nothing to address the hamstrung AoE issue. Single target we're actually decent potency-wise, if a little behind WHM, but the worry is currently how well we can sustain it with mana costs.

Honestly all the new passives are pretty meh across the board for most classes. Generally they throw in a little bit of positive RNG with your abilities, but they're typically just quality of life things, like finding a cookie with an extra chocolate chip.

Im actually ok with sch being more single target based, I mean even now I tend to use whm a lot more for like dungeons and such because of their burst, let them have that at least. >.< But yeah sch still needs a bit more even if that were so...

I'd like to see the aetherflow requirement removed from sacred soil and have the cooldown increased to compensate.

Right now there is just no reason to use it.

Yep, Sacred Soil is overshadowed by Indomitability in most of the case.
And now, Lustrate will know the same fate because of Exocogitation even if it's a bit different.

Well excog is only a 50 potency higher heal and its on a 60s cooldown as far as we know. So emergency lustrates or quick heals on dps that are below 50% already will still be quite valuable. Sacred Soil though yeah I'm finding it very hard to defend that ability except in the case of mitigating a raid buster or something that would have 100% wiped you or a party member.

I use sacred soil a lot in progression raiding; 10% mitigation is very useful for tank busters and more specifically, large incoming AoEs. I don't think we'd have cleared Brute Justice without it, to be frank. I guess it did lose some uniqueness with WHM/AST bubbles, but soil is more versatile so I don't mind it.

In primals I typically only find myself using it for the big mid-battle AoE strike, though I've been known to drop it as a hope of shoring up squishier tanks in PUG groups. I guess in dungeons I don't really consider it, so in that respect I guess I can see what you're saying, but it can still come in handy on helping the tank during exceptionally large trash pulls like in the beginning of Baelsar's Wall. Sacred Soil is basically like a version of Eye for an Eye that doesn't rely on the proc chance to apply its effect, so it's great for large AoE situations and heavy hits alike.

Yeah its mostly a progression tool its just one of those rarely used buttons on my bar due to once were ilvl capped its the first thing to go. OH since u mentioned Baelsar's Wall, yes, I do use that for the bigger pulls there as well come to think of it especially the one right before griffin. So yeah it does have its uses honestly the one thing I would change about it would be a guaranteed free succor proc rather than is it 20% now? That would be really helpful topping up after a big aoe more of a quality of life thing that I don't think is a huuuuuge ask.

I've seen it proc pretty often during A12S prog, but the vast majority of the time you don't actually use sacred soil, as the stack is generally better spent at an actual heal than non-critical mitigation. The ability itself isn't bad, it's just that the opportunity cost of using it is too high in most cases, so it'd be really nice if it'd not cost a stack anymore.

I'm slightly irked by the new Gauge we have. We sorta got a mechanic tacked onto us as well, similar to WHM. But we didn't need it really, our mechanic was DoT and Shield management, which is why we played very similarly in 3.x, they got it right the first time; but they seem to be moving away from that, which is sad, T.T I do wish we got something more, like the Gauge interacting more with our abilities. And why don't we have more Aetherflow Stacks, like really not getting any at 60 was alright, but by 70 I was expecting 1 more; then maybe alternate. I wish we had more Fairy skills, like a Direct Shield ability for Selene, and a new Regen for Eos, single target; or why not an extension skill, similar to ASTs, it could extend the buffs we grant by 15 seconds or so.

Changes I wish would happen
Bane: Please don't nerf it, T.T it's our only main source of AoE
Shadowflare: back to its original use as a DoT and able to be recast, or even remove it and replace it with a new skill that works for both SMN and SCH, and give it to us as a Job ability, Maybe put Miasma 2 Back here. Or why not Aetherpact, since hey you gave it to both SCh and SMN anyway like what?
Sacred Soil: either up the damage defense to justify the use of an Aetherflow stack or give this the Shadowflare treatment, an ability with a 60s CD
Fairy Passive Buffs: Give us a buff for the fairy we have out, why does AST even have buffs on their skills anyway, the potencies are the same as ours, If the potencies were still lower, yes keep those buffs, that's why they were there to start, but now its just overkill. The obvious choice is Eos gives us a heal buff and Selene a Spell Speed one, but I say reverse it so we don't go overkill. I'd even take 5% at this point.
The New Fey Gauge: Give us more for the gauge to interact with, like a new fairy skill that uses part of the gauge. A Direct Shield for Selene and a Potent Regen for Eos
Dissipation: At least make the fairy resummon after it loses its effect.
Quicken Aetherflow: This trait is dumb, like some other before it... looking at you stoneskin and medica traits. Why not have this trait work in our favor by upgrading our fairies in some way, like the gauge increases twice as fast or something, i dunno i'm tired, T.T

Those are my thoughts for now, but I guess we'll have to see. The good news I guess is a lot of use have similar ideas so SE can say we are all over the map, we all know what SCH is supposed to be.

we also need a new skill replacement for leech since its being taken out, so right now there is no 40 skill for sch. they could totally make use of this by giving us a new skill or something worthwhile, like move certain skills down the level and give us a better skill at a higher level.

I have a feeling they are going to implement the new cross skill system with the job quests, for example "all healers get debuff remover spell at X level".

Originally I thought the same when White Mages lost a bunch of skills to the role system and thought that the replacement skills would have added something new but it seems there is no hint of that at all from any of the media videos I seen so far :(

So I'm afraid its quite likely people levelling for the first time will just get a gap.

Technically level 40 is when the fairies learn their final skills (fey illumination and fey wind), so it's not a complete gap.

Eos and Selene to the rescue once again. Now if only they could graduate from being Pokemon and learn a 5th ability...
