To Devs or anyone who may have a guess:
Will traits need to be equipped and used? Or will they be always on like now? They have recast times so I am assuming they have to be used?
If so. I think 15 actions is not enough for exclusive actions/traits.

I think the recast time is what that ability's recast time will be after you learn that trait.
IE: Chameleon has 180 sec recast time.
Swift Chameleon: Reduces Chameleon Recast time by 60 seconds. Recast time: 120 Seconds.
The trait description is just telling you what Chameleon's recast would be after you get that trait.
Edit: And I think the rest are typos
i did wonder as well. it doesn't add up to me 15 actions 10 cross class actions, oo i ran out of room on my 30 slot action bar for 11 traits aswell. but traits have a recast time so they must be cast, ehh ??? strange ???
Maybe we can only have one trait at a time active and have to use them to switch our active trait?
That would really not make them traits though. They would just be regular abilities then. I'm still thinking they are just typos.
Copy/paste typos.
I'm hopeing some are typos, trying to make a mock action bar and am confused on if I need to include traits on the bar or not.
Pretty sure traits are going to be passive and will auto-equip on the bar where Fleet of Foot, Intimidation, etc. currently go. The recast of 5s on stuff like "Attack +10" is rather confusing though.
Traits are auto-equip upon leveling and do not need to be cast.
The recast time is part of the template and likely within the week, you will see these removed from the traits.
The Swift traits that affect cooldown timers are listing the new recast time of the action, which throws a monkey wrench into all this.
Fleet of Foot and other traits were never on your action bar. They were passive and never required a button press to interact with them. There is a totally separate section for them. Keep in mind, the action count is 15 main class abilities, 10 cross-class abilities, 5 job abilities. (when they come out)
if the recast time is a typo/mistake then traits make sense (big oversight tho that one big page of typos)
Traits have always had a separate bar, makes no sense to change that now.
Edit:
Theory, but what the recast timers could refer to is when these traits "go active." As not all traits are active at all times, some require ability triggers.
Meaning, this trait activates due to WS1, Trait remains on cooldown for ~length of recast timer~.
Not likely, but possible.
≪Setting Actions and Traits≫
The following reforms have been made to the conditions for setting actions and traits:
- Upon learning an action for your current class, that action will automatically be set to the action bar and cannot be voluntarily removed. It is possible, however, to move the action to another slot.
I think this is some internal information for them in terms of the 5s recasts and it somehow was missed in editing. Once you level up and learn the trait, or in between class changes, it may take 5s for it to become active after it auto-equips.
The 5 second recast time is also present in the original Japanese notes as well as Conjurer traits not being marked as exclusive.
I sort of read it as it is not always available right after dispensing a spell/or action it affects. Autorefresh for example will take 5 seconds to start up after switching jobs. Enhance raise will work for one raise spell then the subsequent spells will be unaffected with the enhanced trait until the trait's cooldown timer is up.
Would be nice to get some clarification.
This new style of traits is awful.. Yoshida really blew it with these overhauls..
They probably will not respond to this individual thread, but they will most likely post an updated / clarified patch notes based on the feedback we're giving them.
Some of the notes will need to be cross referenced with the developers as they're ambiguities in the original notes as well.
christ, traits wont be on the bar. and there all passive, thats what traits are. just end this stupid thread lol.
I think passive abilities that we don't need to trigger versus active abilities (actions).
