Scared for Doma

On the map it's still the generic city state circle thing. Square Enix also refuses to show much of the zone, except for when it's being attacked, or flooded with water. I'm so scared that the city state I've always wanted might end up an Idyllshire 2.0. Is anyone else feeling this?

I hope not, while i liked the whole "rebuilding Mor Dhona, Idylshire" thing i would personally prefer to see Kurogane as the endgame hub where everyone hangs out, over yet another place to rebuild.

I mean, given what happened to Doma in FF6 I never really expected anything but tragedy where FF14's version is concerned. Furthermore, opposing a behemoth such as Garlemald should come with massive losses for the sake of realism - so I'd be disappointed if the story is a straightforward one and everybody ends up living happily ever after. Here's hoping that Garlemald ends up being nuanced, too - and if Doma is lost it is a direct consequence of the Eorzean Alliance and their new allies being too overconfident and aggressive.

Frankly I don't expect the city itself to be a major city hub. We are getting that with Kugane. Doma, even if the Garleans are kicked out, is going to take a long time to rebuild.

Well, why wouldn't I be? Doma has been a place in my mind for a long time. Before Kugane came along, that was our east. I do want it to be preserved somehow.

1: Because there has been plenty of footage of Doma. It's obviously not and Idillyshire 2.0.
2: being "scared" by how a developer builds up a fictional city in a game seems to be at the very least excessive.

It's also shown to be flooded in the Revolutions trailer - and flood damage is pretty extreme, typically. Furthermore it's the Warrior of Light and his allies who appear to be assaulting the massive gates leading into Doma which may actually be what causes the flood to begin with. I kind of hope that is the case, because if the Eorzean Alliance, Scions and Warrior of Light start resorting to such extremes in the name of 'freedom' then they won't have much room to complain about the Garleans retaliating in turn.

Was it the main city though? I don't think its completely clear. Regardless I don't think they are likely to make players feel bad about their actions. One way or the other the WoL's actions will get justified by the story.

I wonder if the flooding could be a defense mechanism of sorts for Doma proper?

This renders footsoldiers useless and the only way to enter will be via ships/boats that can be shot down with magitek and those cannon.

Might explain why we see Hien and co. using those flying mounts.

And here I am just getting through the 2.x content and I've just heard about how Doma was burned to the ground. Bit awkward for me to be looking forward to traveling after that. =P

I payed 200$ for the collectors addiction, along with day one shipping. I can be afraid of what I want. I'm worried that Doma might not make it in as an intact city. That's a legit concern from a paying customer, who's been told that they'd get to "liberate Doma".

You've never been told that you'll get to liberate (or even visit) Doma as a specific city. You'll liberate Doma as a nation. We already have a city, and that is Kugane.

I hope they make a reference to Cyan "mr thou"
