The future of PvP gear?

With the total revamp of the PvP I was wondering what would PvP gear become?
Obviously there probably is no need anymore to have different price for every gear since they're all ranked down to glamour state, but are they all going to be lvl down to 30 which is the new starting PvP lvl? Or maybe different lvl to encourage player raising their job to wear them?
Tbh I wouldn't mind Garo gear down to lvl 30 this way I wouldn't have to raise all my job to 60 to wear them lol

I'm honestly more bummed I can't use PvP gear to quickly boost item levels on alt jobs, it was a lot more convenient than farming tomes to buy shit because you gained tomes alongside wolf marks.

I didn't realize this... I was hoping they invested more in PvP gear, not less... Was really hoping PvP gear became a third viable path to gear-up (along side Raids and Tomes) even if that meant weekly bottlenecks.

Cheating your item level? How about you go check a tooltip on a piece of pvp gear and compare it to a piece of dungeon gear of similar item level.

They have the same weapon damage. They have the same main stats.

There's just a stigma attached because "ew PvP gear."

I'm obviously not planning to stay in the PvP gear for very long.

When you open that can of worms, you also get raiders feeling the same way about your lore gear or Kina weapon. A game could be designed to require content-specific gear, but that can quickly backfire. Suddenly you need 3 sets of gear for every job if you want to do all the things?

I suspect that all future pvp gear will be glamour gear/catch up gear like the i235 Garo sets are.

If dungeons weren't faceroll with even a half-competent party and required harsh skill and gear checks i'd agree with you. But wanting to take my MCH into a dungeon with a perfectly serviceable weapon so I can roll on gear and go buy a proper one isn't cheating.

This "pvp gear should only be used for pvp" and "pve gear should only be used for pve" mentality is entirely self-enforced. I respect that you have an opinion, but I don't respect how narrow minded it is and how it encourages limited options for players to progress.

I don't feel limited at all in PvE. To raise your ilvl you got Craft, Dungeon, Tome, Story mode raid and 24 man raid, and for more HL player Extreme and Savage. Saying that forbidding to wear PvP gear in PvE is limiting player's progression is like shooting on the ambulance.

Well, so far, PvP gear lacks accuracy completely because it's not needed in PvP content. That being said, it's useless for endgame content (Ex primals, raids). I've seen people fully dressed in PvP clothes missing like a champ. However, I partially disagree with Aurtan here as there's no such thing as "cheating ilvl" with that gear, as long as you balance it with PvE gear for the sake of addressing what I've mentioned before. Full sets might be useful for casual dungeoning, though, or just filler gear until you get something better like you mentioned before. Just don't venture yourself into endgame content fully equipped with that sh*t lol. We might take into consideration that, since they are going to change the stats in 4.0, we will see if the community finds a use for it.

I think that pvp gear might turn into cosmetic itens o.o, or the pvp prizes might turn into cosmetic prizes that goes beyond gear.

With the elimination of esos, it became much harder to properly boost up a newly level 60 character quickly. the PVP garo gear helped immensely with supplementing with dungeon gear and the like by providing the ilevel and gear boost to get to the higher end gear. and the stats on the PvP gear were comparable, sometimes even better. eliminating it will stink, since PvP was one of the best ways to farm for all the tomes AND gear (which later becomes a lovely glamour)

The limitation for tome only concern the latest gear, but since we're talking about raising ilvl you can use the previous tome which has no limitation and still offer a good option to raise your ilvl.

It can, but not always. If you are more of a casual player its a valid concern. PvP was far easier on those that had limited time (like I did for awhile) when I got a bunch of classes up to 60 at once to cap out before SB hit. There are alot of people that level more than one thing, and tomes don't stretch very far at their current cost for lore and scrip. Then came the Garo gear, what a godsend. It simply was a nice alternative. I got a few FC members to join in PvP because of it, and we all had a common goal of leveling quite a few of our classes up.

That being said, I'd like to see PvP be a way to still farm for both gear and tomes. It helps break up the dungeon and roulette monotony.

That's precisely what I use PvP gear for: missing pieces. I wouldn't dare bring PvP gear into a primal or a raid, that's asking for trouble.

Please excuse me for being against any form of taking a choice away from a player when it comes to how they view progression, it's not like this game has a hardcore PvP community constantly at war with the PvE community for this mentality to be so prevalent (like many many other games I've played).

Crafted gear tends to be expensive and aimed at raiders and others already at endgame. Most new and returning players do not have the money for 1 weapon and a full set much less 15 weapons and 7 sets.
Dungeons tend to end up to random to rely on.
Tomestone gear has this weird dichotomy where in order to get Tomes most efficiently you need to already have tome gear unless you participate in content that doesn't rely on ilevel.
Story mode raids require being fulled geared for the previous patch set to effectively participate in. 24-man raids are similar.
Accessing EX and Savage gear requires a player to be even better geared.

The i235 Garo PvP gear was actually pretty good at helping new and returning players to gear up. The only real problems with it was the complete lack of accuracy.

This will likely not happen since they were really clear on the PvP is not PvE point in their latest live letter. They really want to cut the PvP off the PvE.

Ok for the Crafted gear and I mentionned EX and Savage were for HL players (tbh ilvl doesn't matter much I've did A11S at 240 while 255 was the requirement), but you shouldn't take all the other options separatly. You need to combine them all and make your way through it, like getting a piece from that dungeon, then some token from the story mode. Sweet now I have enough memo to buy a piece, now I can access a higher tier of story mode! Kind of progression.
Plus on SB they said last dungeon chest is guaanteed to loot a piece for one of the party member.

Until they start putting weapons in dungeons after you hit level cap again there's always going to be an incredibly steep climb for returning players. Buying a Garo weapon gave you something that did reasonable damage and allowed you to do content that allowed you access to a better weapon.

Or did people stop caring about dps in casual content all of a sudden?

To further elaborate on this point, past the i210 weapon (which can be obtained via centurios in a couple days or so) in order to get a better weapon you need to:

Get into a primal and acquire at the very least a 230+ weapon OR

Farm 1000 lore and clear a8n four times OR

Farm 1000 scripture and clear a12n four times OR

Obtain a crafted 250 weapon OR

Work on your relic

All of which take a significant amount of time that may be daunting to a returning player or a fresh 60.

Meanwhile you can bypass all that headache with a day or so of PvP that syncs you down to i180 anyway (so your gear being crap doesn't matter much) and you'll have a 235 weapon with the exact same weapon damage and main stats as similar weapons available via PvE.

You can then take this weapon into expert roulettes (assuming of course you've got enough accuracy through dungeon drops/tome gear you've picked up along the way) so you can more easily farm tomes to build your item level further and get yourself into better gear and better content.

Also I will admit farming PvP for tomes and wolf marks essentially doubles your progression ability, as you can buy tome gear to flesh out your kit so it's not entirely made up of PvP gear.

I did like being able to do PvP for "acceptable" (minus when you miss the accuracy cap you needed, which doesn't matter anymore) leveling gear, so I don't really want to see that go.. But if the PvP gear turns into glamour only gear then I'd really like to see achievements related to collecting gear.

That way I can buy a set and then have it unlocked in the Calamity Salvage, at least until a glamour log shows up this would be nice. Would also suggest that they add quite a few other things to spend your marks on, big pile of consumables, maybe another way to progress your relic (not the only method, but another option), and perhaps buying old content tokens. Maybe if they're really run out of ideas a black market where you can buy wins on achievements lol, so you can get that Commander coat via Feast rather than Frontlines or w.e (but of course this method wouldn't be most efficient).

@Kuroneko_Jutah You kinda raised one point of this game that I really dislike: people wanting easy gear, all the time. It's already easy enough to have a full tome gear, people won't be BiS but they still have a kinda equivalent gear to raider gear which starting from there is not normal. But then people are unhappy because tome takes time to gather so we give them more option of gear, again, and again, and again, and they still complain they don't have enough option to get gear and that it is too slow. If SE was stopping to give so many gear opportunity and stick to raid and tome, people would then realize their loss but it would be too late.
