I liked setting my own attribute points personally, I felt like my character was more personalized because I could specify exactly how I wanted her to develop fully. I could adjust it to make her have more STR or give her a big MP pool, where now everything is pretty much like FFXI. Every character has X stats at X level and you have to use gear to change it. But everyone within a specific class basically wears the same thing at 50, so where is the uniqueness character wise and stat wise?
But that's just my opinion. :)
I don't see the problem they explain what all points do now, I now know all i need to do is slam points on STR int and DEX on my pgl lol
There's only a small amount of customization now. You're limited in how many points you can add into a single stat, so we're not gonna wind up with players pouring every last stat they have into the one stat that helps them. It looks like each discipline has two stats that are kind of their thing, and it's probably expected that people will pump points into those two... but honestly, I feel that's what they want the average player to do. It's the default solution. Players who crave an alternate path, however, can take a different route.
Well I guess you guys are right.
Im happy for finally knowing what stats work best for each class. Full of win. May not be tons of content for most but I think the new revamps for classes look to be an improvement. Fists of Earth and Fists of Fire for pug cant wait to try these.
I dont care if STR and MND affect Gladiator auto attack damage.
Mine are going in VIT (HP and damage mitigation) and DEX (Block Rate)
No point anywhere else ever.
One minor thing confusing me is that the Bonus 1 and Bonus 2 thing seem... odd. Like for Pugilists -- with the Blindside buff, it actually seems like Int is more valuable than Strength is, unless Strength double-dips by upping both Attack Power AND the damage from DoW (-archer) Arms.
Oh well, time to punch intelligently next patch!
I am very grateful to have the system back in a more balanced form and I cannot understand how anyone could be against this.
I know it's better if you can customize your character, but I must admit that at the moment the last thing I want to do is "worry" about them. Oh well, guess I'll have to check out different builds and so on.
Yep, thinking is hard!
I hear you, the new system looks great:
-Each point raised = 1 attribute point
-Visible (and rigid) bonus attribute cap (in the example the guy has 39 points to spend but max 23 per attribute)
-A clear indication of the effect of each stat, + a wide distribution of the benefits for the different attributes for each class
-All in all a fairly smaller, but significant amount of points to spend
Sounds like great balance to me, looking forward to be able to reallocate them in further patches so I can experiment different settings
you didn't forget the additional elemental damage from stances right ? that work with int too
I kinda see it like one free IV materia and a II~III materia. Except I can't unequip it for 1.5 mo for that class.
The real question is... will Strength help my melee attacks as a mage?
*faces against a flaming ogre in Mor Dhana while remaining party gets the tags the last gate *
me "You shall not pass!!!"
party "Fiosha! We didn't even need to aggro him, he..."
ogre "Ogre Smash!"
*ogre crushes Fiosha to death*
i think you'll be able to save the points for each class so it wont be like before were get get nerfed if you play a different class.
OP, If you had bothered to read previous patch notes you would have seen that Stat Allocations was only temporarily taken out of the game.
So i knew they were coming back eventually. And i dont mind it either since I have always been keen on allocating points to my own tastes:)
/comfort
lol I was kinda glad the allotment was gone myself, but not because I didn't care for customization, but because I didn't know exactly how stats were related. For example, if Strength increases your Attack power, how much Attk does 1 Str give you? Is it a 1-1 relationship? Do stat bonuses change for different level ranges?
I hope it will be a little bit clearer in subsequent patches.
