Probably so that all the people wanting SB info aren't camping media outlets and refreshing all day before it's lifted causing heavy server loads, etc.
usually the first rule of being in a NDA involves not talking about having a NDA...
Why would you need to know? Just ask the person who knows the secret what it is and promise that you'll tell no one else. Works every time.
People who have NDA, beta, review and advance copies typically have an embargo date that means that you can not release any information until after that date passes. That gives the people with that information enough time to do whatever job they are assigned for it.
If you have an actual NDA for a game, you aren't even supposed to disclose the fact that you have one. That's usually enough to get sued. If it's just a NDA until X date embargo, then it still applies. Breaking it usually means being sued for damages and termination of all further involvement with that company.
Ayo dawg we heard you like embargoes...
First rule of the embargo: Do not talk about the embargo.
Second rule of the embargo: Do NOT talk about the embargo.
That's not 100% exact. The Euro media tour already happened. The additional embargo time is to give people equal footing in getting all content ready, since articles and videos don't make themselves and take time to prepare :D

Pretty much this. I would honest to god, stop talking about your NDA/Embargo. Heck my advice OP? Edit the post and remove any mention of NDA. It is not something to be toyed with or challenged. Please take it from me, I've worked in video game QA for about 7 to 8 years and I've seen what happens to people who break NDA. It is not pretty, it can literally end your career and hurt possible future careers and overall ruin you.
Can't break an NDA that you newer agreed to

Its coming out in 3 weeks... I deserve more leaks for not getting a new healer
You guys are missing the point I think. I'm perfectly fine with them having an NDA on the media tour. I get it. What I'm wondering is why is it that people are not allowed to say WHEN they can reveal information.
As for that: I remember Yoshi saying "at the end of the month" during the last PLL. There are 2 days left (using JP time. Because we all know they'll get to be the first ones to release the info), so...
As I mentioned in my first post, there isn't a specific reason that applies to all cases. Most of the times, it just comes down to a corporate decision, and each publisher has different ideas on this. Some will tell you to spam it as much as possible on social media to tease readers, some to keep quiet.
*sigh* I wish the embargo would lift already. Supposedly it's supposed to be lifted by the end of the month, but it's already the 30th. T_T; Though I do live in Taiwan so it's still the 29th back in the States...
Embargo this, embargo that. We are going to play it in about two weeks anyway. I can wait that long for my lore.
I'm more interested in specifics about the jobs. My hype levels for Stormblood have been 0 for a while now and this embargo certainly doesn't help it at all. I feel silly being so bummed by the job I've just been defaulting to since 2.0 having such a poor showing in the news, live letter and job ability trailer, possibly the poorest next to DRK, -- especially with RDM coming out which was my old main from FFXI which should stoke me -- but... I don't know... for some reason all of this has been feeling like SE has been giving me a giant middle finger and I'm really kind of desperate for any news or information to the contrary.
If you aren't already hyped for Stormblood I'm not sure how lifting the thing that must not be named would help you. Swimming with neat underwater castles, the two most requested jobs, all the angry hobos in thanalan finally shutting up about reclaiming ala mhigo, othard, ivalice, mount speed upgrade, inventory increase, more people in pvp, new housing district. If after all of this you are still at zero....well i'm sorry you feel that way but I'm not sure this will increase to an apporpriate level.
Wasn't "the end of May" mentioned as when the NDA would be lifted?
It's pretty damn well into the end of May, considering we only have one day left!
Oh well, I'm hoping we are able to get more information tomorrow at the latest.
