Going to still stick to BRD for main, been like that for me since 2.0. I'll still play all other jobs though.
Been maining SMN since 2.0. Was planning on switching to SAM just for a change of pace, but summoning Bahamut is making it extremely difficult to commit to leaving SMN.
All aboard the summoner hype train (Y'all worst than the NBA), I'm staying loyal to Bae (summoner). I really want to try rdm, it looks really flashie and fun!!!
I'm not sure anymore either. Was planning on switching to SAM from MCH but NIN, MCH, PLD, RDM, DRG all look interesting to me now.
I definitely will level a melee and ranged, but which jobs, I'm not sure.
mindreading? : o
same goes for me I main SMN/WHM and thought to switch to SAM as well - but hell no way in leaving SMN now. I'll be going with SMN for the story and first 70 cap. Than WHM and SAM. Although Brd (which was my very first cls and main for the ARR story back in the days) seems really interesting again without castbars and the flutes... I'll definitely will max Brd as early as I can. The looser in my concept is RDM... dunno when to try this cls.
Ninja since 2.0. After the job action video, staying Ninja for 4.0. :D
I am so happy for whats coming for AST. It will always stay my main, but man that Red MAge is really pulling me in. And the added stuff for Summoner is blowing my mind.
Ninja will always be my main followed by summoner but SAM will slide in where DRK was and DRK will bump SCH to 5th
DRK will stay my main, WHM second and for DPS I'll try them all and see which is the best thing to do: try to level both jobs you like and then decide by what you enjoy more
MCH was always going to be my main but after seeing they removed gauss barrel casting I'm not so sure anymore. really enjoyed they way it played :(
I mained Bard in 2.0.
Mained Machinist for most of 3.0 before switching to Summoner.
For 4.0, it's probably gonna be a toss up between Bard and Summoner. Red Mage is a possibility, depending how much I like it.
I was going to stick to Summoner unless they make some kind of major change that wrecks it...
But I had planned to continue to moonlight on occasion as a BLM... and now RDM as well.
Going to main Summoner because of BAHUMENT....might I may switch between red mage and machinist depending how it plays in 4.0 cause I like it now with the procs not sure what it will be like in 4.0
oh yeah indeed I paused my Nin after I think Gordios? ilvl 230? Dunno exactly but hell yeah this fucking Naruto Frog Move is killin' me - this is a skill-animation I dreamed of as Smn for ages. Now you got it as Nin - maybe I'll give it another try after my personal agenda smn>whm>sam/brd>>>rdm or nin>... :3
Been a ninja main since 2.0 with DRK as a close second. Right now I'm torn between SAM and NIN. I picked up NIN originally because it was the only dps that had a weapon resembling a sword. I love the class and with the new abilities we saw, I really wanna stay a NIN. But SAM is the sword-wielding dps I've always wanted. And what I've seen of their toolkit, it's looking to be a real heavy hitter. I'm gonna wait for SB to decide officially. I enjoy the utility that NIN brings to the party (Everyone loves having a trick attack), so I would say the only thing that might lose me on SAM is a potential lack of utility. If I like it, it will be SAM>DRK>NIN. If I don't, it'll be NIN>DRK>SAM. Either way, I'm playing SAM even if it's just in dungeon content.
It's difficult, but I'd like to know more about the smaller adjustments. Like the Maim getting the resistance down, PLD getting shield oath at 30.
I'm looking around and it seem to be a bit scattered. The Reddit Megathread is the best I've found on these kinds of changes. If anyone has anything better I'd like to view it.
Mainly because small things like NIN / DRG / MCH etc..that have that moves that increase their attack or add a DoT feels a bit off to me before going into a rotation. I'm not saying I'm right but to me that feels like bloat that could be put somewhere else. Fracture on WAR etc...seeing that or other things change would make me lean to a job more because they all bring something to the table.
If I had to say something now? Bard. I was a bard in 1.0, I'd like to go back to buffing and doing some damage. Luckily they all seem to have something. Me sharing a raise as a SMN or giving a healer my MP so they can help recover, using Erase on someone who needs it...is all good for me.
No doubts in my mind. I will be switching to SAM right away. Been waiting 3 years for this class.
More than which one I want to main is which one I wanna play after the main...
Main will be my NIN, no doubt, I just love having a sharp tool in each hand.
But for the 2nd dps to go... Im battling between SAM/RDM/MNK/BRD D':!!
with all the great changes to casting and healing I'm honestly kind of torn.
Took a long break from the game and returning for Stormblood. That being said as far as my new main I will be playing the job I have waited for since ARR launched, Samurai! Played it in FFXI and I will main it in Stormblood without a doubt. Feels like forever waiting for this job to finally be in the game.
I will always be the few...
the proud....
the Machinist!
The other Jobs I will play just to level them for their Job storylines.
PLD, if continue after PvP changes.
However, I may change to Red Mage depending on how it plays out because I was original a Sword user type player and Magic Sword Class/Jobs is my original favorite type of Jobs to play as.
after seeing MCH lose casting i'm more than likely gonna change to something else possibly SAM, or NiN. still leveling MCH first to see how it plays but i liked the casting and the class rewarded high skill.
My first choice was going to be RDM, as that was my initial main back in XI. I must admit though, I really liked how Kat looked as a SAM in the benchmark. The job didn't really appeal to me in XI, or in most Final Fantasy games for that matter, but seeing it in action in XIV has my hopes up.
Then they went ahead and previewed the changes coming to jobs . Remembering how much fun I had with BRD before 3.0, the news that bow mages will be a thing of the past (and not a moment too soon), and with songs appearing that they may have more prominence, they made it tough to not start as BRD when picking up the main story.
Then there is WHM and AST. I would like to see how healers have changed, and when early access hits, it would be a good time to learn the new mechanics and just to see how they feel when everyone else is relearning. Plus if there is a large DD surplus, going healer may help with the ques when the expansion launches.
I'll probably keep changing my mind between now and release, but it will be between RDM, SAM, BRD, WHM, or AST.
I was actually going to change my main i have had since early 2.0 (blm) and go as Red, buuut seeing new changes to blm i will remain, huhu
Red Mage will be my 2nd and Astro my third, War will be my 4th :)
RDM. SCH got nerfed to the ground. They bring a single crit debuff, but lose their entire AOE roots. Bane nerf without bio and reduced potency like flare/holy.They lose weaving in their single target DPS rotation from the removal of aero, leaving just a traited bio II. They lose Blizzard II for AOE Spam. They lose Miasma II, which was still better than nothing. They lose the 10% boost from cleric stance. They lose the SS proc from their pet actions, which synergized with their need for crit, allowing you to spread your dots with increased damage. They lose the ability to replace a shadowflare if the tank is stupid.
What do SCHs get? More mind numbing broil spam, a fairy tether which will probably end up having a fairy based potency aka 50% of real healing potency, a heal that only procs if you dont get one shot at 51%, and a crit debuff, the only real jewel of the expansion.
Good idea SE. Lets cut off 4 fingers from a SCH's hand and put a ring on the remaining finger. That'll make up for it.
RDM looks like a sexy savior. Instant cast raises and a cure that actually heals well. Vera Cure -> Instant Raise -> Vera Cure -> Instant Raise. The recovery potential is beautiful.
I'm probably gonna stick with SMN as my 'main', but at the same time I'm still looking for a melee class that 'clicks'. Right now it's between MNK and DRG, but could it be SAM? Time will tell.
With the DRK changes I will main NIN (my current #2) or SAM.
Ninja Main since release .....but i like SAM just to much will switch my main to SAM.
My old Main PLD looks cool again. So i will level SAM/NIN/PLD -> than a range dps or a healer :D
So torn as a MCH. And it's strange because I tend to like Heat Gauge mechanics in other games. But in this case it looks like the only reliable ways to build it are Flamethrower on a 60s cd, and Heat Stabilizer on 120s cd. There'll be changes to how you once intuitively responded to having reloads ready, not to mention the min-max potential of say - breaking rotation to try and overheat 10s before a boss jumps, which could be quite hard considering F-thrower and Stabilizer are likely to have ideal rotational spots. Maybe it won't feel as bad in practice, but for some reason I'm really hesitant on this.
It would be easier if their Heated combo moves didn't look super cool :P
The alternative is BRD, which looks amazing now, but in reality the gameplay might end up too simple for my tastes...Straight Shot, DOTs which now last 30s leaving more time for Heavy Spam and focusing on BL / PP / song rotation. Which is great mechanically but might be too simple for my tastes...I'm one of those weirdos who likes lots of buttons. RDM is quite similar to 3.X MCH in some ways, with a mix of short and instant casts for mobility, and 50% procs. That said, it's important I stay in the physical support role as a main. Decisions, decisions...
I'm maining both RDM and AST..I just need to figure out which will I level first..
I'm thinking SAM or RDM. I've been a BLM main, and it doesn't look very exciting. You're stilll just spamming Fire IVs, just they've given you the ability to spam more of them, possibly more flare usage for AoE, and a nuke to use every 30 seconds. It just looks boring because it looks so much the same. An expansion should get me excited for what's new but instead BLM just has me thinking what's the same.
SAM looks more or less perfect. Straightforward and no silly mechanics that don't make sense. I like that RDM is not just spamming one element like BLM does, but the aspects of using a lower level spell to start every chainspell might get boring. Other than that, it looks good.
AST and SAM. I'm going to level AST first through the story but I'm going to work on SAM by doing dailies and beast tribe quests. I hope to have it to sixty by the time AST is seventy.
Between SMN and BLM right now. Very torn at the moment.
