Challenge Log: Uncap Battle Class EXP

So I know this was a big deal back when Heavensward first came out and the topic has died out but I'm going to bring it back and hopefully get some answers.

So why was the challenge log portions for battle classes capped off and not uncapped from 50-60 for Heavensward, yet Gathering and Crafting classes saw their portions uncapped?

Gathering and Crafting classes are far easier to level than battle craft classes as you can get HQ items for Crafting classes made by friends or bought off the MB and turn in for up to double the EXP normally earned and for gathering classes there's 1-2 levequests that have a EXP bonus dependent on the points you accumulate when doing the leve and gathering specific items.

Will this be amended in Stormblood?

Will it remain uncapped for future expansions? Or will we see it capped again with the expansion following Stormblood?

I just want to know why Yoshi-P and the Dev's decided to cap the Battle Class EXP portions of the challenge log at 50 and not increase the rewards as you level from 50-60.

DoL/DoH have fewer sources of XP available, no to mention the lack of daily roulettes and armory bonus.

But they are the easiest to level as I've stated above with reasons. Even without the challenge log they are the easiest classes to level.

No they don't and if you find DoW/DoM harder to level than DoL/DoH is because you are doing something wrong. Also, Leves are limited.

So to be fair, let's just require the leve turn ins to be made by yourself, no? Same for GC turns ins, of course. They do have the crafters name tag after all. Now I think about it, I would really like this idea. And surely people who level crafts are interested to learn how to craft the items right.

If you nullify the roulettes and compare how DoM/DoW and DoH/DoL level, Yes DoH and DoL are easier to level. Not everyone is a social little butterfly and can handle the pressure of being a decent DPS, Healer, or Tank via a roulette when you're grouping with strangers who are intent to order you to do a speed run or belittle you and/or boot you from an instance because you're still learning a class. You're probably about to use the "Go with friends" arguement, well not everyone is on around the same time or not everyone has friends ready to help them push through dungeons.

Which I liked, but the leves are still there. You need do your battle leves and gather leves by yourself, why should you be able to pass crafter leves without own work.

You don't have to do battle leves by yourself. Plenty of people have lvl 60's power them in leves at lower levels. It's the Grand Company leves you have to do by yourself.

Dungeons are a main course of playing battle class in MMO though. That you don't find them to be your thing is personal choise you do, it doesn't mean that the battle classes in general are harder to level. You have limited your available sources of experience by yourself. However since vast majority of the players don't find trouble with them, the experience from roulettes can't be ignored when comparing the sources. It's like, if I was complaning it's too hard to get PvP coins because I really don't find PvP battles comfortable.

In 1.0 you could start the game as any class be it gatherer, crafter, or battle class. Not every MMO follows the main course of battle. There are a few that deviate from this path.

Dungeons are not the main course you can take to level a battle class either, they are also not a staple of MMO's as there are several MMO's that have different ways to level. Dungeons are just an additional way to level.

I meant to post this with my earlier statement but not everyone is confident with playing the class they want to play and cannot take the pressure of being yelled at for messing up one single mechanic. This has been discussed in various topics and I'd rather not deviate this thread from it's original topic so please try to keep on track with this topics content.

But you can't nullify the roulettes, regardless if people aren't confident enough to use them. They are a part of the game, and should be included in the entire equation of how battle classes gain exp, especially the leveling roulette.

Now I never actually noticed that the challenge log was uncapped, but as someone who has leveled all classes (battle & crafter/gatherers), I never noticed to be at a deficit because of it being capped.

and the same way you used the arguments about not having friends to push through roulettes is the same way I can use the same argument of not having friends who are willing to create crafts for your level turn-ins, which are just a limited resource. Leves didn't even gain you as much of a boost in HW as it did with ARR. I won't go into which one is easier or not, because they are too different to compare, but battle classes have a lot of different opportunities to be leveled, especially with the addition of POTD.

I'll be fine with the challenge being capped or uncapped, as long as it garners good xp, which it did throughout my leveling.

Following this line of reasoning - a person being to uncomfortable to enter a leveling rouletter and doesnt has friends to do it with them - can you explain why that person would want to level a second (or third etc.) class at all?

Leveling the first class happens by just following the Mainquest, doing sidequests and doing the dungeons required for the story. There is little to no extra leveling involved - so someone who doesnt like running dungeons and only wants to see the story can already do that by just following the story.
Why would you need additional classes at max level if you dont even feel comfortable running dungeons? (And why are you playing an MMO if you havent got used to running dungeons after well over 200 hours of playtime and at the very, very least 19 dungeons - because thats how much it should take you to get to SB?)

I see no real need to alter the exp-output. There are many, many ways to get a decent chunck of exp for your battle classes - if you dismiss some of those, thats on you. And if you dismiss the ones that actually prepare you the most for using your class in level 70 content, thats even worse. Remember all those tanks that leveled by doing fates (and couldnt tank a dungeon in the end)? Or all those people who get easy exp in PotD, but no proper experience on their class? Leveling outside of dungeons doesnt need to be made easier when most of the actual battle-class endgame is happening inside dungeons - the leveling experience should prepare your for that - I'm exaggerating a bit now, but I dont want to enter a level 70 dungeon one day to have the tank say "First time tanking a dungeon!"

The game will let you avoid dungeons for the most part for leveling one class - that will allow you (theoretical) access to the whole game-content. If you want to have another class at 60, you gotta put the effort in. Exp are cheap enough today. If you dismiss some of the best options - thats on you.

I think we can reasonably expect the challenge logs to be uncapped to scale up to level 60 in SB, similar to how we went through this expansion with them capped at level 50 values. While the challenge log was a great source of leveling exp in ARR, HW saw it as a minor source source of exp for catching up jobs to the current content. I would be truly surprised if SE thought anyone would actually care about 84k exp from a challenge log when the scaling in SB is probably going to be close to 5 million per level starting at 60-61. That's probably going to be close to the exp value of a single SB fate (after the initial few weeks of SE keeping all the SB fates at nerfed xp values because they want us to level off the MSQ).

They do. A DoH takes 3 hours to lvl up from 20 to 50, a DoW takes 3 to 4 days

Mats needed don't come from thin air (or the gil) And again, leves are gate behind a time wall, I believe is around two weeks for 100. And no, from 1 to 50 at worst take two days or so of real time without power leveling, available to DoW/DoM too with a friend BTW, just like HQ DoH.

It takes 3 hours if you already have all the resources available. Either having gil to buy all the mats or even the crafts you need (which is not cheap, cause people know how costly they can make it and still sell it), or having your gathering classes levelled (which takes a long time) so that you can spend hours collecting all the mats yourself (which can take upwards to 3 days to collect everything for levels 20-50), and you would probably also need a friend who is already levelled to make them for you, which not everyone has.

What do you need to level a battling class? yourself.

Okay I'll be honest, i have no clue what the hell the OP is trying to talk about. He mentions the challenge log and then brings up leves, fine sorta makes sense but what the hell does he mean buy uncapped and capped? The only issue I saw was they didnt continue the hunting log, which confused a lot of people,but thats over with. So what is he trying to say? Also DoH/DoL are easier to level than DoW/DoM, and you can use the leve challenge on either set.

The xp rewards from the challenge log is 5%, 10% or 15% of the xp needed to level up. However, the battle classes stop scaling after level 49. You get the same amount of xp from a challenge log entry at level 50-59 as you did at level 49.

Ah, now i see, in hindsight i thought it might be something like that but wasnt sure. As for the scaling, I don't get a say, lol, I "sadly' had everything at 60 before 3.1 launched, well all battle classes. Yay?

2 days if you have no life. 3 hours for a craft fit perfectly in a casual session of play, not 2 straight day of job leveling.

I said two days of real time, or played if you will (there is no need to play non-stop). But to be honest I was very conservative there, people can pull 1 to 50 even quicker. Oh, and again, that gil or mats don't come from thin air, those require a time investment too.

Ok let me ask all the people against uncapping the EXP for the Challenge Log Battle Classes...

Why does it bother you so much for me to suggest it become uncapped? What compels you to shoot down such an idea?

Uncapping the battle class EXP means YOU would get to level 70 faster in stormblood meaning you would be able to start focusing on gearing up and challenging the new lvl 70 only content.
Honestly there's 3 pages now of people complaining about such an idea and whining the single word "no" but there's zero counter argument for why its a bad idea nor does it answer my initial question of why SE did this.

I am just going to say exp in this game is easy as is. I was stuck doing level 50 quests when I hit 60 already, that was annoying. (and having ilevel255 books) Just weird being 60 and being stuck as on level 50 abilities because the game gates you from doing the job quests if you do not have access to HW (remove this plz)

The game has a lot of handing of exp for DoW/DoM, DoL/DoH so I am not sure if we need more exactly. People exp too fast and not know their jobs as is.
