How do I start progressing my crafts past 50 without much gil/leves?

Also, do I really need to get GSM/ARM/BSM to 50? I have everything else up there and I can HQ things pretty easily at 50 or below.

The issue I'm having is I'm very very low on leves and trying to level at 50 is abysmal as my gear for each class blows.

Depends what items you're trying to make. At level 60, you're gonna have a very, very rough time making Heavensward 3 or 4 star items without Piece by Piece (ARM 50). Similarly, Innovation (GSM 50) and Ingenuity II (BSM 50) are some of the most important cross class skills one would need post-level 50. Among all crafting classes, these level 50 cross class skills are actually of a higher priority than things like Waste Not II (LTW 50), Comfort Zone (ALC 50) or Reclaim (CUL 50).

There are many other ways to level apart from leves. Leves is probably the most gil-consuming method out of all, and it should not be done unless you have the money. And when you do use leves, make sure you hand in HQ items to double the EXP gain.

There are some great tips in there, I would argue for comfort zone though and say that it has more use than Ingenuity II especially if you want to get away from needing hq matts for 2 star plus recipies. You would do best to have all cross class skills at hand they will all get used at some point.

Moogle quests are great exp, and your GC turn in can be worth as much as half a level per class per day if you give them HQ on a starred day. You can always use a few extra beast tribe allowances a day for your lower level classes with the ixali to get them some cheap easy levels too.

- Moogle beast tribe dailies
- Ixali beast tribe dailies
- HQ GC turn ins
- Weekly Zhloe turn-ins

Simple way get materials, use retainers to help you gather them. Raise DoH DoL and FSH. If you have done so it should go by fast. Beast man quest every day, GC turn ins as well.

The moogle quests did give a surprising amount of exp and I had no trouble completing them at 50 with horrible gear.

Also I am not too concerned about 60 star recipes I am more concerned with zerg leveling everything to 60 before stormblood so I can participate in the economy.

My hardcore crafting friends and I think that the crafting in moogle quests can hardly be called crafting LOL! After all, you can randomly jam buttons and you can still get it done.
I do, however, find the names of the moogles there very entertaining...

An LS mate got to 60 on the Moogle quests. I looked at her gear. It was horrid. I had no idea they were that easy. The Ixal ones were hard.

I was solid 60s when the Moogle quests came in but I did them.

whelp everybody already said all the low gil/no gil things u can do... Grand Company and Ixal/Moogle quests.

As for the 3 classes you've not leveled you CAN with STRONG reliability get by 1-4 star lvl 60 crafts IFF you're a specialist and for sure have CUL to 54. Specialist gets a cheaper Innovation (innovative touch: it has RNG but it's a more inefficient iteration of the buff); Piece by Piece (ARM 50) is pretty useful......but if you just level ARM to 15 for RApid Synth;and BSM to 15 for ingenuity; you can get by on your Specialist.

ATM BSM 50 is a must if you want to level using the fastest and cheapest way available as soon you hit 55. Anyway, be sure to level to 51 first grinding with manuals, then gather all necessary materials/Crystals (craft any necessary part yourself) for a full LvL 51 set and ask a trader mentor for help to HQ the final product.

At 55, with LvL 55 HQ gear, use custom deliveries components (they won't show in your menu till 60 but you can search for those items) and grind like a champ. Since op stated that he wants to participate in the economy he will need to be able to hq star items sooner or later so there is no reason not to do it now, speaking of which you should be leveling at least bot and min as well. Stick with the script gear since the crafted gear will be obsolete with the new lvl cap there is no need to waste gil on melds

Fair warning about Ixal quests. Some of them require that you have DoL leveled as well. If you don't you'll have to skip them, and I believe those typically give really good exp rewards, oak knots, and materia. You'll always have the option to repeat the ones that don't require DoL classes.

I didn't even use leves getting from 50-60 and didn't start doing moogle quests until lv56, but I also took the long road. All the crafting that was involved with upgrading gear (crafting mats as well as finished goods), obtaining Supra/Lucis tools, GC turn-ins, and burning up as many allowances as possible on Ixal quests gave me the exp I needed. During long crafting sessions, I would also stack exp bonus items (food, FC bonuses, squadron engineering manuals, etc.) I'm pretty sure when all of them were stacked I was getting 550%

Once getting to 56 collectibles basically replace leves without the allowance constriction. Between those and moogle quests, you shouldn't have much trouble getting your crafters to 60.

You are right that some of the Ixali quests require you to gather some materials in the field before crafting something, but they dont really have a level requirement. All you ever have to be is level 1 in the appropriate class. Of course, harvesting some wood from the ixali logging grounds area(to use one example) is certainly safer at a higher level, but if youre really careful it can be done at the minimum.

Yep they are lvl one and skills to increase yield, etc. do not work on them @.@ so you don't need fancy gear or anything, just llvl 1 tool is fine.

Good points! However, I was also thinking along the lines that those BT quests place you in Coerthas, and there might be FATEs or mobs in the vicinity that are aggressive, and no stealth in the early levels. Even if so, they are still very doable. I just wanted to put the warning out there. :)

Oh yeah! No Stealth at Coerthas can be deadly. But if you start off with Botanist/Miner level 1 on Ixali, I think by the time the Ixali quests send you to Coerthas, you will probably have level 6 or 7... possibly level 8+, which will have Stealth :)

Anyway, low level gathering is sooooo easy to level-up that someone should have no problem getting level 3 or 4 on the same day when he/she picks up the class... Together with GC delivery mission turn-in's, it should be cake to reach level 10 anyway :P

You have to be careful with Stealth, though. Remember that it ranks up so there are limits to what each rank will hide you from.
