I just got kicked

Ok so I usually avoid FC's But recently I was met by a fun and helpful player. I joined their fc. I thought everything was going fine until I was approached with a suspicious deal. I was asked to "trade down" some gear I asked what exactly was it to be traded down then they person simply said never mind.

I was then kicked from my fc.

I feel so violated and hurt. How is "not being helpful" a good reason for a kick!?

well in dark souls its a concept of handing down gear to another character which involves trading with a partner. which in dark souls is completely legal. In this game however I've never once been approached for something like that. needless to say I filed a report because the moment I asked "what exactly do you need traded" they said never mind. also I'd never met this player until now

and the literal moment I filed a report I was kicked.

I was never once approached or talked to about me being disruptive or causing a problem. I've left fc's before on poor terms before but that was my own choice.

This ^^ not sure what they were getting at, but it sounds like they did you a favor. It's not like you can trade anything that isn't purely levelling gear.

It also sounds really dumb because you can't trade any piece of gear that has even at least 1% of Spiritbond in this game, so it's usually impossible to do any kind of "trade down."

So they were nice and friendly.. but you don't feel comfy at least pm'ing someone from the fc to ask what happened or why you were kicked? :P

unlucky is correct. because I had just settled in and spent 300k gil on a room... I was scared my mind was screaming 'rmt' I don't know what it really was but all I know is I got kicked for it.

I did. I was furious and demanded and answer. and what i got was and I quote "I removed you during the preliminary time, a few people didn't like you and didn't feel like your fit in. thats all."

Sounds like there's the actual reason you were kicked. Though it doesn't show very much tact from the fc that they didn't at least talk to you about it before/after it happened. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience x_x

Allow me to explain why this isn't a good reason. In the business world you don't fire someone for "oh billy doesn't like you" that's harassment. I carry my self with dignity and repose. I was never hostile towards anyone, I was helpful ( ran dungeons with our newer members) and I was encouraging when some of our older members wanted to branch out and form their own fc.

the very accusation "you weren't helpful" will not hold up in any world of social propriety. and "some people didn't like you" is more than enough ammunition to file a report. which I did.

So someone asked you to trade some gear to an alt and you reported them? I would've kicked you too probably.
Also, this is not the business world, this is the spare time hobby entertainment world. Why would they keep you if they don't like you and you don't fit with them?
And reporting them for kicking you because they didn't like you? I'd be sure to blacklist you afterwards too.
That's my opinion, sorry.

I usually got experiences with people acting friendly in order to enter a fc (and then check our chest and leave (empty-handed,ofc)), but this is the first time I see a fc is acting friendly in order to get a player and check his gear!

I have had someone ask this from me before. It was for an alt character for purpose to play certain role in RP storyline. What was "traded down" was few glamour gear items that they had got and dyed correctly beforehand so as not to have to go through leveling the alt just for the dyeing purpose. Reasons vary. It's possible your way to ask what they want traded came of as annoyed (even if not intended so) and they said "never mind" just because they didn't want to bother you any more. If you then jumped into reporting them for something that would really not have been a big deal, they might have seen you as a bit hostile. Misunderstandings and all that.

I wager a mentor kicked you, who else would?

I was never given any previous warning or advisement in my behavior towards others in the FC. I was just approached my a pc I'd never seen then when things didn't 'go according to plan' I was kicked by the player who had used the seemingly new pc

For whatever reason, they don't like you, and by reading your posts I am sorry to say I kind of don't want you in my FC either. I dunno, you rub me the wrong way, don't get offended its just your tone is HOSTILE.

Anyways move on, so what, not everybody has to like you its a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game, tons of people like you, few dislike and I wager some outright HATE you. Big deal. If there is no harassment or racial slur or bullying, move on. Geez.

Simply not liking you, however regrettable, is a perfectly legitimate reason to kick someone from a FC. They were lame not to actually talk to you before doing it but it's their FC and nothing stops you from making your own, so the onus is on you to fit in with them if you want to be part of their little club. I'd be just as confused about 'trading down' (I don't understand why speaking in plain English is so hard for people) but it doesn't sound especially shady.

You'll find a better FC. One which fits you and doesn't force you act in a way you're not comfortable with.

Your story doesn't quite add up, I feel there is more to this than you are telling us.
'Trading down' is a phrase I've never heard. However, reporting someone because you didn't understand what they wanted from you is hardly appropriate. You said they were nice and friendly so why not simply ask the person what they meant?

Looks like the FC had a trial period, they can't stop you buying a room the minute you join, but common sense should tell you that your position in the Company is not secure until the trial period has ended.
Membership of a Free Company is not a right, more like a privilege. Companies are perfectly entitled to kick people who 'do not fit in'. It's not a reportable offence.

thanks. I apologize for coming off as hostile. I was so blindsided by the kick that I didn't know what to feel. I never told anyone about the report and was waiting for a GM (I honestly was just scared of a rmt) when the kick happened. I was never told about a trial period or what was expected in the FC I was just let in by a different and much friendlier person who was a lot of help in my dps training.

I waited to buy a room and felt especially cheated when I was kicked not even an hour after I settled in.

Something just occurred to me. This "person I've never seen before" might have just as well been the main character of someone who had recently been playing their alt a lot. So while you had been nice and helpfull in their presence earlier, you seemingly suddenly turned (seemingly) annoyed/hostile. As for the trade down as a concept, there's nothing against it in this game, by the way. It's not made easy, true, and if it concerned large amount of money, shards or such, it might be on the suspicious side. But if someone just wants to move random selection of inconsequent gear pieces on occasion there is no cause for alarm. Also, the people who report someone are not told about the outcome of the report. Additional information might be requested if necessary but not always. Its totally possible however that GM had contacted (or even punished) the guy you reported. Getting or attempting to get someone punished for no reason tends to be perceived badly.

That's just it! I asked them what they wanted to trade and they wouldn't tell me! ;-; they just said never mind and I got scared. the report was to clear up any doubts. I was going to ask if there was anything going on but before I could get any answers I was kicked.

Step 1: get "never mind" (possibly meaning, "oh, sorry that I bothered")

Step 2: report the person

Step 3: ask what it was actually about

You jumped the gun and wonder why they felt threatened? If you have fate in them, you dont use report as first tool, you ask first. If you don't have fate in them, why do you care they didn't have fate in you either.

This is what baffles me the most in this thread. Also, there is nothing in this whole situation to be reported to the GM. There was no harassment. A misunderstanding that ended in a bad way, happens all the time. You get up and move on.

They told you the reason and you still want to argue? You know, more you argue more the kick feels legit. You and them just didn't mixed. As said above, the kick was a good thing for you both.

About apartment, I'd suggest next time to wait enough time you and your next fc have settled and things are going good.

It is more than normal that someone new in a FC is "in trial", nobody knows you and to make a feeling it needs time.

this is not work, this is a game. do you call the cops when people don't want to play football with you and don't want you in their team? even when you are good at football? filling a report because you were kicked out of your FC is not that different.

and you said they kicked you within your preliminary time. not even a buisness has to give you any reason for kicking you during a preliminary time. so yes, they can kick you because billy doesn't like you. and if you and billy have to work together in a team, it's not even that unreasonable.

Cause tbh in the last weeks some are complaining for everything. Even if it's a general community , this doesn't belong here, it belongs in private or a in a ticket .

My 2 cents, grow up, life is full of "surprises" and your generation is losing badly at logic and emotional control or restrain.
And trust me when it will hit in full force, either you will break or you'll face the situation. At this point you're in category 1 as most of ppl that i see complaining on this forum.

I think the biggest mistake was to even mention in this thread that you had filed a GM report at all. NEVER discuss your GM reports with anyone, anywhere, for any reason. By coming to the forums with this, there's now a good chance that people from that FC are going to think that your primary recourse for something you don't understand is to fill out a report. They will feel even more justified in letting you go. When they see a new FC tag over your name, they may even contact that FCs leadership with that information, and the new FC may decide that you may not mesh well off of it.
Not surprisingly, some FCs out there DO have players who engage in RMT; buying from them, selling to them, or even using bots themselves for gathering and mass crafting. There's also a possibility that you just got kicked from one because a member who did one of the above could tell how you felt about RMT, and felt threatened that you would inevitably find out about/report their actions (some people have been known to openly talk about their illegal activities in FC chat, and knowing a certain FC member is waiting to screenshot/report is.....)

It's really not a good idea to assume that a FC is going to be anything like the business world. Some FCs are all business, but many - probably even the vast majority - are more like social clubs. FCs would like their members to hang out together and have fun. Depending on the FC, you wouldn't necessarily have to have a bad attitude for folks to decide that you're not fitting in with the group. I know from personal, real-life experience that even just not being social in the RIGHT WAYS can be enough to get you excluded from a group.

Don't take it personally if the group decided that you just weren't a good fit. They were probably right - and that's not to imply ANYTHING negative about your own attitude. Some folks just don't mesh well together, and you're probably better off finding another group that's a better fit for you.

As for Sneaky McShadypants, I highly doubt that he had anything directly to do with your dismissal from the group. I, too, have not heard the phrase "trade down" used in this game; it's possible that, as others have said, this person wanted you to help trade items to an alt character. I'm not sure.

As for the lost 300k, that sucks to be sure, but even if it seems to be a lot of money now, trust me when I say it's a drop in the bucket in the long run. Also, I believe you can recover any furnishings that were lost when the room was demolished; I think there's an NPC in the housing district that holds them for you.

I am understand that you did not like being kicked, but at the end of the day, the reason why the FC wants you gone, does not matter. If they want you gone, you are gone. Just look at this as a blessing in disguise and move on.

I have no clue what is going on and I never heard of this term of "trade down" if they just wanted trade some gear they could just asked that? Regardless seems like they where doing you a favor by kicking you so soon rather then after you put tons of gil in furnishings that get destroyed. It could also be a new player that didn't know what they where talking about and had no idea that gear bonds exist?

Just find another FC that fits you better, really not even sure what the point of this thread is.

Sounds like a shady FC, for a start anything you can trade becomes untradeable the moment you use it for anything, whether that be glamour to taking a swipe at a level 1 squirrel.

Might be best to just buy an apartment instead of an FC room - same price/size, but you won't lose it if kicked.

Some FCs just have bad management, been in couple of them. Sounds like that was one of them, You better off not being in a FC like that.

Sounds like a douchey FC. They should at least discuss things with you before they remove you. You're better off.

There isn't really much in the way of 'shady' stuff you can trade in this game. Likely they just wanted to trade crafted levelling gear to an alt or such, not being able to mail stuff to your own alts makes this a hassle unfortunately =(

The only dubious area is of course RMT derived gil, but then they are more likely to ask someone they trust and have known for a while irrespective of if it was legitimately earned or obtained via RMT.

Either there's more to this story and your manners within the FC, or they weren't the right FC for you. Eitherway, you're likely better off out of there, take it as a lesson and move on <3
