Will current dyed gear lose its stat bonuses? [dev1207]

Am I going to log in after 1.20 and see "Dated (Red) Cobalt Celata"

I can see thee options

1. Gear becomes Dated
2. Stats on color gear disappear
3. Old gear will keep its extra stats and be a rare item moving forward

... if its the latter I'm inclined to start crafting.

I think it will be the number 3.

I don't believe it will be any of those options.

If I recall correctly it was already stated that if you have a stat inducing piece of gear it will be renamed appropriately. Such as Raptorskin Harness of Strength (Black). None of our gear is being "Dated" this time.

I don't understand why the stats are remaining the same. So all they're doing is changing the recipes? Not fixing the fact that the Cobalt Cuirass (Red) has better stats than the Cobalt Cuirass? Man, this patch is starting to seem disappointing.

if they are keeping with color stat bonus's i wonder what stats blue cobalt would favor.

Actually, there making it so you can have the bonus stats without dying the gear. Basically you take the item and upgrade it with whatever stat you want, then you can (if you want) dye it a certain color. This thread is just about what will happen to the items we already have, for example the Cobalt Armor(Red) we already have will become Cobalt Armor of [whatever attack power+ is named](Red).

They are seperating colour from stats.

Currently we have
Felt Hat -> Felt Hat (green) (with +3 MND)

now we will have
Felt Hat -> Felt Hat of the mind (taken from the new list)

and then, if you choose.

Felt Hat of the mind -> Felt Hat of the mind (green)

There are no special cobalt armour listed in the post... there appear to be for most other equipment though..



The only worrying one is there are no alternative to cobalt gear, so maybe the base cobalt gear will be given the stat?
Or they missed it off the list.

So to sum up what everyone just said. I will use Cobalt Cuirass as my example:

1st synth
Cobalt Cuirass

2nd synth
Cobalt Cuirass of {insert stat bonus}

3rd synth
Cobalt Cuirass of {insert stat bonus} (color)

and all the existing gear that is colored and stat'ed will become that item in the 3rd synth.

they have simplified some of the recipe's where you pre 1.20 got a stat boost from the dye'd item but only had 1 dye choice available. These stats are now part of the base item so:

Has been fixed but when an item had several stat boosts to choose from like felt hat (mnd/int) then those still have a mid lvl step to pick what stat you want before applying the dye.

On the item table they say some colored gear will be changed. Cobalt Cuirass (Red) for example has no possible attribute bonus so it's going to lose the attack power on it and just be HP/VIT.

As of 1.20 they aren't. Color =/= stats. They are entirely separate now. Nothing to do with each other. You can have an item with increased stats and of a different color though.

Just wanted to pop in to confirm that equipment stats will stay the same once 1.20 hits and items will just be renamed to the new names.
(For example: Before Patch: Felt Robe (Green) -> After Patch: Felt Robe of Casting (Green))

So un-dyed cobalt gear still has weaker stats then dyed? The only new recipe i see is to dye them blue and if the stats arent changing isnt this the same problem as before?

Only if you want.

Cobalt cuirass will be like current undyed cobalt cuirass, but dyeable.
But you can upgrade cobalt cuirass to Cobalt ciurass of slaying, making the current "red version" but undyed.

Again, after upgrading it you can dye it...so, in short, you can have both versions of cobalt cuirass undyed, red or blue. Cobalt cuirass of slaying will have the +4 attack power regardless of color.

Yea this is how I assumed but i didnt see a new recipe for the "Cobalt cuirass of Slaying" so i was just asking. I prefer the look of undyded cobalt but if i cant ill settle for whatever til they can work out the kinks in the dye system.

Hmmm... I wouldn't be too sure about that. It would mean that they've omitted a lot of recipes from the lists (basically all single variants like cuirass, trousers, subligar, etc.). I was thinking they would either all be "upgraded" or "downgraded" to the whatever version they decide to settle on. Can we get clarification from the devs?

They probably did skip a few recipes. Having certain gears with bonus stats based on color and whole others don't would be just too stupid...even for them.

Probably the full list might be updated at synthesis part of lodestone when patch time comes since most of dyeing recipes there will be outdated so an update is unavoidable.

EDIT: I was checking the list and actually all upgrade recipes of armorer are missing so i wouldn't assume it's complete right now.

From how it looks all red cobalt is getting changed to have the same stats as undyed.

Because the dyeing recipe changed.

Hopefully Blue Cobalt has the same stats as Red. Red is ungodly ugly.

I think it's complete, it seems like the only items upgradeable are those that have 2+ different kinds of upgrades.
Cuirass set, Hauby set and Bilaud set, for instance, have only 1 color right now and all of them don't have upgrade recipes on the list.

We might know tuesday. This maint probably will update the recipes for 1.20. ^^

I was specifically wondering for the Cobalt Cuirass too, as I see a new color, but no associated "Cobalt Cuirass of _______" for bonus stats. (I'm also noticing there's no renamed "of _______" Cobalt Haubergeon, so I suppose the same point applies, even though I'm fine with the red.)

I'm going to foolishly be an optimist for once, and hope the undyed version of the Cuirass is having its stats improved to match the red, because the red (and blue) are both terribly ugly, in my opinion.

red = same as blue = same as undyed. You pick color. Stats will be the same.
