I know that we're getting new character design options in 2.0, but I just wanted to push for this specific aspect of the character creator.
The current tattoo/face paint options are sort of... lacking :/ A smudge under the eyes, a (nifty looking, admittedly) tattoo on the neck, and the Miqo'te get a few face marks similar to XI's.
I'm hoping that we get a design-diversity for the face paint/tattoo design similar to Skyrim's; really, I just want to look more bada**/fierce, not like I smudged some white paint under my eyes and called it a day xD

Before I got the game I was like:
WOW look at all the customization we can do compared to FFXI :D
But, when I actually got to making mine, it felt like there was still very little I could do. I didn't find one hairstyle I liked at all. It kinda reminded me of the Sims 3. All the hairstyles sucked :/
I really wish we could have a bit more freedom when it came to this.
So, I am going to agree with you on this.
Not something we need NOW but, it would be nice to have I would think. -

Ofc. :3 And I know the devs./Yoshi are working hard on making the character creator better since the lack of diversity is really a leftover from Tanaka's vision; so while I don't think we need this now AT ALL, it'd be great if when the new creator was released in a year it had stuff like...
The blue Braveheart face paint option from Skyrim when you make a Nord male xD Or the dotted/striped options for Redguard females. Nothing over the top, since XIV of a different style than skyrim, obv., but it'd be cool if we could look 'meaner', if we wanted to. -

Hm.... tattoos is cool and all, but i would suggest making this optional to
change / remove at a barber shop or simmilar.
(since it been suggested sveral times before & might be in consideration)
I could see myself regret picking a certain facepaint, hair style and then
later on felt it didnt match up my gear or w/e.
Id also like to see tattoos not just for face, but maybe legs, arms & back aswell.
(even though some might be covered with certain gear)
Tribal style tattoos are cool, might give some characters abit more gothic look to them.
Side Note:
Id like to keep my current haircut in FFXIV 2.0 thou, so please dont fully remove this style! ; ; -

Seriously though, there should be some more advanced character customization. Right now, I think I read somewhere that a female character's breast size is somehow related to which face you choose...? Really?? How does that work? o_o
