Gunblade Junction Job?

So people who are into FF8 will fully get what this is but basically if they added a Junction Job that used Gunblades would everyone be interested? Aside from fast stabbing attacks that also shoot players get abilities from the spirits.

Basically the Class would cross the Primal Sprite from Summoners.
Ifrit would be for Power. (Players gains the same attack abilities the spirit has.)
Titan for Defense. (Players gains the same attack abilities the spirit has.)
Garuda for Attack Speed. (Players gains the same attack abilities the spirit has.)
Laviathan for Magic. (Players gain water based magic spells.)

That would be pretty freaking cool! I want a gunblade for my MCH :D

Back in 2.0 release time when discussion about New Jobs such as Ninja, Red Mage, and "Gun" Job there was mention of a Gunblade Job but Yoshi-P state he is holding it off for once we begin moving into Garlemald or can access the Capital City of the Garlean Empire.

If Yoshi-P still hold on to this statement now since it has been 4 years since he last stated this expect Gunblade Job for either 5.0 or 6.0 depending on which will the the Garlemald Expansion.

You'd think by now they would of added it, its one of the most requested things.
However for this to work it would have to be a DPS, with the switching Primal Spirits and all.

it is Machinist but back then it was just known as "Gun" Job.

Not really a fan of Gunblades :/

Even if they added a Junction system i'd be happy. I recently started playing FF8 on my Vita again and i forgot how unique the system was. Kinda fun actually. To have something in FFXIV would really be cool, even if it was just for one class.

No. Not only is the Junction system a completely different ability system to what we have here in FFXIV so it wouldn't fit into this game at all, lore wise gunblades are technically Garlean weaponry, which is actually quite rare, only carried by their most elite troops (Legatee and their Tribunes, and lower officer ranks like Centurions), and not the regular rank and file cannon fodder troops that make up the bulk of the Garlean army.

Besides, a gunblade is technically two weapon types in one, which contradicts the basic elements of the Armoury System, which is pretty strict when it comes to a weapon being either long or short ranged (after all, we already have Lightning's FFXIII gunblade the Blazefire Sabre as a weapon for GLA/PLD and it's just classed as a sword with the gun portion nonfunctional - Garlean gunblades on the other hand seem to be mostly just used as guns with a long bayonet attached, and as we already have a gun Job in the game (MCH) - not including the long dummied out and quietly ignored MSK class.

So I'm sorry to say, but I seriously doubt you will ever see an actual gunblade using class or Job in the game, instead gunblades would probably continue to appear as weapons for existing classes (GLA/PLD and MCH).

Thing is it kinda would fit, i mean come on why would people not try to replicate the Gunblade weapons of the empire?
In any war real or fantasy the soldier/warriors/etc. has always taking ideas for weapons from enemies. And with Cid going from barrier systems to airships and so on it only makes sense at some point he would consider it.

As for the only likely classes to see glamour style Gunblades don't forget the upcoming RDM, it also uses a sword.

Think of it like the reverse of Red Mage Mechanic where Gunblade focus mostly on being Melee using the Blade aspect and then use a few Range Skills as a side skill set then heads back into melee combat for their main mechanic.

As i said if anything the Junction part alone would bring a whole knew aspect to the game. It would also give the Primal spirits more use.
