[Request] Can we have a Triple Triad NPC at each flag in shatter?

Guarding base is so boring,
so I thought why can't we have Triple Triad matches with the GC NPC while sitting on base?
Or if you won't add any NPC there, just enable Triple triad matches near the flags.
It would be fun to see an opponet ninja pop near you and requesting a match! :)

All jokes aside, keeping your map open removes the need for guarding the base. NINs can't stay hidden and cap a base, and with a map open, you can watch enemy movement, as you should be doing anyways.

From an opposing standpoint, IF by chance I'm attempting to steal a base with teammates and a lone base guard is there, well, you're a free kill since you're alone. So again, no base guarding needed.

Never understood the whole "guarding base" thing myself, yeah. At best a solid tank might be able to survive long enough to call for backup and chase off the offenders if the team is close enough, but most of the time just watching the map is sufficient and a singular person "guarding" is usually just a free kill for the other team AND our base gets taken anyway so they're functionally useless. I've mostly seen it used as a free excuse to afk the entire match for relic lights - I've started booting a few who are clearly afking, die without defending themselves and don't give any shout-outs that anything happened until we're already on our way back to base because duh, they're alt-tabbing and just now popped back in to check on things.

Base guarding has it usefulness, it prevents base from getting stolen by other tanks and healers and solo dps, plus it prevents having to retake it by the whole alliance and being out of position for other more important objective as well as slowing down momentum if the alliance is doing good controlling the middle.

The need for that, however is invalidated by simply keeping your map open. Are color markers of a different team moving toward your base? Send a detachment to intercept them (NOT the whole alliance). Did a enemy marker just appear on your base? Ninja. Send 2 or 3 people to handle him. Has a whole team decided to storm the base? Alright, it's go time. Fall back and defend home turf.

All this, you can see and plan by just keeping your map open.

Whats better? To player vs Player or guard bases?

Sending 2-3 ppl to retake the base has never been a thing, im seen entire alliance run to a small ice node when a big ice node is about to pop.

Do you know how difficult it is to try and make Garos understand the concept of "Furthest first," when all smalls pop? You want us to try and organize sending small detachments?! Oh dear lordt.

Although I do enjoy when a base afker, sorry I mean "protector" yelps "Incoming at base" and come to find out after your entire team sprints away from their precious ice, the "incoming" was 1 lone SMN and the protector was a PLD. -_-

Do not underestimate a smn chicken nugget. And yes I have seen smn use them in frontline and the feast.

It's AFKing which is legally accepted by Garo players because it looks like a legit reason for not doing anything.

This is a great idea! But it needs to be refined.

First off, in the base area needs to make you invulnerable so as to not disturb the Triple Triad matches. Entering it when an enemy is present will make dramatic music play and the sky darken as you're forced into a Triple Triad Duel with an opponent. The winner gets to live, the loser is sucked into a void portal and dies horrifyingly. The base automatically is yours when there are no more people to challenge your dueling skills left in the area.

I report at the end if I miss them AFKing during the game. Anyone with a score card showing 0/x/0 for damage caused/received/healing. It's simply not possible to cause zero damage if you're fighting. If you're not fighting then you're healing, so that won't be a zero either. If all that has happened in 20mins is that you took damage then you have been AFK/using automated movements.

Yep because that's what I want AFKing people on the flag while losing it at the same time, "lemme just beat this NPC and then after that ohhhh! Wait till I get my hands on you you'll see!"

Enemies only appear on map if in battle. Once out of battle, they disappear. You won't know your flag is being taken until it's actually gone.

A good NIN will know your movements before you've even took them.

The point being that taking a flag for 2 secs it pointless, just wait until they flag it and take it back. They are wasting time if they can't hold it for a decent amount of time.

Points wise, in 72m it's pointless. But base caping in 24 is op.

One thing though that is truly a hoot is when you cap an enemy base and then watch them all sprint away from large ice, effectively leaving half their alliance behind for the slaughter, all the protect their precious base. Happens. Every. Time. So in the sense, it's not pointless and it's quite entertaining.

I agree with you on concept, but it doesn't always work out that way.

That can be said about anything in PvP.

That is true, however you should generally be using tactics that work best for the team, or giving advice as such. I've spend too much time yelling at people to stay focused and kill targets in our area and to ignore the enemy base, but instead a group of 3-4 just keep running over there and dying, causing us to constantly be outnumbered by 3-4 in our fights, which against good teams or premades is death.

Yes, good players that draw more players to them can help to balance the fights, as you mentioned taking a base and drawing the whole alliance back to you when Ice is about to spawn is good. However the 100 other copy cats that try to do what you say, aren't going to pull it off correctly.

I would call it more of an advanced technique that can work at times with the right circumstances, but doing it by default as your main tactic, is more hurtful then helpful IMO.
