avoid Balmung
The restriction is there for a reason, it's not like they're doing it for fun. If the population on Aether became even more skewed to Gilgamesh and Balmung than it already is, I'm sure that datacenter would see even more crashes and connection problems than it already does. Expanding server capacity isn't simple and certainly not cheap.
If you really want to get into a specific server, and particularly Gilgamesh or Balmung, a paid transfer is pretty much your only option.
Overcrowded servers should have a ban for ALL NEW character creation and transfers. Sorry but have YOUR FRIENDS move to your server if they want to play with you.
We don't need to cram everyone onto the same server they need more strict server population control then more lax control.
Exactly and asking for them to remove the restriction entirely is completely out of line. On a side note I created a character on Gilgamesh and play with my friends all the time on Siren using private parties in our new party finder. Can't wait for cross server linkshells and I read FC chat is coming although not sure how that will work.
this.
People are overpopulating 2 servers for no real reason, then complain about a non existent crisis they created. I am on goblin a small server with pleanty of room to grow with a ton of housing open. Markets they need filling and free companies looking for members.
Zelera is also in need of players as the on going joke there is more housing then players. with cross world pfs.. really should be no reason to not spread out. imo, they should lock out gilamesh and bulmung permanently from new players, like my g/f said they did in ff11 when hades and odin were the top servers.
Yes, people would less miserable if they weren't all fighting for resources on overfilled servers while others are virtually ghost towns. Set up some kind of free migration off the full worlds for people who want to move closer to friends on less busy servers and reopen character creation when/if the populations stabilise, or use a system like FFXI's world passes so only friends of existing characters can join the busy worlds. The problems with the current system are plain to see every single day (and that's just what bleeds over onto the official forums).
I really wish they'd offer free server transfers, perhaps with a time restriction on how often it can be done. For many people, they want to be able to play with a wide diverse number of people. I want to play with my friends, sure, but some are on Excalibur, some are on Gilgamesh, some are scattered far and wide. I also want to hang out with the RP community and see the events they put on, and play with the FC members I've been with since 1.0. No matter where I go, I'm going to regret not being with OTHER people on other servers.
The solution, thus, winds up to cram all the people onto one server so they can play together. And that's how you get Balmung.
my g.f played ff11 for 7 years from ps2 na launch till abyssea. it was locked a good bit with odin, simple because it was funny to log in and people would see "welcome to hades". My g/fs server garuda was 1 of the first NA servers, but was merged with lakshmi.
I was pointing out it was locked from character creation. :)
ESO has everyone on one megaserver for each region. It has far more players than FFXIV as well. Putting players on different realms is an outdated mechanic from a previous decade who's only purpose is to drive hype and realm transfer sales.
Instancing zones solves the issue, ensures zones are never dead, and allows friends to always play with one another.
