Longevity of Primal Loot and Primal Content, and Storyline.

I had an idea I wanted to drop on everyone to preserve the primal fights throughout the storyline until version 2.0 came out.

Step #1: Make all the primal loot equivalent to each other except for the added elemental effect. So for example: Ifrit Axe has XX about of dmg and so does the moogle axe but Ifrit has added Fire and Moggle has maybe added Wind. In addition to the elemental effect they can add individual stats based on the element of that weapon. EG:

Ifrit's Axe: Atk Power +, STR+ (raw power)

Garuda's Axe: Critical Hit Rate +, DEX+ (hit more often)

Titan's Axe: Parry Rate+, VIT+ (tanking axe)

So outside of primal fights you can use whichever weapon you want based on the extra stat depending on the situation or content you're trying to nail which will give us a sense of choice and individuality to our characters. (Assuming they keep releasing dungeons alongside primals)

Step #2: As the primal battles are released let's make the new primals element weak against the old primals element. (I don't know what the element chart is) So the moogles can weak against fire so there will still be incentive to get Ifrit weapons to defeat the Moogles easier. Then the moogle's wind weapons will be used say against Titan because Titan is weak against wind, etc.

Step #3: After however many primal battles they squeeze in, you need one from each primal battle to forge the "Ultimate Weapon" and then they implement Bahamut (who if I remember right is non elemental) as the last primal battle before 2.0, who, although you win the fight, maybe does some crazy shit to end the world and revamp Eorzea into 2.0!

In short, all primal loot should equal save for the elemental effect and a stat based on that element, and the next primal should always be weak against the element of the current primals loot. Then we use all the weapons to make the "Ultimate Weapon" and slay Bahamut who destroys the world and /hello 2.0!

I like the idea because it keeps previous weapons from becoming obsolete too quickly. However, instead of just elements (as they don't really seem to make much of a difference in a fight), they should give more/less stats based on the element.

Give them the same base damage, but different attributes based on which element (as you originally said, just in a different way). This will open for people wanting to collect other weapons and use them in different situations.

That's not enough incentive though, the Tank-only MRD is only gonna go for Titan's axe and nothing else. If there is an elemental weakness to all the primals then these weapons will continuously be used when going back to the older fights because they will be superior, especially for those who have already accumulated all the axes but now decided they want the Ultimate Fist so they go back to collect the rest.

I like your idea, put they will be put to more use if the elemental damage really makes a difference in dmg output against a boss. Now for something like a WHM, thats just unfortunate, maybe on their weapon they can add what you suggested instead of elemental bonus.

All they need to do is make sure the elemental potency makes a noticeable difference.

However, you say it doesn't show incentive, but I also don't see how only giving elemental weaknesses vs primals and/or specific types of mobs (if you go from fighting ants and some other monster-family between XP camps you'll constantly have to be switching) instead of giving each weapon it's own specific purpose for a very specific playstyle. The problem is that it makes the weapons only used for -those- specific contents instead of opening up your player to specific playstyles.

And it's okay if the MRD tank only wants the tank-axe. That's what this game needs: The ability to choose between a variety of items that helps you further customize your playstyle.

Well it's simply from the perspective that without the elemental damage you don't NEED that weapon to fight a particular primal. So, i understand the need for choice and individuality but, after getting Titan's axe I won't want any other weapon. The idea is to get everybody to NEED each weapon so they will WANT to do every primal.

Maybe they should do both? Add the elemental effect PLUS the individual stats, like you said, BASED on that weapon. So dex = wind? and so forth. So outside of primal fights you can use whichever weapon you want based on the extra stat depending on the situation or content you're trying to nail. (Assuming they keep releasing dungeons alongside primals)

It doesn't, or at least it doesn't show it as being healed at chatlog.

By the way, I'd also like to add that they probably won't want to add "ultima" weapons to the game yet, since we're only level 50 right now and -just- past the first year mark. Maybe 5-6 years in they might add weapons with those names (I'd love to see some weapons with heavy-FF-influenced names) but for now I just don't see it. However, I do believe they could run with the idea and name it something different, like "Sword of the Primals".

I like the idea of Bahamut returning (I REALLY hope he's part of the 7th umbral event), so I'd love something epic to get from him. I just hope they don't keep up with this whole "Weapons only" deal. We have plenty of weapons to go around. What we need now is "class" specific gear to give everyone a bit more identity for their classes (when not playing a job)

I agree about the armor, I always thought weapons would be a primal thing and armor would be a dungeon thing (whish is sort of how it is now considering the strongholds, but they are too chaotic) So I don't mind if they stick to that track.

In regards to the Ultima Weapons, sure they don't have to call it that, better if the save it, I agree, but the concept of using all their weapons to make one that triumphs all sounds great! And yes we definitely need to fight Bahumut before this is over, even if it's a wounded Bahumut, he'll still have enough to rape us.

They can always try putting the primals into an actual dungeon, and let pieces of armor drop from the different dungeons. For example, all boots from Garuda dungeon, or it doesn't have to be boots for every class, but one piece of of the supposed "AF" armor from each dungeon.

So by the time you're done all the primals and their dungeons you got your class identity and a badass weapon that you worked hard for and ready to put some dents in Bahumut!

I'd love to see the primals shown in an actual dungeon instead of a single fight. Would make them feel like they are on a more "grand" scale.

It wouldn't be hard for them to do either!

If Moogle has Wind what would Garuda have?

Moogle would typicaly have Umbral imo, but I think that is being removed lol.

This is freaking genius lol I would fight Ifrit and Moogle to obtain items (or weapons) to forge an ultimate weapon.

It would be very worthwhile otherwise I have zero interest in fighting primal (especially ones that are old)

Yeah, I'm definitely warming up to the "ultimate weapon" idea, I just don't think they should go with that name. But it does make them give you reasons to want to collect all the different weapons from different primals! Though, the only problem is that we pretty much know Meteor is what's going to be the revamp event of Eorzea. At least from what I've heard.

I'd still LOVE to fight Bahamut soon though. Would be a wonderful experience~

Maybe after we almost slay Bahamut he calls forth the meteor that will send us through the transformation. Meteor is non elemental right? Like Bahumut?

Think you should fix yer post on the wind axe >.> dex has been a thunder stat in nearly every ff. In ff11 ramuh gave the crit stuff, jupiter's staff was crit dmg, and even in ff14 the dex rings are purple, purple is the thunder element. Wind was agility but that doesn't exist anymore >.>

Ah you're right, but they are just examples anyway. We can leave the devs to deal with the technical stuff, just want them to run with the idea.

But seriously, this idea is awesome. Can anyone at least put some input as to why they think it is bad or what they want to add/change/remove from the idea?

Yeh so we fight a wounded Bahamut, or maybe we fight those two evil dudes, save Bahamut and then he calls upon his desperate strength to bring the meteor that destroys the planet! I agree with you WiiSam that the weapons should be of equal strength, with elemental/status properties added. It doesn't make sense to bring out newer, stronger weapons for each primal.

I disagree with you on the order of elements though; I personally believe that the next primal should be of an element, and drop weapons of an element that the previous primal is weak to. The primal fights should have reward for replayability, encouraging those who have defeated the next in order to assist those on previous primal fights, adding a boost to attack power with their newly obtained elemental attributed weapon.

In other words were making a Evoker Ring type quest from FF11 collect "junk" take to a NPC and he is so happy he gives you a wtf awesome bling for it; Im done with that the Dev's also talking about other items to Primal fights since Ifrit's items are made from his horns we might get armor from Primals as well. So it wouldn't be to hard to add Astral Ash to Ifrit loot and Mog Fur to Moogle loot and Garuda Feather to Garuda and so on and so forth to have a huge list of items you can either collect for trading or for crafting with

sure all those methods could work, just so long as you there are items from each boss you have to collect.
