How many years has it been since Gold Saucer was added to FFXIV and now it just sits there collecting dust with nothing to offer. The prizes are beyond stale and the games are worse! Thiugh this is just my opinion and even though I still enjoy the few games and events we have there every once in awhile (especually Triple Triad), the Gold Saucer needs way more things to do than it has now and more new prizes that'll really get people coming back!
And also updates on the current games and events there; people have constantly pointed out here that Chocobo Races should be updated with new tracks and ways of racing eachother, like being able to race around Isgard and Illyshire, and being able to having flying Chocobo races. This should have been a thing a long time ago and while it's understandable that FFXIV's team may still struggle with dispersing development funds for their game, it would actually really help if those funds went to updating and fixing up existing issues in the game instead of throwing in new feature that'll just add to more of the problems FFXIV already has like many, many, many people have said before here! So to cut this short before I throw myself off track of what I'm talking about, again please make the Gold Saucer better than what it is now, because for myself and possibly many other players out there, it's just sad to look at how once was a great addition the Gold Saucer to now it being just a crappy mini-game farm for old outdated prizes.

i started a thread on this issue myself it's going to need rides updated games and more gates new prizes updated chocobo races maybe even flying chocobo races that making use of flying in hsw areas like we've had the same race courses forever....frankly it's gotten beyond boring aside from doing daily minipot and weekly jumbo. That's another thing Has anyone ever actually won the top prize or close to top prize because it seems like everyone just gets the pity prize when they get no numbers or once in a blue moon the last number gold saucer needs a serious overhaul DEV team

They've been adding new prizes for a while. Music sheets, the Archon Chair, and soon the Makai Sets (non-Dyeable). Not sure about new Attractions myself, but given the comments on Blitzball, I'd be surprised if it wasn't added to the Gold Saucer.

I like the Gold Saucer. The problem is that everything they have added is a bust. Since nobody likes any of the mini games, they probably don't see the need to spend money and add to it since it will most likely fail like everything else.

Most of my time is spent in the Gold Saucer, or doing Gold Saucer-related activities. Chocobo racing, Triple Triad, GATEs, daily/weekly cactpots, not a fan of Lord of Verminion though... While I like the current content, some good points were brought up. It is true that the Gold Saucer content is stale, and has seen little change (other than Lord of Verminion, which ended up flopping) since the implementation of the Gold Saucer long ago.
-Chocobo racing still has the same three tracks, and there are no new challenges. Racing remains server-side only, so you pretty much always race alone.
-There's still only five GATEs. Six if you count the two different Cliffhanger parcours?
-Other than new minions that get added to the game, Lord of Verminion doesn't change. It is probably the least popular activity in the Gold Saucer.
-Minigames (crane games and all those) aren't exactly an activity anyone would want to do extensively but their presence is okay.
-Cactpots are fine. MGP shops are fine (imo).
Only Triple Triad keeps getting new "content" each patch. It's good for me, as I am an avid player, but that can't be the only thing that gets regular updates or changes. There could definitely be more to the whole thing. I recall, when the Gold Saucer was new, a lot of people talking about wanting FF7's Battle Square in there. A lot could be done with that. Definitely more GATEs need to exist, and more chocobo racing tracks. -

Would love to see more events, I reaaaaallly dislike Anyway the Wind Blows GATE and want more jumping challenges (gates or not I don't care, love those things, like you have them in GW2).
Of course more rewards is neat - I've also thought if they perhaps added current tier rewards at the end of specific challenge logs it'd make the place more active (like win 10 chocobo race challenge = the normal reward + 50 scripture).
I think they could reasonably make a bullet hell game (top down shooter), perhaps make it reminiscent of Flammie (and make it the next Fenrir available mount to buy :D).

I always had hopes the Gold Saucer would be the games gateway to short term event quests. Like at the beginning of a month to the end of the month there would be a special event linked to a daily quest. The player would complete the daily and earn a number of event coins, with a chance to win more during the quest itself. The player could spend the currency on whatever minion, card, costume, collectable offered that month as well as advancement items like materia or items for the relic grind, money pouches, etc.

There is no reason to put the dyeable gear in GS because people can't be bothered to play Frontlines or Feast. I do believe SE is trying to encourage more people into PVP at the moment. Adding the Makai gear sets to Gold Saucer is a clear example of them adding random content to an area that doesn't need it and makes no sense to be seen in-game wise. If those sets were added to something else like Khloe's wonderful tails or even PoTD that'd make more sense.
Oh, and also not just for the Makai gear but for glamour gear as well, stop adding undyable versions of gear with a dyable version available! That's just a waste of time and makes no sense, or at least to me it doesn't! Sure, the idea seems solid at first since most people before couldn't afford to buy most glamour gear when they first came out but now it's just silly wasted data floating around the game. The same goes for special glamour sets we pay for through Mog Station, make that glamourable, too, we pay 10 to 18 dollars for that stuff, stop being cheap!
Also, adding updated minigames from the Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy VII would be really great and they could even add certain character gear from that and other past FF games as prizes! I would love be able to get my hands on Cloud's Buster Sword or or Noctis' Royal Raiments as glamour gear! I had forgotten about the one or two new items they had add recently, but it's only a few; like one or two items added every, every so often is going to really get people back into playing Gold Saucer's minigames which are, as myself and many other people have said before, stale!
And sure the Orchestration prizes are kind of nice, but not really something I'd call "exciting enough" to make someone want to run. and play Gold Saucer. If Orchestration could be played anywhere you wanted through a special Linkpearl, then I'd actually feel those prizes would actually be worth getting. But all this is just my opinion. If Orchestration sheets were made travel playable, they could even add past Final Fantasy music sheets to the game and stick them in Gold Saucer. I would love to be able to get my hands on all of FFXIII in game if this happened! -

I would like to see at least 1 GATE active at all times as I miss them near constantly and don't like waiting for the appointed time in a zone that's supposed to be a time killer.

Well, given that the last major feature added, Lords of Verminion, was such a flop, that may have put a damper on their desire to do more major additions like that. (And with how complex it is, it clearly took a lot of time and effort to develop that thing.)
I do kind of like the logging mini-game they put in at the same time. And Triple Triad can still be fun from time to time. They've done some updates on that. And there are new rewards coming out fairly regularly.
It's just nothing really big since the LoV update. As others have mentioned, maybe blitzball will be the occasion for their next big Gold Saucer attraction. -

I want the same mobility on my race chocobo as I have on my mount chocobo. The on rails low response thing we have now reminds me of those mobile racer games that were trending awhile ago (except those were more responsive and had more variety) and not something I'd expect to find in an mmo.

Chocobo races is no fun also because other people rarely show up for them (well, at least for me) and like somebody had suggested eariler, it should be made so other servers can play along with yours as well, eliminating all need for NPC fillers conpletely!
Ooh. if this actually does happen, do any of you think we'll get any FFX related glamours, minions, etc? :) -

I think the biggest problem with the Gold Saucer is the (now) lack of desirable prizes. As someone mentioned, a couple of orchestrion sheets and a minion every four months or so don't really cut it and I certainly haven't been motivated by any of the prizes since buying Fenrir. If even half of the things people on these forums ask to be put in the cash shop made it into the Gold Saucer instead, it'd be a whole lot more active.
You may call me crazy, but another problem seems to be that most of the prizes are incredibly cheap in comparison to how much MGP you can be spoon-fed ever since their "MGP buffs." The more expensive prizes are, the more time people spend in there earning them (and by association the more value people put on them). Take the Fenrir mount; when it was released, that was highly-desirable goal since 1 million MGP either required the devil's luck in the jumbo cactpot or devoting weeks of your life to staring at the Triple Triad UI after finding an NPC to "farm." His face looks like it was run-over by a motorcycle or dunked in a vat of acid, but people wanted it. Even the Adamantoise was somewhat desirable and much cheaper but still requiring time.
At this point though, nothing they have been adding as a prize in the Saucer really takes much time to save up for. The Archon Chair? Since doing Gold Saucer challenge logs for squadron recruits trying to get certain NPCs, I was already well-above the cost on release- and I haven't done the mini/jumbo cactpots in months and never did more than I needed just for Saucer challenge logs and I was done for the week. I only bought it since I was spending MGP on nothing else all this time, rode it for a couple days and pretty much forgot about it. This will be a problem with the Saucer if they release new prizes so cheap and few and far inbetween: People will likely already be sitting on the required MGP they accumulated... -

I thought there was supposed to be more to come after the patch that implemented the NPC race challenges and increased mgp. Not sure what happened to that though. Oh well, apparently extra fun content isn't becoming as important anymore as butt sliders, hempen underwear, or Mog Station glamours.
