Clear display of SMN dots

With the revamp of the combat system, can we have a clear display of our dots as SMN? Like showing them as if we were dealing damages with an attack.

Honestly I have a hard time noticing any damage that isn't my own in group content. ._.

Honestly I'd like to have the same "yeah big number" reward for my summoner as I do for my blackmage, and since the "big number" skills aren't frequent enough for SMN, seeing a delicious stream of dots would be just as good.

Just, for the love of Bahamut, can we PLEASE have our dots display during content with more than 8 people?! It is kind of important to know when we need to re-apply. This has been broken since launch and honestly there is no excuse for it still being a problem.

Yeah I wish they could fix this as well. I don't play SMN much, but on my MNK it sucks when my Demolish and Touch of Death are invisible and I can't see how much longer is on them both and they are pretty important for MNK to maintain properly and if Demolish is already on you are supposed to do Snap Punch instead for more damage but I like can't see/remember if it is still on or not.

More experienced MNK's might remember when they put it on but I am still kinda learning how to play it better so it sucks I can't practice properly :/

I may be wrong since I don't play a Summoner, and even if I'm right I still think this is a good suggestion and should be added, but aren't your personal debuffs and dots always shown first under the afflicted enemy's status display, and with green numbers showing their remaining duration, instead of white numbers for other player's debuffs' duration? Its always been this way for my Thunder Spells.

I haven't looked, but doesn't the interface have a setting for "Show only status effects I apply" in there?

DOT effects, don't count as status effects?

It is in most content. The place it becomes a problem is 24 man raids. The targets in this game only have 2 available lines of debuffs that it will show. If there are too many DoTs on the boss when you use your DoTs they will be invisible. They still work; like the damage from them is there but you can't actually see them on your target.

But the OP is asking about fly text for the damage I believe. Usually it is a bit hard to see DoT damage on mobs; the fly text is a bit small/understated.

Correct, that setting is present. However, during fights with a large amount of people (24 man raids, hunts, etc) it does not work correctly because after a certain number of dots register, they stop showing at all. So since yours aren't showing, they can't be first.

It is terrible honestly.

Both of these are true. Your own dots are listed first, with green countdown timers instead of white, and there is a UI option so that only your own debuffs will be shown under the target's health bar. (This unfortunately also includes if you switch to healer and target a party member; you won't see any debuffs under the main health bar of your target when you target a party member)

Ah, thank you for the clarification. As a BLM Thunder is pretty much fire and forget, launch again if the buff procs. I can see how this would be super annoying for Summoners, Scholars, and other DPS that use their Dots as their primary source of damage.

While technically true, as the setting is present, it does not work correctly during fights with a large number of people.

The filter only works if you get your dots on before everyone else and is the first maybe 20 of them under target bar. It won't work if your dots get truncated due to display cap.

your own dots are not always first, as others have said, usually yes, but not always, if it's already reached the two line limit.

your dots do have the green timer, but imo it is still quite difficult to see, the green and white look almost identical.

you can change the settings to show only your dots and debuffs, which does work, but then you also lose other key information, like drk needs to know if a mnk has applied dragon kick, or if trick attack is up, etc

its all well and good SE spending dev time on new glamour hats or whatever, but imo addressing things like this should be taking priority

The problem is that a given status buff will still be assigned a, let's say, ticket number, for which only 50 or so can be stored as displayable data raid-wide, so if you didn't have it up in time, it doesn't matter if your client isn't showing numbers 1-35, 37-50; if one of yours would still be past 50 (or whatever the exact cap is), it won't be displayable. I can only guess it's a limitation within their netcode. Other MMOs can hold far more, and may allow the user to customize (de)buff display order.
