Can world bosses get a little more love?

Just failed the Odin fight today due generally to lack of time and people. I remember back during the 2.0 and 3.0 releases how literally half the server would go to get one shot by literally the most dangerous enemies in the overworld for the thrill of the fight and AT the time the glamour rewards.

All four world bosses we have now are generally fun fights and nowadays most people have next to no incentive to do the fights since either people have everything the bosses have to offer or just don't care for the rewards.

I don't think it'd be a bad idea to add the same rewards (if not more) to world bosses that we get from S rank hunts just to keep their relevancy up. I know in reality they're just fates but it is kinda sad to see these awesome world bosses spawn and watch their timers run dry because no one cares for their glamor rewards.

I dunno maybe I'm just too sentimental with Odin, what do you all think?

I've actually thought about this very thing, so I would approve of this.

It pains me to see these fates get called out an then go ignored because, as you said, too many people simply gain nothing from a participation at this point. The battles themselves are far too well done to just be left to rot.

Adding the S-rank reward to these fates would keep them relevant almost permanently, since hunts themselves also never truly die. In addition, since these fates are also rather tougher to kill than the S ranks due to the built-in level/ilevel sync, it seems fair to add this extra reward, these bosses really cannot be steamrolled the same way your average S can be.

Wouldnt it make sense to just increase the time duration of the fate?

I know a lot of people don't bother because they don't actually get anything from completing it. I had to fight Odin 5 times before I got any rewards, because I didn't have a group that could score enough points on him to earn anything lol. I kept doing it because I liked the fight, but I didn't know you could actually get stuff from him until that 5th time. XD So that might have a lot to do with it too. People in their FCs tell them "oh you can get cool stuff!" but when you show up solo, that's not the case.

Behemoth I got lucky. He spawned just as I was running by to go gather. Did some shouting. It only got me a full party within 10 minutes, but more showed up by the end.

And I don't think I even know what the other 2 bosses are, tbh lol.

Yeah glamor rewards and the thrill of the fight aside there's no real reward for them and I can honestly say those fights are 10x more challenging than an S rank even with the player mobs you normally see at S ranks

I want the rewards and want to do the FATEs, but I have only ever been able to successfully do the coeurl one. I've gotten there in time to get bronze for Odin twice, and I think I saw the Behemoth and Ultima FATEs once but was too late.

I wish that there was a way to know when the FATE was coming, so I could actually plan to be in the zone on time. I have tried camping in the zones but had no luck.

It's a simple fix. World bosses should give Allied seals and Centerio seals. Maybe 2000 Aliied and 500 cent and that would be more than enough incentive.

2k is a bit much lol I was thinking like 2-300 more than what S ranks give in that regard.

I don't think they should give seals because they aren't hunts, but I would totally do Odin for 100 lore and 30 scripture

I haven't done this much because I don't really care for the glams it gives.

Well, they should start by fixing an hour for the FATEs to spawn, like every day/once every two days/whatever, at X server hour, like... 5 p.m. or whatever they want.

You can't do a content when you don't even know the content exists. Set a fix hour for the bosses to spawn is a good start if you want everyone to enjoy it. I haven't played GW2 in almost 3 years, but I remember when the FC's summoned the world bosses at a set hour, in the morning and at evening, so most people could participate.

Have the world bosses give tomes/some piece of relevant gear once a week. Have them spawn more often, you get nothing if you've cleared it already for a given week.

On a related note, almost every MMO I can think of does world bosses better than XIV sadly.

Now I'm not asking for anything outlandish like 1000 tomes or 2k seals or anything silly. Now considering they are classified as notorious monsters, who's to say they can't offer up some hunt seals? I think the rewards you get from an S rank maybe even a bit more for the challenge would be reasonable and fair since their spawn timers are on a 36 hour cooldown, simply to keep them relevant.

People always need seals and people always need tomes. You always see a literal horde of players appear for S ranks because they have something to offer to every player and the same can happen for our poor unloved world bosses. :P

Odin's problem though is that the fight was specifically designed to get tougher the more he was defeated, requiring even more players to participate in the fight. Since we're now in ARR's fourth year of service, he's had four years worth of defeats to power him up to ridiculous levels. He's essentially unbeatable now because he literally would require hundreds of players in the FATE to bring him down.

Perhaps a nerf is in order for the Dark Divinity's FATE... if nothing else so that new people can at least get that achievement finally.

I'm pretty sure he gets scaled back down when he "wins" basically when the timer runs out or gets everyone's favorite one shot out. If that were the case I don't think the group of people that was fighting him today would have been able to get him to 55%.

I mt'd for most of that, sure his cleaves HURT but if he was as strong as you state that fight would be unbeatable regardless of how many people are there xD

I think it's fine the way it is and we just need to accept that no one wants to do them. Even if they were to reincentivize it again, it would only last for a brief space before we go back to not caring about it anymore. They can't endlessly replace the carrot on the end of that stick. I'd rather them focus on giving us new world bosses/FATEs instead of wasting time (temporarily) revitalizing something that's over two years old.

They should add Boss themed weapons to all roles. That would help somewhat. Maybe every now and then throw in a new boss themed outfit.

Make them a SSS Rank mob (more Hunting seals and such). Remains a FATE (though as we know, Odin, Coeurlregina and Prey Online still require us to look for them) and therefore gains/recedes in power from previous fights depending on how many people join.

In my opinion the problem is that you can get the same loot in the instance.

That's why people which want this glamour would just farm the 1min boss fight instead of the world boss that will take around 10/15mins and respawn like, every 24hours ?

Are you certain of this? I have killed Odin twice without hundreds of people present and he doesn't give any achievement. Just Odin's Mantle. Maybe it was nerfed at some point throughout Heavenward?

Uncut is the achievement, clearing with the highest ranking. And no, he's not constantly powering up. Like any other Fate it's adjusted each time dependent on how things went last time, to my knowledge.

His FATE gives an achievement (it's called "Uncut"). And Enkidoh is partially right in that Odin increases in power the more times he's defeated in a row, but has apparently forgotten that he resets back to baseline once he "wins" and his FATE is failed.

Ahh, silly me. I looked up titles on Gamer Escape instead for some reason. Still forgot all about the achievement though.

Yesterday I finally got the coeurl achievement after months of trying to do it without it failing because of lack of people. But we did it! :D

But yes, it'd be cool if there were more rewards for it.

Looking for anima horns since HW launched, could not do it yet..

I've gotten nothing from the various world bosses only because I never find anyone ever doing them. When I tried Odin a few weeks back and decent sized group attempted it... no one could do it. So I stopped caring entirely.

There is -- most of these FATEs are preceeded by a special weather condition (Tension for Odin, Hyperelectricity for Proto-Ultima, Royal Levin for Coeurlregina ....)

It is beyond stupid, the way that the different parts of the Coeurlregina fights are separated by HOURS. With the possible exception of Fishers, there aren't a lot of reasons to hang around in the Forelands for that long. As a result, very few people attend all three parts.

Of course, that little rant is beside the point. As many have noted, the main reason these bosses don't get much love is that they don't give much love in return. I'm sitting on twenty Odin Mantles, and have already bought all the glamour Odin has to offer. Same for the other world bosses. There's just not much reason for me to do them anymore. Tomestone and/or Hunt Seal rewards would be a great start to get folks back into these.

Give meaningful rewards for clearing world bosses and maybe people will do them. Otherwise they'll be forgotten.

Once most people clear, have titlet or have glamor they won't really do it unless there's a shout and they are willing to help. Maybe if they gave a special bonus to relic light farming or item for it would be nice as an incentive. These light grinds are awful and always looking for a nice bonus to them.

The one in the Forelands with the giant spikey turtle in the crater Is amazing fun. Shame the only time I've seen it done is when the luminous crystal stage of the anima was released.

Darkscale is the same, it was the equivilent to Svara 3.0, and was an extremely popular and fun fate. Empty wasteland now though.

If there is one thing we have learned it is that the community is masochistic enough to farm RNG prizes because it at least gives them something to do, while they complain about how RNG sucks.

Have the world bosses give a drop for at least a silver or gold ranking in the fate. Turn the drop in for a random voucher that can be redeemed for prizes. They can even take some RNG out of the equation by letting you trade some of one voucher for another. Give something worth while for the rarest, like minions, maybe a mount, and unique glamour or housing items you cant get else where.

I want to do the proto ultima fate at least once, but unfortunately I don't have the time to camp the map several days in a row in hopes that I catch the spawn. Time limitations is a huge factor in this because the majority of the population has work or school, so getting people who have already received everything they want from these world bosses to be interested in them again is important.

Including SE's previous title, FFXI. Come to think of it, that IS really sad.

Coeurlregina and Prey Online suffer heavily from lack of notice. Coeurlregina requires someone be in the Forelands and notice+report the Royal Levin weather. Prey Online requires someone notice the 5 min long Hyperelectricity weather in Azys Llya. Both of them are easily missed because people are not in zone when they spawn.

The 36 hour on a clear/18 hour on a failure respawn timers are not bad. It is just stupidly easy to miss a spawn.

You know the content is pretty much that, right? like, there isn't anything else to do since everything in this game is RNG.

And again the only solution to this is fix the bosses to spawn in a set hour, multiple times a day, or once everyday but in different hours, but always the same for that day, so atleast people have a chance to even discover that content exists.

Yes, there is a level of sarcasm there, because I don't like RNG, but I understand why they use it. RNG is used often in games to help prolong content because people usually don't bother to continue content once they get what they want. It isn't about fun if there isn't a rewarded. Adding spawn timers would help, but that won't bring back people who have gotten what they want from the rewards. There are a lot of things in this game that aren't RNG but a lot of people don't use them because they have gotten what they want, only do the RNG versions with a weekly lockout to get the same reward, aren't interested in it because they don't find it fun, or it requires a grind they either don't have time for or don't want to put effort into. With world bosses there isn't a whole lot they can do to keep people interested unless they introduce new rewards that take a while to get.

Supposedly they nerfed the timers on all 4 fates in 3.5. Anyone know by how much?
