Questions regarding "old" content

So I would really like to experience the old content for the story aspect. Are these things still in tact? Bahamut, Crystal Tower, etc. ? What order should I go in? What are somethings I should know and what content is considered "out of date"? The thing I am most excited to see is Crystal Tower. Is it in any way still relevant?

you can do it in any order you like they are mostly considered side quest of their own. Min though you need to do main story line to unlock.

People still run old content for things like the relic, wondrous tails, etc. They will most likely skip all things because they've all done it before, leaving you behind if you watch them. You may want to advertise on party finder that you are a first timer and want to experience the story and see if people will join you. They will probably want the second chance points and bonus tomes from your first run.

It really would depend on your server but most people will want to run all this content unsync which I personally hate myself but it will allow you to see the content, and people still do the cyrstal tower series for wt. Then as far as binding coil, that too will prob have to be an unsync thing as well , but maybe if your lucky you can find some people that willl want to run it with you.

Can you explain second chance points and bonus tomes? Thanks for the tip on party finder. Sounds like a good way to get a group together that doesnt just want to speed run.

Unsync means no level restriction requirements, no xp is awarded basically. Second chance is for the new challenge book you get for a chance at tomes, gear , minions, ect. WT I think they mean about Weekly Tower or Wondrous Tales run fif tower its for a an oil item for relic anima. Normally those are 750 Tomes I think before they were 1800.

WT = Wonderous Tales = a challenge book for level 60 which includes 16 more or less random duties to clear for a chance to get gear, minions, tomesstones...
unsync = No downsyncing to the apropiate level/itemlevel of the duty (not for duties > level 50 and 24 man content)
bonus tomes/experience = first timer bonus = a bonus for all participants if a char clears a duty the first time. Chars below levelcap get experience, chars on levelcap get tomestones

The Wondrous Tails (Tails instead of Tales.. no clue why) feature keeps people coming back to old content and even rewards them for having first time players in the party.

Don't be afraid to skip cutscenes to keep up with the group. You can go back to your room at the Inn and watch them from the journal thing on the table in there. I really love that feature.

Just put up a party finder for it. My sis actually managed to get a group together willing to run Titan EX synced with her (for the nostalgia I assume haha. Or maybe they're just masochists). It took a while, but there are people willing to do old content. If nothing else, you can definitely get people to run it unsynced with you, but if you want to learn the fight properly, synced is the way to go. <3

As to the OP, the Crystal Tower raids are done more than the Binding Coils of Bahamut. Partially because there are only 3 levels of Crystal Tower and 13 coils. You will find people doing the "key" coils - 5, 9, 12, and 13 - but not the rest so much. Party finder is the best approach for coil (and people will want to do it unsynced [lvl 60] to make it easier) but you can probably get into Crystal Tower through the duty finder.
Once you get to 50 and are gearing, I'd start with Crystal Tower because it is more forgiving (more people).

Most of the level 50 dungeons aren't run anymore except in the 50 roulette by people needing tomestones. Some of them have bits of side story associated with them (like the history of Mistbeard) but CT and Coil are the big ones.

Apart from raids, there are a couple side-story quest chains that story-driven players may like. The moogle delivery quests are all about learning some background lore. And if you want a bit of comic relief, Hildibrand is quite popular.
