The Emporer's New Clothes (New Chinese Exclusive Items)

Not sure its something I would use or want, but its pretty sweet looking otherwise. Like the Mystic from FFT. Pretty nice.

I love this, but realistically will never have it even if they release it outside of China, because it'll cost some ridiculous amount like $20 or $30 and be for only one character. If it were account wide I could maybe justify it, but that's an awful lot of money for pixels.

That top looks amazing.

Both the Chinese and Korean Dress have been the same price so far, and while it is more expensive than other cash shop outfits, it's no 30 dollar moogle mount :rolleyes:

I'd absolutely love to have this in our version, but tbh, I expect it to look a lot worse ingame xD

There are so many F2P Chinese MMOs out there, with so many pretty clothes. I think that is why Square gives nice things to the Chinese community.

Besides, Korea and China have both been getting region exclusives relative to their cultures regularly. We have not.

It's important to note that China (and I believe Korea too) has their game published by a different company and that's a lot of why they get to have things like that made by / for their teams. Their patches are also significantly behind ours last i looked (and as a result none of their servers are shared with NA/EU/JP).

SE should still give us exclusives if the others continue to get them. Even Japan got the maid/butler outfits before we did, straight from SE, with NA/EU as an afterthought. We should get our own first dibs/exclusives on certain things to, if for nothing else then as a thank you for being long time supporters of the game. Longer than Korea and China have been.

It's clear you have no idea how licensing works. The event that included the maid/butler outfits was a 7/11 promotion if I remember right, and part of the terms of that agreement almost certainly included exclusivity for its duration.

The victim complex doesn't really help things, it kind of just makes you sound whiny.

Of course they did. It was still a good business decision, as it promotes the game (as a promotion should). I don't know why that would be surprising.

A good business decision, sure. But at the price of excluding a huge chunk of your playerbase. It's wrong, unfair, and if done too much, can really upset the people who are being excluded (and possibly affect profit as a result).

Just imagine how much more money they could've made if the promotion had been in multiple countries too? Sure, they ended up getting the outfits to other countries in the end, but if anything that's even more unfair. Because it goes to show who their first priority is (Japan, not NA/EU). Not the only way they show a strong preference for Japan either.

Too much exclusivities with SE in this moment :/

Until it actually starts costing subs (which, if it ever does, it will almost certainly be a minute number of people), it's a good call to suck it up and do what the other company wants for the promotion, rather than fight it and not do the event at all.

It sucks, but business is business.

As long as we get them in due time, I'm willing to wait.

Meh, I'm not feeling it. There's so much more glamour I'd like in this game other than another robe set number 53. :rolleyes:

I LOVE this idea. It would be the best practical joke ever! Maybe for April Fool's Day. Does FFXIV even have that, by the way?

They could even release a real version later, without the trick. And people wouldn't trust it. They'd be all paranoid and demand that their friends e-mail them a screenshot of them wearing the robe.

Around these here parts - at least, Balmung and Gilgamesh - it was not unusual (infrequent, but not unusual) to occasionally get put with a DF group of half-drunk (or completely drunk) FC members trying to wreck a Trial in underwear or swimsuits :D

Or, you know, BE one of said FC members.

Looks quite cool, would love to see some ancient Chinese stuff brought across - I like a lot of their styles, and it has massive influences into other Asian cultures as well. Looks like the art on the right doesn't have some of the cool dangle bits on the left, hopefully they translate across. Perhaps the scroll becomes a unique glamour for Arcanist.
