"WHM/CNJ" Class Changes - "what I think is gonna happen"

"Cure, Cure II, Cure III" all gonna go in serious change -
1: Meaning the all become single spell
2: Cure will change too Cure II and cure II change cure III when you reach certain level.
3: the mana cost will be heavily reduced. will be fitting so its not too mana heavy
4: light of this change new traits/revamped ones based on

"Stone, Stone II and Stone III"
1: same effect as above they all become single spell that evolves over course of your character dev
2: all versions of the this spell would apply heavy status

"Fluid Aura/Dispose" are merged into single spell. instant cast has a decent cool-down

removing cure 2 and 3 wouldn't work because they all serve entirely different purposes. Cure is a cheap but weak cure, cure 2 is a strong but more expensive cure and cure 3 is an AoE cure.

For stone I'd actually like this change, it would be nice if they made stone 2 and 3 a trait that enhances the potency of stone 1 when you reach the level rather than adding an entirely new spell.

I don't agree with removing repose, this is just another "I don't pvp therefore it's useless to me, so must be useless to everyone" suggestion. Fluid aura and repose are fine as they are.

I won't name shame of course! But I don't think it's that guy. Sounds like fun though.

Honestly I think an overhaul of this level is unlikely. It will get some new spells and some streamlining of its existing ones. I have considered it might become the WAR of healers, having superior dps at the cost of utility thus giving it a value in raid scenarios. However I don't expect anything drasticly different with WHM in Stormblood. They are revamping the combat system, not completely throwing the existing Job identities out and replacing them with something new.

Problem with White Mages right now is we are over-burdened with healing spells.

then you have the healing spells in Heavensward.

we do not need that many healing spells. in fact we are flooded with spells that remotely do the same thing . just better versions.

ppl prefer "Scholar and Astra" because they offer more to the raid and groups. they have our stoneskin and protect. what do we have they is supporty and raid friendly

If you want to make your predictions about upcoming class changes, that's fine. But maybe don't make a new thread for each job, just make a single thread and put all your ideas in it. It's a little disruptive to the board as a whole to make multiple topics that are basically the same thing.

Also, I don't know if this sort of topic is great for much discussion. I mean wild speculation can be fun I guess, but you shouldn't be surprised when it doesn't lead to a bunch of meaningful feedback and well thought out responses.

First off, White Mage most likely won't get the overhaul treatment like Paladin will (since Paladin actually has a reason to be completely reworked). Second, even if White Mage was to get this kind of rework treatment, not only are there far too many damage skills here, but many of these skills are far too overtuned for most jobs, especially White Mage. Third and finally, allow me to pick apart at these individually:

1) Cure spells work well enough as they are currently implemented, and as such do not need such a drastic change. The only change we'll see is that Cure 3 might be tweaked so it is not such a circumstantial spell only used in specific situations.

2) The only reason why Stone applied a Heavy effect was to allow it some level of utility even after the gain of Stone 2. Now that Stone 3 is present as a direct upgrade to Stone 2 without Stone 2 having a similar utility advantage that Stone has, the objective then is to either provide something for Stone 2 that would still make it useful or tweak Stone 3 in such a way as to not make Stone 2 completely inferior. Merging of these spells is possible, but even then, it wouldn't have perma-Heavy just because it would force diminishing returns on targets that can be affected by Heavy, making them immune to it much quicker.

3) Shroud of Saints works well enough as it is, and likely won't be removed. I think what's being missed here is that White Mages are healers, not DPS with some healing spells. That being said, a Water spell may be an interesting idea, but White Mage already has plenty of damage tools while it has already been stated that new skills in Stormblood will be more role-based (a.k.a. more healing kit rather than more damage tools).

4) White Mages don't have Divine Veil; Paladins do, which means the OP clearly didn't do their homework. Now if they meant Divine Seal, that would be far less likely to be removed due to both the effectiveness of the cooldown as well as greater adherence to the overall healing theme of White Mage being the best in terms of raw, direct healing power. Furthermore, the alternative presented (Protect 2) is a bit overtuned, as both a damage reduction higher than basic 90-second defensive cooldowns (i.e. rampart, shadowskin) and a healing received component stronger than Convalescence (120-second cooldown) on just a 60 second cooldown is just far too strong. The most realistic incarnation of this would be simply a cooldown applying a healing received buff on a target since that would not only fit with the aforementioned healing theme of White Mage, but also be more balanced without the damage reduction component.

5) Blink and Reflect, as they are stated in the original post, simply would not be implemented as it has stated before that 100% avoidance of ANY skill--magic or physical damage--for a cooldown is just far too powerful, hence why skills such as Manawall and Shade Shift were changed from "avoid the next physical attack" to "nullify physical damage up to 20% of maximum HP".

6) Realistically, White Mage has all the damage-based AOE it needs in the form of Holy, Aero 3, and Assize as a cooldown, and has no necessity for more offensive AoE skills, let alone three. Quake just seems to be a less practical version of Assize, Tornado is just a slightly more circumstantial/more obnoxious version of Aero 3, and Flood wouldn't work because a) the absorb would make it more likely to be picked up by Scholar instead of White Mage, and b) as the change that Lustrate underwent (25% health to 600 potency), devs don't want healers directly healing while in cleric stance, which this Flood spell would do.

7) Of all the spells presented in the original post, Esuna 2 is the only one that seems closest to plausibility with the exception of the "always remove debuffs that other Esuna spells cannot" line. That being said, the title of "most plausible" here is kinda like the title along the lines of "world's fastest tortoise".

8) We have Raise 2, and it's called "the Healer Limit Break". Not only would this not work from a development standpoint (since it's far too overpowered even for a cooldown that long), but also from a technical standpoint since that would require the server to recall what buffs were present upon that character's death, which is much harder than it sounds given that it would have to require the server knowing what buffs we had upon logging out (which is currently doesn't).

Overall, the list compiled in the original post leads to the conclusion that the OP either has little or no experience whatsoever with White Mage, or has simply stated their own desires rather than what could actually happen based off of statements from more authoritative sources previously made in regard to job changes in Stormblood.

Your ideas consistently miss the point of the jobs you're attempting to apply them to, and your ideas for WHM are no different. The fact that you feel Cure, Cura and Curaga should be dumbed down into a single spell to mash is somewhat consistent with your bizarre macro schtick, so I'll give you points for that. However, it misses that unlike, say, Thunder, Thundara, and Thundaga, the Cure spell line features three functionally different spells tuned for different situations. Knowing when it's best to use Cura over Cure or vice versa is a small part of the skill involved in playing White Mage, and it shouldn't be removed just to make it easier to mash one button mindlessly, as you appear to want.

I would have called this your first good idea had you not suggested Esunaga should also be able to cleanse uncleansable debuffs. Congratulations, now they'll have to make SUPER uncleansable debuffs so boss mechanics can't be completely broken every 60 seconds.

But don't worry, I'm sure you'll be along to suggest an Esunaja that can also remove super uncleansable debuffs!

I'm not against Arise, but what you're suggesting is just another Benediction, only it also costs a bunch of MP for no reason. A better idea if they absolutely had to do something like this would be to give Benediction the effect of raise if the target is dead at the time of the ability's completion. Benediction had this effect in FFXI, though there it was their two-hour ability.

They want each of the healers to have their on flavours. AST has the advantage with buffs. SCH is mitigation king. That really leaves DPS as the edge WHM can have in the current meta. If WHM can noticeably dps higher than the other two healers raiders may actually consider that when considering raid composition. WHM stoneskin and protect isn't any better than the AST and SCH versions and I don't think they will change back that.

By taking away Skills like Divine Seal you actually make WHM even worser in the end.
It's their strongest Toolkit next to Presence of Mind / Tetragrammaton / Benediction / Asylum and Assize...

White Mage has tons of oGCD Skills that come in handy when the Situation requires it, removing that makes People not even touch WHM anymore.
It's true that some Healer Jobs outstand other Healers, yet they all have their Good and Bad sides during a long encounter.

Ultimatively it is up to the Player who plays one of the Jobs, be it White Mage, Scholar or Astrologian.

If you're going to use longer abbreviations than the standard 3 letter ones then at least have them make sense. Astro for Astrologian, not Astra, for example.

Couldn't they repurpose Fluid Aura into Water? The Poroggo's in Great Gubal Library Hard use water and it has the same animation as Fluid Aura it just doesn't do knock back and stops movement.

Traited Cleric: Every time you switch into Cleric your next damage spell costs half mana and deals 30% more damage. Every time you switch out of Cleric your next healing spell costs half mana and heals 30% more.

I fixed WHM.

no you didn't

TC, no offence, but almost everything you suggest is a terrible idea and would probably destroy the class for those of us who main it. Do you even play White Mage? Those I, II,III spell levels you think would be removed are all there for a reason, because they have totally different effects and applications.

Cure III does not and should not be used to replace cure I or II; a good WHM yses all three as the situation requires. Stone's levels are less useful, but still have practical applications as separate spells, especially for PvP. I use all three versions of aero literally every battle, because 3x the dots means I'm still DPSing even when I have to take a break to heal.

If they changed fluid aura's CD, I'd be livid, and I expect most others would agree.

Cure, Cure 2 and Cure 3 are not in the list of not often used skills.

Only skills in the "not often used" list will get big changes in 4.0

Reading this thread again after the giggles died down...

I actually quite like the OPs idea for Water spells and I think the added effects of -enmity and +refresh potency would be a welcome crutch to the less skilled WHMs out there or the ones turned off by being so responsible for the life and death of a party, making the WHM's MP more self-sustainable than currently thereby freeing up 'support dps' brd/mch to focus on their dps or in turn to modify their support skills to something else.

Also the idea for Flood is quite intelligent. DPS with a quasi-stoneskin on top, Its basically letting a WHM cast stoneskin 2 during battle, again another welcome crutch for less skilled WHMs who can AoE-support the party while still focusing on the tanks.
