Yeah same here. Pretty frustrating..
Similar error here :/

Got one of those as well. And when I do get into the game I crash fairly frequently, always with people around. Had no issues in Lavender Beds before I started teleporting to trafficked areas, and I had no issues in The Parrock where it's all instanced. I spent a good 40 minutes in The Parrock messing with group pose, and once I left the crashes came back strong. Sometimes when I hit log-in at character select, sometimes before I see the world during the loading screen, and sometimes after a couple of minutes in-game running around.
I had these same issues when 3.4 released and reinstalling seemed to fix it for me so I'm trying that again, even though reinstalling after every major patch is silly.
Is this just after you have updated to 3.5, and it was working fine before?
sorry, seems i forgot to add a deleted post message, half asleep and meant to post in the javascript error thread ^^;
Yeah was working fine before last night. now with new patch game wont even open and its giving me this error.
For me yeah, it's just after the update. I have a separate issue with my video card and the DX11 client where I have to underclock it to stop from crashing every time I go near water (that one was fun to figure out), but this is happening in areas totally different from that problem. I can't really tell if it's population related, or if it's like "new content, time to crash!"

Similar issue on my side as well:

Could play perfectly before this patch, now I can't even start it -_-
Stuck with this issue as of new patch as well, was running game fine in DX11 before... I can't launch the game at all, unless I switch to DX9 which well..sucks.

Yeah, steam version here. I literally disabled every single piece of software that provides any form of in-game overlay. Steam overlay doesn't even work for me there anyway xD (it was still disabled though). Nothing helps and that error keeps popping up every single time.
Just to make this funnier, before this patch, I had Dxtory overlay and Razer Comms overlay always on and the game never crashed xD
Same here. Running on DX11, Windows 10, AMD RX480. Was working perfectly before. Tried with and without Steam =/ DX9 seems to work.

Fixed since update!
Had a couple of those (similar to Aneira's and LunarFate's). Actually ffxiv_dx11.exe is the name of the game program - it has nothing to do with DX11 itself. There seems to be some sloppy programming/debugging on SE's side..
Hope for a hotfix..
Getting the same/similar issue - so I'm stuck in the ending cutscene of Dun Scaith (crashes after a few moments in the scene, or if I try to skip it)

sorry for the screen of a screen!
Oh! I just switched from dx11 to dx9, then back to dx11 and it works! >.<
I'm getting the same error. Every 20 f***ing minutes. Game is almost unplayable because of this.
I getting the same error ffxiv_dx11.exe. Its getting frustrating. This error was not happening prior to Patch 3.5. SE please fix this.
Gameoverlayrend is a Steam thing, I believe. Try running the game from outside of Steam and see if that makes a difference, I guess.
Otherwise, run DX9 mode until there's a real solution. My usual response to DX11 problems is to run the game in Fullscreen instead of Borderless Window, since DX11 seems to crash a lot in borderless. But if you can't even get into the game, it's something else.

So far I've only gotten it while entering Mist where our FC house is located, it has happened when I've exited our house and when I've teleported into the zone using the free company estate teleport.
No issues so far using the private estate teleport to lavender beds or apartment teleport to Goblet.
Just adding my info in case it helps somehow. I only have the problem when loading into Seal Rock. The other frontlines work fine.
The thing is im on a clean install. I thought something was corrupt/conflicted so just reinstalled. Im not using any graphic changes from default outside of turning volume down. Unless its an issue with UI then i dont know what is wrong.
So when i load into Seal Rock i can see chat moving and people talking. But its just a black loading screen for me. Then i get the error on the right. I turn off DX11 and try to log on again in DX9 and get the error on the left. I dont know what the hell is causing this but its frustrating cause it locks my character out till either the match ends or something resets.

I'm ading to the issue, same kind of error

Randomly happen after the end of dungeon/raid/trials etc
I went through some great lengths to fix this problem specifically only for ff14, change vsync to off change trilinear to bilinear, on the login screen before you type in your account name and password in that lobby go to settings and change *use directx* option to none or off, this all helped me
I'd also have to be looking at the options to remember the other changes I'll post it when I'm looking at it later
DirectX9 mode "works" for me, as in I can play for a moment and then the game hangs the PC without even an error. Doesn't happen in any other game, benchmarking software etc. And the subscription days are ticking down... great -_-
Nothing helps the DX11 mode even start though. Just that error from the get go. It's like a diarrhea that just won't go away xD
If everything else is working just fine on your rig, this has to be a driver error and i think it's a conflict between the drivers (Dx11) that come with the game and the drivers that come as a standard on windows (Win10/Dx12 for example)
The game works on Dx9 so i can't really think of anything else. Unfortunately uninstalling DirectX isn't that simple.
Dx end-user runtime web installer repairs corrupt files if there are any.

If everything else fails, there's reinstalling from scratch (windows/full format) Avoid unnecessery junk like Nvidia experience and the like.
A needle in a haystack is what this is. If your game hangs on both Dx modes, there's something else going on.
If your game hangs with a jarring sound looping in the background, i'd double check the ram.
same issues here, always when teleporting to Lavender beds ( personal and FC house) sometimes even when returning from an instance to outside >< Never had it before the patch
+1
got this crash like 4 times now, appears after i teleport back to lavenders bed (house).

Well, it may be a needle in a haystack, but it's definitely not just one :P A lot of people get this kind of error in many different ways. Oh and it doesn't hang in both DX modes. It just throws that error after pressing the Play button on the launcher for the DX11. Only DX9 is capable of actually getting in for a minute or two. At best. I'm an IT and I know where you're coming from, but the reason here is perfectly simple and obvious. Bad patch.
I can say that because everything else works perfectly just as it did. The only thing that doesn't want to work is FFXIV AFTER this patch. Before it worked perfectly and I haven't changed nothing in that time and by that I mean nothing new installed, nothing new downloaded, nothing adjusted. On top of that I thoroughly tested the stability of the PC and checked if there are any errors on the HDD, registry and so on and so forth. Everything being top notch.
I'm just hoping that this issue is being addressed and the next maintenance window will fix this, even though it wasn't listed in the change list for it. Otherwise I'm gonna feel a bit scammed tbh. I mean maintenance window took 1 day, then I can't play for the next 2 days and if the next patch/maintenance wouldn't fix the issue, I'd most likely be looking at more days lost. It may be nothing to most, but I don't have money to spent. Every day counts for me.
Ez fixes are Uninstal reinstal, download driver sweeper clear all old drivers for Nvidia and reinstall them, change to direct x9, reinstall windows or face reset windows, use the changes I listed above with vsync and bilinear and changing the direct x from the options menu, run in lowest setting in windowed mode, other options I heared that work is running something like diablo in the background then running ff14, it tricks the graphics card
had the same issue last night
Had this happen to me twice so far today. Both times when i exited a completed duty. Its not a driver issue, since nothing was flagged up on the reliability monitors.
updating on the dx11 error list
This is from when i was farming a1s:

and this is form df expert

Quick edit: Noticed, after just skimming over the other post, the DX11 seems to be area located, for exemple, Norit was in lavender bed and i was in lavender bed when i was farming A1S, so it's the same error code.
Could be some effect that are messed with the dx11 version of the client with the 3.5 update.
I just had this happen to me twice as well. Teleporting my FC house in the Lavender Beds. Unfortunately, now it appears I can't log in so I must be stuck teleporting?
