What's so funny about this guy anyway? He never made me laugh/grin, or even smile at his jokes.
Get it over with, move on, and give us some new side story.
ps. His father is kinda funny though.

I don't really care if he is brought back or not but I wish the 3.0 version had fights like the 2.0 one.
I personally would love more Hildi.. if people prefer something less hilariously stupid though, I do hope they keep adding alternative sidequests, something along the lines of scholasticate.
I sort of wouldn't mind a bit more action though, more trials or something? :/ 3.x Hildi did feel quite bland, I'll give you that... seemed shorter too...
While i do find his quests hilarious i must agree with Evangela. I'd rather have Hildi end on a high note than become boring and stale.
I thought he was okay in ARR, wasn't laugh out loud funny but it was a nice light hearted adventure that brought fanservice instanced trials but in HW his shtick got old to me, when I watched the cutscenes it just seemed like the devs didn't even really want to bring him back but they had to due to fan demand and it goes to show how bland the quests are compared to ARR's.
Should just make side missions based on his mother and father they're clearly the best characters.
Mrs Manderville needs more screen time.
I'm ready for something new.
Oh I would like to fight Hildi's mother, Julyan at some point. I mean... that says everything.

I'm pretty sure plenty of people still enjoy the questline. Not every aspect of the game has to appeal to everyone universally.
I'd love more Hildibrand, but only if they can make it as good as 2.x (or better, of course)
3.x quests were... empty. It's not about being funny or not, they clearly didn't put much resources/dev time in the 3.x quests.
Actually, just put more resources in all quests.
Make less quests ; more resources for each quest.
Please make Hildebrande the entire MSQ in 4.0
In your opinion... But, not everyone likes the same things, the majority of people I know think the Hilde quests are fun, silly and amusing to some degree or another. It's rather nice to have some slapstick humor in the game to prevent it from taking itself too seriously.
But, since everyone has their own opinion; there will always be people who find no fun in something that others think is fun...and this is why they will not listen to you.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hildibrand in 2.0, but I'll echo others, it feels like 3.0 phoned it in with effort. In 2.0 a segment could last a fair while, and I was always grinning and laughing and it was generally fantastic. I liked how everything wove together nicely. 3.0 feels more like modern television. Its episodic, but there doesn't feel like a strong connection from one patch's quest addition to the next's. I love that Briardien got his own questline as well, but I think he really helped make Hildibrand great as well. Without him there, its just Hildy being stupid and no one really competent around to move the plot.
I'm hoping the Mithril Eye reporter will make a come back with Briardien in 4.0, cause otherwise, I don't think Hildibrand will live up to its original standards. Cyr isn't a bad character, but he feels very flat and two-dimensional at times.
Well the lack of resources is due to Hildibrand Series being pushed into 3.X era. Originally Season 2 was planned for 4.X era but due to how horribly Scholasticate Story failed to provide a little hearted story people wanted after the bitter sweet storyline of 3.0 SE had to try to fix that by pushing Hildibrand into 3.X since he was the easiest character to use for a little heart story. Scholasticate Storyline was originally meant to cover the entire 3.X story instead of Hildibrand as the "Hildibrand" of 3.X but of course they didn't provide a little hearted story from it and only added more bitter Ishgarding politics and more sad face moments instead.
Hopefully the original Hildibrand Season 2 is porperly maintained for 4.X considering they now have to adjust some aspect of that storyline to fit 3.X Hildibrand storyline into it.
Please dont kill Hildi and his family... My opinion is, we should have more of him. More time invested/ quality on his questline/story as for me is one of the little hidden "pearls" of this game.
How about just not doing things you don't enjoy rather than advocating things that other people like being removed from the game because YOU don't like it? Just a thought.
I like Hildy, and his content from the last patch was a step-up from how it started. That said so long as we get atleast one new good long running side-quest storyline in 4.0 I could do without him.
THAT SAID...I do agree that removing trials from 3.x Hildy was part of the problem as those were some of the better parts of 2.x Hildy. Also no Gilgamesh. Course I would be fine with just having more Gilgamesh in general even without Hildy but he works good there.
Sadly is type of behavior will never stop because for some reason part of certain mentality is that of a "I don't like it then it should not exist" type.
We see this every where and no matter the obvious "avoid stuff you don't like and let the people who enjoy it enjoy it" will work better for the community as a whole there will always be constant posts about "remove this because I don't want it in the game even if other people may like it".
That's not entirely correct there.
The mentality is:"I don't like it, so please use the resources on something I like instead."
If development resources were infinite, these threads likely wouldn't pop up.
That said...I personally don't care either way. As long as they don't try to make me do it with rewards, I'm fine just ignoring it.
Oh man, I didn't realize hildy in 3.0 was part of the MSQ!?!?!?
Oh wait he's not......then just don't do it and stop complaining about it.
I agree. At the very least can we not get him showing up for almost every patch? I appreciate that some people like him but his humour is very niche, over the top and development of his side quests detracts from the possibility of adding other side quests that are both more in-depth and interesting.
I miss the days when we had the game world and NPC's fleshed out through the Moogle Delivery quests. They were fun - and I was hoping for a Heavensward edition of them.
Meanwhile on reddit... Hildibrand Bebop

Hildibrand has had me squeeling more than once. If most people didn't appreciate it then I could see why it wouldn't be added in 4.0, but why would you advocate the removal of something that is clearly loved by many just because you don't get a chuckle?
meh I skip all the cutscenes. I don't play video games for stories. They tend to target the young adult audience and are generally cliche.
There is no FFXIV without Hildi. Sorry but you know you can skip the quests if you don't like them.
You may want to reconsider playing this game altogether, then, if you can't stomach the game itself without Hildibrand being a part of it. Furthermore just because someone can skip the quests it doesn't mean they can't speak up about development time being spent on it - especially if it detracts from the development of other, more serious side quests.
No thanks. More please.
I am a loyal friend and assistant to Hildibrand and I will follow him to the end of the earth. If anything, I hope he has even more presence in 4.0 now that the development team realizes that he's so popular that they even added a story for him in Heavensward despite not having anything planned before. His type of humor may not be for everyone, but for those he overjoys, he is often the highest point of the game.
To be honest up until about 3.4 it was very obvious that Hildebrand was rushed/tacked on as they originally had no plans for him in 3.0 and admitted so.
More of 3.x Hildebrand? No thank you.
More of 2.x Hildebrand? I can get on board with that.
Hildibrand is written by Japanese writers and translated into multiple languages. If you don't understand how the Japanese write scripts or direct their shows then a lot of the story will be lost on you. I do wish sometimes the writers would use some influence with writing from the West, but I understand why they do things the way they do.
The first part of Hildebrand in Heavensward was really slow for me but it has finally picked up. I don't know why the writing was slow for the middle of Heavensward :(, the start and the end are really good(I mean the start and the end for all stories for me :p).
It was good comic relief, and thats all I expect. I dont expect it to be lol funny. But its a nice storyline, and I prefer it over the schoalistic storyline.
I would really like them to do a storyline featuring Hildi's mother.
