Just play the latest Madden.
I would like Blitzball to be implemented as well, but I don't really want it as a gold saucer game. I would much prefer it to be included in the pvp roulette, and have roulette rewards/bonuses.
I say no to blitzball. It will just become like Chocobo Racing and Triple Triad. People will do it the first week and realize they wore nostalgia googles and notice how bad it is and not play the content and then overall be a waste of resources. Always happens with gold saucer attractions.
Blitzball working with MMO controls? lol
Blitzball would just wind up being unused content, and the developer resources mis-spent on it should be used to greater effect elsewhere. No thanks, we don't need the 4th iteration of "played for the first week, ignored forever after" content.
I wouldn't consider it wasted. I think we need more varied content like this, rather than the grind grind grind of tomestones all the time. A gold saucer revamp is needed though, but the only way it'd get used is if it offered the best possible gear. I don't envy SE's position trying to make the gold saucer work.
I disagree. However what they could do (which they could also add to Chocobo Racing/Lords of Verminion) is if after x amount of time in the queue, it starts populating with NPCs. So after a while you're at least GUARANTEED a pop. Even if it's with AI.
Or PvP in general and the last 100 floors of PotD.
Actually, can we make an experiment? Swap the rewards for PvP, PotD and Raids to those of Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad and Lord of Verminion and vice versa for a while. Just to see what happens with content popularity.
It means he likes marvel super heroes.
Letting you do both would mean anyone who does it would just do the single player version. The multiplayer version would be DOA. Whereas I believe by allowing NPCs to populate the queues after a while (aren't they already thinking of placing NPCs into dungeons as our teammates?) it would encourage more people to queue as they know they would at least get a pop after a while. Whereas a single player version and a multiplayer version? Who would queue for the multiplayer version if there's a single player version there. I'm also looking at how to create more multiplayer interaction within the game as a whole (it is an MMO after all, lest we forget).
it would be nice to have more stuff as a time waster in the game.
when nothing else to do, play some blitzball
More worried what the controls would be like because it was horrid in X
Hope it'll be more like a real sport game, and not so strategic.
I hated Blitzball, but I can see why people like it. I'd like a spectator mode if they do add it.
You could say that about any piece of content though, there are different types of players, I personally play golden saucer stuff just about every day. But when a new raid comes out Besides spending the time doing the dungeons to gear up for it, I complete it one time then don't do it again. I don't even touch the savage stuff.
I'd like to see it implemented someday...but only if it's genuinely in-depth, smooth and satisfying. The rewards should be meaningful too.
Triple Triad is a fun time killer, the problem is that the tournaments are terribly terribly broken and there's no way to place in the top 3 without win-trading. There's all kinds of ways SE could fix that but they haven't bothered to do so.
I think Blitzball could be fun IF we can recruit pre-existing NPCs for our teams like in FF X and if the majority of the content for it isn't PvP.
Personally I found Blitzball dull in X and would rather not see it in XIV.
Triple Triad could be fixed by just disallowing people from entering tournaments that they've already won. For the sake of fairness they could add a separate tournament for 'winners only' with a high MGP reward as compensation. Not a perfect solution but it's clear win trading isn't going to be addressed and it's very tiresome to see the same few players exploiting win trading to win the majority of tournaments. Especially on a server like Balmung that already boasts a bloated population.
Why would you prefer not to see it implemented just because you didn't enjoy it? It would very likely be completely optional and it's a fan favourite where mini-games in the franchise are concerned.

The last thing I want to see is the devs focusing on silly mini game content people will be fed up with in a week. Blitzball is LoV all over again.
I would love it. At this point you cant really say making it is waste of resources because look and the Vermillion crap that came and died fast.
The only other well-loved mini games that haven't been implemented in XIV in some form or another are the snow boarding from VII, the motorcycle mini game from VII, and chocobo hot and cold from IX.
I'd say PvE monster arenas like in VI, VII, and X too but those are more side quests and the Palace of the dead kind of does that already.
What? That's the definition of wasted resources. LoV was billed as a major content piece for 3.1, and taking one look at it indicates the devs put a frightening about of effort developing something that ultimately went on to die the day it launched. There's a reason 3.1 is widely considered the worst patch post 1.0.
I can see Blitzball being pretty popular if done right. Let there be teams of players instead of vs NPCs or AI companions. Heck depending on how it goes or if its able to be more active (i.e no pausing or minimum) could even make it possible for those not interested in playing but wanting to watch spectate and cheer on favorite teams?
Because I'm being selfish and hoping the next Gold Saucer addition is a minigame I do enjoy such as the Snowboarding or Battle Square games from VII.
Granted with Swimming coming in Stormblood and FFX costumes and minions coming from the fanfests there's a good chance we are getting Blitzball. Hopefully it won't fail like Verminion.
..2...3... Teach us how to Blitz!!
I was thinking about how they could potentially make Blitzball and think that the idea is to make it so passing and shooting can be done whenever to make it less stop-start like the original. They could make it so that your character throws/shoots in the direction your character is facing and can look around with snap-back to centre. They could make blocking able to be done like a real sport by getting in the way. The only time when the game needs to pause during the game is when someone collides with someone to do the tackling component of the game.
These are some ideas I've had thinking about it and there's obviously some anti-cheese mechanics like preventing anyone from coming in x yalms from the goal to prevent people from making it impossible to score by body-blocking the whole goal.
I would play the hell out of Blitzball if they implemented it. Can't count how many seasons I went through in X
I would normally never say no to more content but than I remember things like the LoV...I looked really forward to this one, hoping it would be kinda like Pokemon and yet somehow the devs wanted to invent the wheel again and turned it into that..its way to complicated for a simple mini game and not really fun (imo). So I kinda fear if they would even implement the Blitzball everyone love or if they would create a new version of it (never played it ^^;). And to make it even better they would put a huge grind behind it, because we cant have just some simple mini games that we just play for fun, no we have to make it RNG and a grind so that people would need to put hours over hours of time into it..
If its a fun, simple game in the gold saucer: Yes please. If its a grindy, RNG and complex game: No please dont.
Actually pretty much every piece of content is alive and kicking except for the Gold Saucer and Diadem. All dungeons queue well. Guildhests. Coils are relevant with WT. 2.X Trials are relevant because of WT. Even the Crystal Tower raids queue fast. Gathering/Crafting is relevant. 3.X trials are relevant due to lanners. Hildebrand is still relevant. Scholasticate is still relevant.
Essentially, Gold Saucer is the only thing that has pretty much no incentive besides just doing the mini cactpot and punching game for challenge log.
2 people in the Saucer doing activities = dead.
20 people in the Saucer doing activities = alive
Chocobo Racing is dead. All the games in there are dead. LoV is so dead not even the greatest necromancers of the forums here can raise it. Same with Diadem. But even that has waaay more useful things than 50 MGP every 10mins(hyperbole)
Maybe I'll finally be able to master the jecht shot. I wonder where they would put the blitzball arena? Idk about the gold saucer as it doesn't really fit the theme of blitzball. Either way, I'd love to see this added.
