Lala Children Pls

This isn't a child. This is a full grown lalafel.

Or...perhaps lalafells reach full height by age 10 or so? Only thing I can think on it.

Clearly, they come out that size.

There's another popato "child" in Gridania near the Conjurer's guild. The parents are an Elezen father and Hyre mother.... I laughed a bit when I saw them.

Lalafel reproduce through mitosis obviously.

To be fair, if a child lalafel were 1/3 to 1/2 the height of an adult Lala, the children of Lalafell would be quite miniscule, smaller than most minions, and I don't think that's such a great thing. I suspect that it is as Alpha Fox suggests, Lalafel reach their full height very early in life.

I thought they lay an egg then it grows until a full grown lalafel pops out. Either that or they come out of cabbages.

Maybe to distinguish full grown female Lalafell to girl is make grown female Lalafells with actual boobs. At least they will look less like kids that way. Males just add facial hair.

Lalafell child npcs are rare, but they have been in the game since 1.0. They have always looked like slightly more baby-faced lalafells.

So, going off the likely line of thinking that Lalafells grow to full-size comparatively early next to other races...

Imagine the suffering being a popoto-bachelour (or even just another race with a thing for Lalas). Is that guy or girl you want to hit on of-age? Are they 20, or 10? No way of knowing!
There should be a full cultural analysis of this phenomenon. Like, is there some way that their culture has adapted to distinguish? Particular styles of dress between age groups? Make-up? Minutely noticeable details in facial structure, posture or body language?

You could write a whole new Lorebook on this stuff.

So? FFXI had Tarutaru children and they were tiny! You could even get food that would 'costume' you into looking like a Tarutaru child (as well as Galka, Hume and Elvaan. To be a Mithra kitten, you needed a wand).

No way of knowing? Now wait, being close to full height only affects that, what about ear shape/size? Or the eyes? There could be many subtle physical indicators of age that members of other races are essentially unaware of.

you don't pluck lalas from the ground till they reach maturity.

Lala's don't actually have children as such. We have a potato phase, it's a kind of a chrysalis or egg. Eventually the potato cracks open and a new Lalafell emerges.

Pretty sure that is actually a fully grown lala living off the charity of others. You know, abusing the system.

That or someone should probably call Chris Hanson.

Though, knowing lalafails, it is probably both of the above.
