Depends, they might release new glam to craft or new gather gear.
I really dont see that is a big deal if it is the case. I'm a crafter and I almost never sell gear for money. There are tons of other things in the game, usually overlooked, to make for every crafting job even without the gear.
Housing items always sell super well.
Consumables also always sell incredibly well. ( potions, food )
Also don't forget the people leveling, they do need gear as well. ( 1-60 ) don't just think about level 60 i250 gear... Other people want crafted gear as well. I've made a killing selling gear that no one else seems to want to make.
Leveitems as well... are also a nice selling point
I could keep going?
And like Martin said above me, there will more than likely be new glam gear.
To say crafting is dead because there likely wont be a new battle set before the expansion is just silly.
Like I said, I am afraid that there will not be much of anything but glams to craft for 6-7 months. Glams and stuff that you list may sell well, but the profit they make is pocket change. You can't make hundreds million gil with them.
Odd patches barely make you "hundreds [of] million gil" since they're designed for helping newer people catch up to current ilvl. Besides, Diadem gear has RNG stat allocation, meaning you can get an accessory with 20 accuracy, 12 SkS, and 15 Det. I'd rather trust a person with full Proto-Alexandrian than full i260 Diadem gear (if i260 is what the new gear will be) with very bad secondaries.
Also people may still want the crafted i250 FOR glamour. I love the looks of the Tank and Caster/Healer sets.
Considering Diadem gear used to be random and I had overall 1 piece that had actually "nice" stats for a class I never played.... ummm... nope crafted gear will still be more on the point. You have the *chance* to get something but good gear and gear that just has ilvl are different resorts imo.
Crafting is always as useful as one wants it to be.
We can't reasonably expect any new DoW/M crafteds, we'll have the final VA raid released so that should be a new source of 260 gear. And there's no real reason for them to give us new DoH/L gear unless they want to force us into crafting it so we can coast a little farther in 4.0 till we upgrade then. So yeah, pretty much just cosmetic things until 4.0 launch. Although they COULD add crafting requirements to one of the final anima steps, that's probably the last real chance for big fast gil and specialist usefulness, assuming they stick with the normal pattern and downgrade all current Specialist recipes to omni-crafter in 3.5
Realistically, there is absolutely no reason for them to add new crafted battle gear in 3.5+. Also, there is no reason for new DoH gear if glamours are all we have until 4.0. I am just hoping what they add will require the use of Control stats and rotation. Those are what separate the career crafters and the casual crafters. If not the future will be bleak.
I remember back in 2.5, a lot of crafted stuff were BIS for most jobs. Life was good back then for crafters despite the long wait for Heavensward.
We will not be getting more DoL/DoH gear, unless it is some form of upgrade to the Carbonweave set that only allows minimal melds.
Still though, crafting will still have just as much use as one wishes to make of it. The use could be housing stuff, potions, food, leveling gear, etc.
While it's probably not something that'll allow crafters/gatherers to make tons of gil, 3.5 seems to add a DoH/L version of Khloe Aliapoh, named Zhloe Aliapoh. From the most recent live letter:

I wonder what rewards the Crafter/Gatherer version of WT will be if new DoH/DoL gear (or better gear, to be specific) is unlikely. Unless I'm reading the picture wrong, rewards for turning in items include Gil, Blue and Red scrips, and a new Heart-shaped currency of sorts? Hard to tell from the image but I hope this content has good rewards besides just being a new outlet of obtaining scrips. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what that heart currency rewards us with.
The icon to the left of the gil one is likely related to the satisfaction level of one of those NPCs, kinda like reputation.
I think all Patch 3.5 will do is open up all those specialist recipes to everyone else. That's about it for crafting. And some odd furniture items or something. Patch 2.5 wasn't different either. There wasn't much to do. I think all they did then was lower the cost of synthing those materials (that ixal sealant became more abundant, allowing nearly any player that wanted crafter/gatherer equipment to obtain it).
I am sure in 2.5 they added the ilvl 110 crafted items some of which were better than the ilvl130 ones for a lot of jobs. However, ilvl 250 are already in the game. That's why I am worry.
The weapon will still sell well since you can dye them, which not many weapons can.
I just wish they added an actual use for all the desynth fodder materials I've amassed, from all the glamour gear given away in PotD. Demimateria is usually always in demand. However, many vanity materials have no current value, since the recipes that the materials are used in are for glamour gear that are given away. No point in making gear that is already going for "desynth fodder" prices.
Such a short-sighted assumption. Have you forgotten that fresh level 60s with 140ish~ gear can't just queue up for things that drop high level gear? Crafted/tradable gear will always have a use as long as such restrictions apply.Quote:

Last part of the anime relyc quest will pop out, the return of crafted item ? Maybe :D
My issue with that part of the Relic was twofold : Materials should not have been locked away in Diadem, and the recipes should not have been locked away behind Specialists.
The Specialist restriction was one reason the prices on those things were so high at the time - a lack of competition. The Diadem materials source was another reason they were so pricey - though it was more justified in this case, especially after Diadem died down for gathering and fishing.
As long as the materials are available in the main world (even if its from a 4 star gathering node) and the recipes are available to all crafters, I have no problem with having part of the next Relic steps involving crafting.
I only hope this means we'll see more Hunting Hawks.
It's been almost 5 months since the last one sold on Hyperion and I'm ready...
I don't think crafts/gathering should be mandatory in the relic quest period. It's okay to have it as an option - for example, instead of buying umbrite only with lore, you could make it gather-able on timed nodes as well, have the aether-oil also buyable via red scrips etc. And the 3rd step items in turn can be bought with 1000 uncapped tomes each in turn. Something like that - options never hurt.
But planned money redistribution from players who prefer combat to players who prefer crafting just rubs me the wrong way. If you're desperate to redistribute gil in the populace, make the next anima step require people to donate 10% of their total savings including retainers, which is then monthly redistributed among the participants based on their monetary needs. But I'm sure crafters would be the first to cry bloody murder over that.
The Trailer for 3.5x makes it look as though there are new DoH/DoL tools coming, there's even possibility new gear. I wouldn't be surprised if crafting was somehow involved, either as a token hand in or as an outright crafted item.
i belive since diadem comes back, there will be also new gathering items from the new diadem and which i guess will required for the new step of the relic weapon.
means gathering and crafting will get a new earning possibility, which dosent sounds to bad.
what i am not sure about is how necessary will be the new crafting/ gathering gear from the new 3.5 trailer video :3

glamour items will bring a crafter never much gils, because it dosent request any mastercrafter know how, because there is no HQ needed, anyone can press few Piece by Piece and IG2 few times CS2 -> done.
to make a lot of gils with glamour gear you just need farm the rare items which required for the crafts not the craft makes it expensive.
as i say i belive there will be new gathering items from diadem which needs to turn from mastercrafters in HQ items for part of the new relic step.
this way would gathering and crafter gets a new earning possibility.
since with adding the new 24men raid (new ilvl 260 gear) the ilvl 250 crafted gear will lose on necessary.

Everything will be useless in 3.5, just sit back, gather your primal pigeons and anticipate the stormblood celebration!
I wish crafted gear stats were equal to or better than tome gear. It requires even more work to get and more dedication. I can farm tomes on my dragoon easily. Making the weapons for i250 cost what like 700k? PLUS you must have high enough stats to even attempt it. I feel like tome gear is superior and easier to get.. That baffles me. Raiding gear is fine where it is, at the top. I hope to become more invested in crafting in the future and I hope the rewards feel fair no matter what the devs decide to do. Im personally hoping 3.5 and Storm Blood make crafting more usefull.
From what I've seen, certain pieces of crafted i250 gear rival their scripture counterparts due to their secondary stats. And with some melds thrown out there (at cost of course), they are certainly respectable. These might continue to sell, but prices will drop a bit due to the lack of specialization. When a patch like 3.4 drops, there's always that rush for new gear and you make gil hand over first if you stay just ahead of the curve. I think this patch, we'd have to settle for selling more volume as opposed to high profit on each piece.
