This is pretty neat thread, nice :D

Was leaning on the first and second option but chose the first because it's the most realistic choice, would it be a disservice to the blue mage? yes, collecting abilities and discovering them by yourself is part of the fun, do I have to play it? No I don't.

Not only did I vote for the first option, I had already proven it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Exist-in-FFXIV

While I believe the answer to this is the first option (abilities gained through leveling up and quests) I want to vote for them doing something similar to what XI did... XI didn't have a rigid system which allowed for jobs to be truly unique in the way they functioned.

Yes and they'll have to learn most of their abilities from monsters, like a traditional Blue Mage went up 2 spaces, while Yes with a special system that lets them "equip" a limited amount of abilities like in XI went down 2 spaces!

3. Yes and they'll have to learn most of their abilities from monsters, like a traditional Blue Mage at 49 votes (11%)
4. Yes but it will be implemented in a way never seen in a the FF series before at 37 votes (8%)

I feel like people don't understand that Necromancer in Final Fantasy V wasn't really so much a Dark Magic user proper as they were sort of just a Super Duper Black Mage. Deep Freeze is "Super Blizzard", Meltdown is "Super Fire", Chaos Drive is "Super Thunder", Drain Touch is "Super Drain", and Dark Flare is, well. It's literally Shadow Flare, which we already have on Summoner / Scholar.

Evoker literally won't happen because SMN AF1 is already called Evoker Attire.

Merchant would only happen if Money were a theme or aesthetic, YoshiP has made it abundantly clear that no job will ever be introduced that requires ammunition or catalyst items to perform their role.

Psychic has the most refreshing theme and potential to it, I'd say.

Here's how I see this....

Evoker to me seems too much like Scholar without anything that makes it prctical.
Necromancer is already established in game lore as an overpowered Black Mage.
Psychic appears pointless in a game where crowd control is almost never used under normal circumstances.
Corsair looks possible, except the question there would be how sick players are of RNG jobs.
Puppetmaster couldn't happen until in-game pet controls are more manageable.
Arithmetician would only work if Arcanist wasn't a thing.
Orator looks like an interesting idea for a healer, but suffers the same issues as Psychic.
Fencer could work if only it didn't look like a base class.
Morpher could work, but requires heavy limitation.
Chocobo Knight...think about the big, fat roe on a bigger, fatter bird blocking the view for positionals...
Green Mage could work, but requires more detail as a job concept.
Merchant could only work if it requires a wholly separate resource system similar to Warrior stacks.

As for my vote, I put mine on Morpher just because I'm a sucker for transformation-themed jobs.

I didn't know the FF series had shapeshifters. :O They are cool af, so morpher got my vote.
