Dissapointed with SE. They dind't even make an event for FFXV launch. I mean, we practically financed this game (don't say that we not) with our montlhy fees.
Even Lightning Returns had a cool launch event.

Not entirely with our fees, maybe the last stretch was boosted by us though. Since Noctis was first shown doing his thing though, FFXIV has had chance to:
Be officially announced
Be released
Be closed down
Get remade
Get re-released
Get a full expansion
Get another full expansion announced.
Did Yoshi not say that he wants the players to play XV for a while before launching the even or something? Or was it just a rumor?
Did we really need yet another thread covering this same topic? Yoshida has stated if a XV event is to happen in XIV, it will happen sometime after XV's release so that people have time to experience XV. Give it time.
I prefer them all focus on the coming expansion rather then another cross over event.
XIV did not finance the game. Multiple titles including XIV (towards the end of XV's development) financed the game over its 10 year cycle.
There is really only one title that can boast saving the Crystal Tools / Light / Luminous Engine era that had SE in rough financial waters.
- XI subs for over 10+ yrs.
The acquisition of Taito and the success of the NESiCAxLive platform, along with Lord of Vermilion III have contributed to boosted profits over the last few years. Infact, Taito's arcade operations have done extremely well considering the industry itself in Japan has declined. Yet Taito has had gains every fiscal year.
Add in XIV:ARR and those are the major gains for the Company in the last few years.
TLDR: It's not that simple.
More excited for stormblood.
As posted in another thread I didn't care much for XV.
Lightning Returns was a spin-off title for a main series game that was pretty polarizing; they were gonna throw all the in-house marketing at it that they could.
FFXV broke the day one sales record for any game in the series. And judging by how quiet XIV is right now, it clearly doesn't need anymore help to sell itself.
yeah, pretty disappointed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
c'mon SE
Nothing to be disappointed about. The extra marketing wasn't needed. I agree with Yoshi's statement. Let ppl play it, if its good enough, word gets around. Few months down the road or even for XV PC launch have a crossover event ingame or even do it twice like they did with Lightning Returns.
Also gives both teams more time to collaborate ideas then something rushed together just to please the Veruca Salts of the world.
If you don't understand the Veruca Salt reference: "I want it now!" - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
If they wait for people to play XV before any event in XIV, does this mean an event might actually spoil XV? I think I could play XV, but at least not before a few months. (Don't tell me a game/movie/series should be played or seen within the hours/days past its release!)
FFXIV is homoerotic enough as is.
jk
Not really.
I want a mount
I want a huge mount
One that can do doughnuts and seat four! let's go nuts!
(developers) We should see if makes sense, maybe in a month or two
NO! NOW!
I want more glamour
I want more hairstyles
Pink highlights too and new shades of blue and skin tones of all hues!
Give it to me now.
I want a house
I want a large house
I want to lock it all up in an instance
You're wrong! Believe my stance!
GIVE IT TO ME NOW!
If they do this, I want Noct, and Luna outfits.
Possibly, but I doubt it. The statement from Yoshi regarding the cross over event was pretty much "I want people to get to know XV's story and it's characters." My guess is he wants people to have an attachment to the content, so it feels better connected. But as I said, tis not but a guess.
No1 would be around to play it lolz exactly why we probably wont see it til around 3.5
I'm a bit more surprised that you think you were entitled to have a XV launch event in XIV
