[Suggestion] Change 50 and 60 roulette requirement to "Unlocking" not "Completion"

Having recently levelled an alt to play with friends I've noticed that it's extremely long and tedious unlocking the level 50 and level 60 roulettes. The major problem is that it requires completion of a significant backlog of dungeon content. I've also found that this appears intimidating for a lot of new players who take several months before slowly unlocking the roulettes.

One simple solution to this problem in my view is to simply shift the roulette entry requirement from "Completion of the following" to "Unlocking the following". This would mean that new players and alts can do the quests to unlock all the dungeons and then simply go through them naturally through roulettes over time.

I also feel it would increase the population of players doing these dungeons as players are just generally more likely to queue into a roulette rather than the dungeon on its own. It would also make going through the dungeons less overwhelming since it would naturally be taken in small chunks.

There are 17 Lv50 dungeons and there will be 11 Lv60 dungeons after 3.5. Even if you did only two dungeons a day, it would take two weeks.

That aside, commuting the requirement to "unlocked" means fewer people will actually be queuing for the specific dungeons. As such, it's conceivable that the people who are running purely on "unlocked" credentials might never end up in and complete the dungeons they have neglected.

The net effect on overall dungeon running populations would be negligible, as the people who begin running roulettes would be the same people who were running specific dungeons for unlocks anyway, and those who are not currently running dungeons for unlocks because it's not worth diverting time away from the main story would not run a significant number of roulettes because it would divert time away from the main story. The only real difference would be that the current roulette runners who want to run roulettes to help new people complete content will be funneled away from people selecting specific dungeons for completion and into more parties where nobody needs the content, and this is clearly undesirable.

Those who want to unlock their roulettes should just queue for five dungeons that they haven't completed. There's no pressing need to open roulettes to people who haven't completed the content.

Except that they can still just queue for those specific ones themselves if they so wish - all the roulette goers are "fillers" after all. That means for everyone who wants a specific piece of content, there will be more indifferent fillers available, because those who would fill indifferently no longer need to complete specific dungeons just to be able to fill. As such, you wouldn't funnel fillers away from people needing specific dungeons, there would simply be less people needing specific dungeons in the first place. How big that effect is...is debatable. I'd think newbies would like to see each individual dungeon once anyway.

Agreed, though, there is no pressing need - it's a QoL change and QoL is low priority.

There is a minimum item level required before being able to run most of the dungeons though, and this includes the roulette. Getting access to the dungeons doesn't mean you can run them and that's probably one of the reasons the roulette is locked behind the completion of them, since you need to meet requirements to even run them not just being level 50/60

That's not much of a reason at all - Trial roulette starts at 50 with the HM primals and goes up Sophia normal, yet it doesn't have any such issues. Trial roulette already works by adding unlocked duties to the pool, whether you have completed them or not and it contains duties of very different iLvL to boot. Sophia NM requires in iLvL of 220, yet you can queue for trial at level 60 in i90 - no problem!

Leveling roulette works the same by the way. You can start running leveling roulette once you have access to Sastasha and Tam-Tara, you do not have to wait until you have cleared Gubal.
Same goes for guildhest roulette, Frontline roulette and MSQ roulette (Yes, the MSQ roulette unlocks after UNLOCKING Praetorium, not clearing it).

It's expert, 50s and 60s roulette where you need to have cleared everything and the iLvL for the roulette is set to that of the highest duty in the roulette, so it constantly gets adjusted upward.

I don't really see what the problem is in running each dungeoun in the game at least once. It might seem daunting to a new player, but most of those dungeouns do not take much longer than 20-30 minutes at the most. Like has been said before, a normal person with 1-2 hours of play time can easily do 2-3 in an evening. While I can see this drawing away from being able to do other content, that is the drawback, and to be honest, it does nothing but help new players by showing them various game mechanics at a very basic level. I don't feel like this needs to be changed. Just because OP felt it was tedious because he has already done them all before, does not mean new players all feel this way.

This used to be like that when the lv. 50 roulette was introduced in patch 2.1 (as the high level roulette). It was changed because some people deliberately decided not to unlock Pharos Sirius to avoid it in the roulette (as it was harder than the other 4 dungeons).
Trials roulette used to also ask to complete all the trials to be unlocked, it was changed in patch 3.0 to its current behaviour.

We should also note that DR:Trials was changed because it contains both the Lv50 and the Lv51-60 trials. If we continued to require completion of all trials, everyone would would have been locked out of DR:Trials from 50 to 59, despite the need for people in 50, 53, and 57 trials.

DR:50 and DR:60 being separate, such a lock out is a non issue.

This would be nice, though personally, I'd settle for just having it tell us what it needs rather than saying it's locked pending the completion of:

It could still require ALL of them being unlocked before we can run it, rather than just including whichever happen to be unlocked. That's really a separate issue from whether it's the unlock or the completion that counts.

No roulette whatsoever works like that though. Either one needs to unlock two duties to unlock the roulette (Leveling, Guildhest, Trials, Main Story, Frontline) or one needs to complete all the duties to unlock the roulette (Lv. 50, Lv. 60, Expert, Mentor).
