Give us the choice of ICE/SNOW/SAND/PATIO/GRASS outdoor housing flooring [discussion]

So i noticed with winter drawing closer people are starting to decorate their homes with seasonal cute decorations, snowmen igloos christmas trees outside etc.
I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we were able to actually have snow flooring in our gardens? and Ice, like Shiva. Sand, concrete/patio and of course the normal grass we have now.

From what I remember from last years seasonal event the snow was falling but was not landing, it would be quite cool if we could have snow in our gardens! and be able to switch it up with the different seasons to come like we can already with the autumnal leaves and trees for Autumn.

Perhaps we can implement it similar to the Autumnal leaves that we have already, but in snow, sand and brick instead giving us even more chance to be creative with our homes. It can also involve some sort of animation like we have in game, ice could be slippery effect, sand could leave footprints same with snow.

Im not even sure if this is possible but I think it could be really interesting. :)

I think that our home areas should change with the seasons anyway. How could would it be to have the waterfall in Lavender Beds frozen for the Eorzean winter?

I would love this because I have an igloo and my house is in the goblet. It feels a little silly having an igloo when I live in the desert.

How about first give us way more plots for housing so that people could actually start caring for this?

Just had a thought - it must be seasonal. It shouldn't be possible to keep snow all year to prevent things getting silly. To me it would be best if it was automatic & followed the theoretical seasons we already have.

That may well happen when server upgrades & client upgrades happen come 4.0. There's no reason to be the Dog in the Manger about it.

It has been suggested a few times in the past, 100's upon 100's of excellent suggestions for housing have been, including this one, sadly 99% are not implemented. And we are met with dead silence regarding most.

Adopt Rift UI and all the abilities to build, actually build creations without the punishments of destruction and billion gil repurchases with miniscule item limits and housing would at least begin to be competitive to other games...finally being enjoyable and creative.

I cant believe the item limit is so incredibly small after years Oo..se should feel embarrassed tbh.
very quickly losing hope that they are capable of improving :(

They need to allow the dying of more interior fixtures like wallpaper and flooring. Not sure why that isn't an option already at this point. And yeah snow as a option would be nice although it'll look somewhat funny if the region around your house had none.

Really I live on a beach, why can't I have some nice sand in my garden? Or let us change it depending on the season (just optional).

Rift's is nice, but WildStar's editing controls are much more refined. Especially if one uses the Katia addon, which is brilliance in coding form. xD

Agree that the state of this game's housing should be an embarrassment to SE.

Id like to see that, even if I don't own a house, outside grass would be nice for holidays.

I'm not going to say what you're saying isn't true, there's plenty of decisions regarding the housing section which really raise my eye browns and induce strong table-flipping desire. Like how certain furniture will be destroyed upon removal on top of binding, why certain simple building blocks still aren't implemented (chameleon-style full/half partition, door partition in other styles) or cost far too much RNG/time/gil to obtain (like the new trees and dyeable rug from aquapolis... seriously, why dafuq do the rarest material have to be a shared material with a highly desired glamour is far beyond me) or what I can only assume to be a developer-decision restriction that only put a lid on player's creativity. I'm talking about how only X amount of item like fireflies or indirect lighting can be place in house/yard (excluding garden/flower pots/aquarium for different reasons).

BUT!

I don't think it's fair to beat them down so much on nearly every other housing post you put up on the forum either. They have shown that they have been listening to our request too, implementing aquariums and removing the destruction upon removal limitations on certain furniture. They have also confirmed to be working on raising the item counts as well. Sure, there's much left to be desire, and it might come really slowly, but they have been making the effort to work on what the players are requesting too, so give them some credit too will ya?

I do like the idea of snow, that snow outdoor item seems like a good step but I would assume (based on information on it) that its only a small part and some places are max, would have to remove so much for all we know. Hopefully they come with an option to have the yard full of a choice.

I'd agree with this as well, I mean if we can dye the roofs and such I'd assume giving us a few new wall papers or floors that can be dyed or edited should be possible too, right?

What are you talking about? Igloos and snowmen look totally natural on grass.
