I need more practice with more kinds of hardcore damage as I want to attempt Sophia ex and Savage Alex at some point.
What are some fights with tough healing checks mechanics that could help me with this?
I am a White mage btw

I heard pvp is a tough healing check.
Honestly I could careless about PvP in this game.
you have a point tho, not really what I was asking tho
-A4S Nisi strat (excercise in spot heals)
-A4S sac strat with sturms dolls blowing up (this is an exercise in MP management)
-A8S (heavy healing + movement)
-Thordan Ex minimum ilevel (bit of everything)
EDIT:
-NidHoggEX (bit of everything)
Nidhogg HM tends to be pretty intense since it feels like most people don't know how to dodge it >>;.....
Final Coil, turn 13 minimum ilvl. You earned your White Mage stripes in the day if you cleared this before HW.
A1S minimum ilvl.
A4S letting the stray dolls blow-up was the normal strat during progression. You were going to lose all your MP anyway so it was best to DPS as much as you could to push the 3rd/4th legs, and have Shroud/Assize, potions ready for the drain.
A6S + A8S (healing + timed movement), Seph Ex Minimal ilvl, Nidhogg Ex.
Sophia Ex isn't too hard on healers imo. The only things to watch for are casts for tankbusters (green) and party-wise damage (yellow). Outside of that, I'd say try Nidhogg or The Vault.
Sophia EX is no test, unless the whole group is rubbish in which case, even an exceptional healer won't manage
the vault in Dreadwyrm gear is testy, depending on dps.
Nidhogg ex can be hard and Thordan EX is arguably the hardest trial since HW launched, it's easy with silly dps now but if you don't skip phases it can get brutal towards the end.
Just do the vault a bunch of times, the last boss will help you practice movement and healing. You probably don't want to try A4s in order to help with sophia..(Lol nisi? What's that) There's aren't any healing checks in sophie just raising checks :^)
do PvP, that's like all the pve contents in 1..more or less..maybe..but ye do pvpu gunna be pro :D
Sophia EX is ridiculously easy. Unless your party is dreadful, as long as you can spot when Cintamani is coming up, you can snooze through it.
Nidhogg and Thordan EX are good fights to practice your healing on IMO, if your party isn't ridiculously over-geared. They test you on mana conservation, using your abilities more strategically, reacting to sudden heavy damage bursts, pre-casting and timing spells (Akh Morn, tankbusters) quick multiple target heals (Geirskogul, the two knights phase in Thordan), moving while healing and keeping up with mechanics - general all-round healing boot camp, really.
Weeping City with a bad group (ignores adds, stands in shit, etc.) is a very solid healing check.
The final boss of the vault is a good challenge for practice. Aside from that if you can get a que to go through try out Odin(synced). The healing check can be really nasty especially if you have a group of people who have no idea what they're doing and can't dodge properly.
I don't see the point of practicing healing in obsolete content because healing is all about knowing the fight and planning your resources. Just grab some friends and run Sophia or A9S, both are rather forgiving and you will learn about fights that are actually relevant.
I would say A11 and A12 normal are similar in their healing requirements than Sophia ex. A12 has tank busters and you'll have to pay attention to Prey targets while A11 has heavy AoE healing in some parts of the last phase. Especially A11 also seems to have many people dying in Duty Finder, which is good practice for Sophia ex...
I can still be challenged in The Vault at ilevel 250 with a party that is either new or isn't good at the mechanics. Even with a good party it can still be healing-intensive at times.
"obsolete"
"relevant"
Lol. Why not just tell everyone that don't run the most recent extremes and the tougher savages that they aren't playing correctly?
Telling someone to learn healing by only playing "relevant" content is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. There is a lot you can learn from older content, like Extreme Primals and Coils (especially at Min-ilvl).
@OP: Many of what has been suggested are good places, and it really comes down to how "good" you are at healing and how much you need to "learn".
You really don't need to practice for Sophia EX. Just learn it with a good co-heal. Then, after you understand the mechanics, tell your co-heal (especially SCH coheals) to focus on DPS and "solo heal." THEN try actually solo healing. Try to get a handle on your MP limitations while with a coheal, so you can see how much you can DPS while still solo healing, without mana starving. I was at 830+ DPS (lots of optimization could have been done/no bard, but it was a fun first attempt) solo healing as an SCH a little while back and by the end of it my MP was scraping.
Agree, flow of fights and required healing throughput are so fight specific, there's little reason once you know how to burst heal to go back and do old content. Jump in head first and learn from your mistakes. Most high level content is about properly handling the specific mechanics of the fight, not uber-heal checks (though some do exist)
I agree that Niddhog Ex and Thordan are good fights to practice WHM on, mostly at min ilevel though. i260+ it's a cakewalk to heal but before was a bit harder.
Current content that I feel will be good to practice on is a11 and a12 normal modes, in a bad group a11 can be quite challenging. I'm saying that and I've cleared as12 lool.
Just do whatever works for you and take it at your own pace.
Why are you guys suggest minilvl content like t13 or thordan or whatnot? If he would do that, he could just go straight into alex savage or current primals. Wouldnt make a difference.
Older minimum ilvl content can actually be more heal challenging then current content. Sophia Ex is a joke compared to say Thordan Ex healing-wise at i190 or even Nidhogg Ex. This savage tier unless you are going in A11S-A12S thats about it.
A11 normal can be the usual rough house because there is sometimes that healer that doesn't catch the prey, and then of course people who can't dodge telegraphed AoEs. Still the only floor on normal I just refuse to play any other job aside from healer because of the fails.
I'm pretty much the same way about A11 normal. I tried to DPS it a few times and the healer fails were so immense that I only heal A11N just to avoid wasting time.
On that note A11N is a good to practice healing in the current gear iteration thanks to the prey mechanic keeping you aware (or they WILL die) among all the other craziness that happens and people not understanding a good way to dodge mechanics. It'll be frustrating at first until you realize there are something you can't heal due to silly.
Nidhogg EX is a great fight to learn how to play whm it'll teach you raid awareness for bellowing roar on the group, magical tank buster, dodging and weaving while covering towers as well as helping dps the dps check on the adds.
If that doesn't work A11 normal and A12 normal are a great way to test yourself then move onto A9S.
*whispers in the background*
Synced T7 is a hoot all around. Positioning, a healer task, damage never stops ever.
Nidhogg is still a great place too.
