Cait Sith Plush and in-game reward

Not saying it looks terrible, but for 38 something with shipping I don't think its worth that much. I mean look at the Blaze the cat doll.

Idk. Maybe its a Japanese trend for dolls to look this way and seen as cute. I think its a bit....sub-standard...if that makes sense.

Edit: Blaze is worth about 18$. So I'm guessing the doll and the in game item of the cait sith doll are the same price? Ugh....

It's as you said, it's made to look like a sewed up ragdoll, because that's what cait sith usually is.

I know. I'm talking about the looks of the doll compared to the minion and the character as well as the price.

I have the plush irl, its really cute and looks good imo.
A bit small but the quality is well done.

I am actually due to receive mine tomorrow. If anyone's interested, I can post a couple of pictures. I have nothing against how it looks (obviously), and rather I like how it doesn't have too much excessive 'fur'. I would have only preferred the ribbon to be a bit less dull, but that's all. The in-game ears are pretty cool though :3

As someone who's been sewing for over 12 years, I can very confidently say that the Cait Sith has much better craftsmanship and material selection than the Sonic plush and has more of a vibe of something a professional plusher would craft.

Blaze
-Head is very clearly lopsided from the promo picture alone. These pictures often showcase the prototype versus the actual mass produced plush and having such a clearly flawed piece pictured to advertise the product is like the distributor going "lol here's your darn cat".
-Her pupils are ironed on and the forehead jewel is glued. These features are absolutely going to get damaged and collect dirt over time if the plush is displayed normally and any attempts to hand wash it will make the damage worse.
-She's made out a cheap generic and vaguely soft flame resistant polyester.
-The fur details are made out a very thing and low quality faux fur. That fur is absolutely going to fall out and get matted over time and washing will again, make the damage worse.

Cait Sith
-The head and body are mostly symmetrical (minus the little pink leg ends) and the promo pictures make it clear as such. It is being photographed and advertised as a premium collectable and inspires confidence that it's been produced as such.
-Cait Sith is mainly constructed out of minky fabric. Minky is the top of the line with plush currently, it's extremely soft, pleasant to look at, and won't get gunked up with age if displayed with proper care.
-All of Cait Sith's parts are very firmly sewn in, even the eyes. I could take a toothbrush to gently surface clean Cait Sith if needed without causing damage.
-My only real complaint with Cait Sith is the ear shape and how close together they are. However giving him heart shaped ears like the minion has would've been rather difficult on a mass produced scaled because of how the ears have the be sewn into the head before the head is turned inside out and sewn into the body. I wouldve just ladder-stitched his head on to avoid that if I was making him, but that's a time consuming hand finishing technique that's not factory friendly.

What do you do to damage your dolls? I actually have several Sonic Plushes and keep them in mint condition and DO NOT wash them. Its like washing those animal hat things, you just don't do it. Most of my problem with the Cait Sith doll is the eyes, which they could've kept it cute and bug-eyed instead of giving it the dead cross-eyed look. The body looks less symmetrical in comparison to the original model, the size is ok, but its the way attached I suppose? I agree with the ears comment. the tail is fine. The feet could be shaped in similarity to the model, but this is all nitpick of different interests and or point of view effed up from bad imaging. If I'd had to chose material over appearance I'd do so when it comes to dolls.

I was in Tokyo recently and pretty much blew a lot of cash at the Artnia Cafe merchandise. I got 4 Cait Sith plushies since I wanted the ears and my FC mates also wanted them. The plushies are pretty small but are really well made and are quite cute. Though to be fair, the quality doesn't compare to something like the Vivi plushie which is super detailed and has separate clothing and overall feels much more premium. It's also more expensive though.

"Dusting" does not get rid of stuff that can build up on plush over time. Unless you keep your plush in some kind of glass fronted case they're going to get a buildup in the fabric itself over time and lose their softness and color. By over time, I'm talking decades not a year or two. You're also confusing gentle surface washing with a soft toothbrush and a mild detergent with throwing things in the washing machine. Other people also have kids or young relatives who get a hold of the toy and play too hard with it.

For the record, I don't own any collectors plush of any kind currently aside from a Big Stitch Tsumtsum that I use as a pillow. I'm just speaking as someone who knows how to make them from scratch and some other general long term adult toy collecting things ^ ^u

Looks pretty awful. But if people keep buying these poor quality products for the ridiculously overpriced price points you're only encouraging SE to continue selling poor quality products for outrageous prices.

$30+ bucks for a crappy stuffed cat doll is ridiculous regardless of what it's related to. I could sew and ship you that thing and make it look better for less than $5. Stop buying bad products for bad prices and maybe you'll start getting quality.

Other than being smaller than I expected, the overall quality is great. I have the Goobbue, Fat Cat, both Carbuncles, and both moogle plushies too. All of them have had pretty outstanding work. On the Cait Sith I inspected things like the tail and the eyes and the ribbon, and everything seems very secure. The fabric is extremely soft and nice to the touch. Having such a large head and an extended tail you'd think there'd be some lopsidedness to it but it holds up nicely.

It's definitely not cuddly like the moogles or carbuncles but it's pretty nicely made. TBH the in-game ears are pretty ugly so if I weren't the first person to get it that I know I probably wouldn't have as the doll is kind of creepy imo. (and I am someone that likes "creepy" dolls lol)

I don't have any complaints about the plushies (other then the extreme shipping costs)

I have purchased quite few of them for the in game items, no interest in a toy.
I wouldn't say they are outstanding. They are a typical plushie. :rolleyes:

About the Toy: I would like to know how they produce it, it looks like handmade, but we dont know how... For Japan its not common to rely on china industry, thats why it may be that expensive! Still, i dont say they are paying their workers fair *sigh*

To be fair: Most, if not all of SE plush products are NOT crappy stuffed.
Compared to other products, those from SE are mostly very well stuffed with a lot filling material - its a sign of good quality!
Even when the seam looks poor, none of the stuffed products from SE are damaged - other Products the seam will open or rip after a week!
Still, the design is something i dont like... I like something as in the picture above!

Nice and soft, really firm despite being a plush. Nicely filled. 10/10

I would also like to add that at the same time I own a really expensive plush by Blizzard, more accurately their Zergling/Baneling plush which I twisted like two times and the baneling green blob broke. Also the zergling's legs are not filled properly so one part is skinnier than the other. Cith Saith's fur also feels a lot more soft and just... The whole plushie seems like there's been a lot of effort put it in it. I mean sure, the stitches might not be by hand, but they are straight and correct (important detail).

It has an X stitching on its butthole... What is it with people and adding a butthole to animals these days, lmao.

I think they gave him the kind of stitched up look so that it'd vaguely resemble Lulu's moogle doll from FF X. They used the same design for the moogle doll in FF VII AC and have done something similar for the moogle doll in FF XV

Personally I'm not a fan or the look.

From Synrin's pictures the finished product looks great. I'm confused on why the tail appears to be made of a different material but, nothing else sticks out as not being what the promo picture promised. It's hard to really differentiate plush as hand made or machine made, because there's finishing work and top detail that can only be done by hand even if the seam work and applique were applied by machine. So unless the entire thing was hand stitched it's always going to be a mix of hand and machine work.

I have this plush. Its my favourite plush of the ones I own. I have chocobo chick, moogle, cait sith, and blue carbuncle.

Cait sith is smaller than I expected - but its actually a really great make, and looks really good.

The most dissapointing one is the chocobo chick. It looks terrible and bland irl.

I bought the plush at fanfest knowing that I don't really care about the in-game item, I just thought the plush was adorable even though it was expensive. That and the fat cat. So yeah I like the plush the way that it is.

I actually want the choco-chick's in game item but its soooo ugly that I haven't purchased it.

That is SE's official europian merch site. There should be one (site) for every region I think, just gotta find it via SE's website. I got mine yesterday so I can't really compare it to the carbuncle, as I don't even have the carbuncle.
