This seems to be a discussion you should have within your static, not here. That said, why not just show the gear and stats of the best Scholars out there? It's pretty obvious none of them are using anything but MND accessories.
Nhago's active DPS is very low. This would be alright so long as his cohealer balanced it out. Your healer DPS contribution for a9s is less than 500. Less than 400 on Faust. As long as you're killing the content, the play style is completely fine, but in our raid group the healer DPS contribution for Faust and Refurbisher is over 2k. Both of your healers should consider discussing healing priorities and specific fight mechanics to minimize over healing.
Your healers don't have to get you that last 5% (although I bet they could if they tried!) But 2% more would go a long ways.
Give him an overmelded 250 ring as a present. [Acc 5, rest 4s] with 18 accuracy V melds (every slot) plus the 4 accuracy 4 overmelds, he'd be at 597 accuracy before food. This way he has no reason to consider tank accessories. : D
Tell him to go for the relic if he's serious about scholar and invest Accuracy into it, so he can meld more crit. The book will eventually be worth more dps than the i275 alex drop.
Melding all slots with Accuracy to 570 and eating HQ grilled sweetfish would work too (+5% accuracy up to 36). They are beyond dirt cheap to make and give decent vit.
He definitely should upgrade all his gear if he wants o keep going. Every upgrade is VIT (left side) and MND (-> DPS and Heal increase!).
A11S will have some heal and HP checks (Photon and few sec after AoE damage) and he should be able to survive. I had 20k HP on my first clear and had to increase my HP pool with gear and another VIT meld (I use 3) to have around 22k to not go splat in A12 progression as easily.
My set I use (or very similiar)

The relic is not needed as you can reach acc cap with melds on ur gear and food anyway but the 270/275 non relic options are crap anyway for a SCH this tier so may as well go for it.
In general to the topic: if he doesn't want to upgrade he doesnt care enough for the team as any upgrade makes it easier to pass HP, DPS or heal checks.
Hope you manage to convince him else... I fear you should look for somone who is willing to invest a minimum :-/
I started off the Raid Tier with an Accuracy melded Hat, Body and Ring, while adding accuracy in other areas to reach cap. T5s in the Sophia weapons since it so good.
There isn't much reason for Vit melds until you start getting 270 accessories and are progressing A11/12
Can't edit on my phone lol. But it's the crafted hat, Body and Ring. They are so good. Your friend should get the best gear they can if not for healing then DPS. Not to mention the better SCH gear then the more of Alex that the Fairy can solo heal.
Edited: Made a mock up of what gear your friend should upgrade to, to actually become Raid Ready (Up to A11S at least)

They can leave most of the Vitality on their Prototype Accessories since it's already there and is a nice buffer for A11.
This will increase their healing by at least 10% and increase their DPS by around 25% by the better gear itemization as well as reaching accuracy cap.
I've watched a WHM get kicked from my group for putting too much priority on DPS.
I think if it works for your group go for it but from the sound of the OP...it's just not working so kicking needs to be put on the table for this gentlman. Sometimes when the thought of terminating someone's position in a static can make someone change their tune real quick.
Oh god lol, you should probably just kick that player since he's showing up with fending accessories on sch. LOL.
He doesn't seem to realize just how important mind is.
Have him buy the shire healing pants, they are godly for scholar, and get the crafted 250 chest made, and that will go a long way right there.
If he cares so much about accuracy he should have done his relic, but even without it you'll be more than fine with an accuracy 5 in every slot and grilled sweetfish/priestly omelette. You might miss 1 broil out of every 20, but who cares at that point.
If he's not willing to shape up then you may just have to replace him, I know he's your friend, but if he's going to be stubborn when he's clearly in the wrong then it's time to ask what is more important, your raid actually progressing, or his feelings. That may sound harsh, but it's a necessary evil at times. Shape up or ship out.
Sounds like you need a new sch or perhaps you should direct him to this thread.
He won't be able to deal with A11S and A12S sadly with his current mindset.
So it seems your raid leader and this guy are assuming that with time, they will get the clear eventually.
I guess the decision falls in your court now, since you cleared it with a PUG and it's relatively recent with the release of this tier and most average groups are on progression on A11s or a12s...I would say explore your options with another static.
My WAR has been offering his help in other statics ever since we cleared a12s so I have seen a person run himself dry trying to raid with multiple groups lol.
If I were you, I'd really consider finding a more cooperative group focused on true progression. Cause it sounds like you want to get things done! And I can respect that lol
You aren't wrong. Most SCH of a similar ilvl are doing about 2x more DPS, which would definitely help. Having upgraded gear would help even further.
Looking at your logs though the issue isn't primarily with your SCH. Unless your entire group is Sub i250, then it may be a good idea to set aside a day to practice roles together.
It would be nice if your Main Healer offered some DPS as well, since the boss in A10S doesn't hit very hard outside of mechanics and tank busters.
Oh definitely. If you are just blatantly not looking into half decent gear itemizations (not expecting anyone to go full T5 Pentamelding on Crafted, for first time progression etc) then your actual Raid Effort is probably going to match that mentality for sure.
An amusing part though is that your SCH's damage matches that gear layout you provided given their accuracy and adjusting for Progression Status. So they are doing about as well as they can given their gear and depending on how they sync with your Main Healer.
Most of your groups deaths are simply due to failing mechanics and the majority is from taking Double Critical Wrath which no amount of Shielding can help with.
Your best run with only 2 Deaths, Double Critical Wrath, and a Discharge from stepping into the outside of the arena was still 400 DPS low from passing enrage. There appears to have been minimal DPS loss due to the deaths given your average run of A10S.
---------------------------------------------------
About my previous post, I had to edit it due to I was looking at if your group was hitting enrage @ 0% which was incorrect as you stated that it was enrage @ 5%. If your SCH was hitting 1k DPS then you for sure would have just squeezed in a clear, but the underlying issue is your entire party DPS for sure.
Before Raid reset you could have your group do SSS Dummy practices. A great baseline is
A11S @ i248 with an i255 weapon
A12S @ i255
This will let you know where everyone is at and which areas need improvement, because your SCH doing an extra 500 DPS will not make up for the fact that your group is at least 2k DPS from where it should be as average players and about 4.5k DPS from where top players were clearing the first week.
I don't think there is a fix for this kind of problem.
Might want to find another sch.
I think this highlights the main issue then. Seeing someone's gear makes things pretty obvious so that is probably the reason why the SCH is being targeted. But you can break things down to get a better overall view.
WHM - Decently Geared. Has over the accuracy cap. Keeps the party alive but provides almost 0 extra DPS. Dies to mechanics. - (70% efficiency)
SCH - Poor gear. Below Accuracy Cap. Keeps the party alive. Provides decent DPS given gear. Rarely dies to mechanics (80% efficiency) - gear would simply bring this to around 90%
BRD/BLM - Decent gear. Often dies to mechanics. Low DPS. (60% efficiency)
NIN - Rarely Dies to mechanics. Ok DPS (80% efficiency)
DRG - Rarely Dies to mechanics. Decent DPS (90% efficiency)
Tanks - 75% efficiency combined.
As a team your group needs to work together with the raid leaders to bring up morale so everyone can get better.
