Whatever happened to veteran rank 14?, it was overdue and now it seems to have been put back another 90 days, why?
I heard they weren't doing veteran rewards anymore :(
Well, where is squall outfit they showed ? No a reward ? Maybe event ? a glam to craft ? A glam to buy ? So mysterious...
Not doing anymore? I hope this is not true, it shows an absolute disregard for long term playeys loyalty to the game
That's a bit much, I think. If the only reason you're subscribed is to get something that a new player won't be able to get for four years, I don't know what to tell you. At this point veteran rewards are less an incentive to stay subscribed than an exclusionary club for people to lord over new players.
I have no idea how they might change the system, but perhaps a system where every X days you get to pick an item from a master list of rewards. That way they can keep making more, new players have a hope of getting them, and everyone has a reason to stay subscribed. Win-win-win!
The JP playerbase has a deep hatred for the veteran rewards.
A few months ago, there was a thread asking for any bilingual players to check out what was being discussed in other sections of the forums, particularly the JP side since the actual Devs can jump into conversations there whenever.
The two busiest and most liked threads at the time in the JP general were complaining about GC restrictions for PVP (lol) and how unfair the Veteran system is to players that don't stay consistently subscribed or are newer.
/shrug
If it is true that they said "We will no longer be doing this because new players won't be able to ever get these items." or some variation. Then I say "Ha! What hypocritical trite!"
If you will indulge me a moment. PVP Seasonal Rewards, White Raven Earrings. Dalamud Earrings. Minions from Sound tracks/ Real life merchandise. New players will never get these. Hell I'm not a new player and I won't get them >.> /rant.
I sorta understand it, would be cool if they gave us phantasias or something after rank 14 as a little bonus instead.
My understanding, second hand as it was, was that they intend to have some alternate system to replace the current one at some point.
According to latest information, rank 14 is reward for 1440 days/4 years. Nobody is there yet. It is Squall outfit. And yes, that is going to be the last one for now.
The veteran reward system is a cute but highly unneeded bonus for people that stay subbed. I felt no particular way about it. People seem to like it so why mess with it? However, I strongly dislike the new "I'm offended" culture that seems to be spreading now. We don't need to tear down every single thing that offends people.
I will give a constructive solution though! Just add all this veteran stuff to the cash shop! BAM! solved. If you stay subbed long enough, there ya go buddy, free cash shop stuff. Oh, you are jealous of some guy's fancy shirt? You devil you, just go buy one for 5$ on mogstation.... Everyone happy...people clap, curtain closes.
Wouldn't that defeat their purpose, being rewards for veterans and all? I'd prefer with what the stuck with now and this is coming from someone quite a ways behind (780 days atm) that would have never caught up had they kept going. WoW gave away a statue to those subscribed for a very long time with minimal or no breaks since the game launched and I didn't see anyone complain on their forum other than those miffed that they were unsubbed for 2 or so months during the 10 year period. It's a costume, barding or minion that those JP players will get eventually, you don't get everything instantly by throwing $5-30 at it in an MMORPG.
The token system for future veteran rewards is a good one though. Maybe they could finally implement more than just male characters in that case, as you'd be able to pick your rewards (though the outfits should work on both genders either way).
Hmm, where to begin, those few of us that have been here from the beginning have played or at least sub'd even when the servers go quiet, which they inevitably do, is there something wrong with getting a reward that says thankyou for staying? Granted it is exclusive, even more so the longer you play. To me personally it shows SE are at least thinking of long term players and not just the new
GC Restrictions in Frontlines is indeed an issue, but veteran Rewards are gift to long term subscribing, why would new players get a lot of stuff? It doesn't make any sense that you get a lot of rewards when you're new, i seriously don't understand how people could agree to new players get all those goodies.
Where are you getting "a lot" from? It's not like the JP are asking for all veteran rewards to be available from day 1, and it was Yoshida himself that said they will continue giving rewards using a different format while rank 14 would be the last of this format.
So if SE want to abandon the current veteran rewards because it too exclusive and newer players don't want to wait for them, when is SE gunna give away Mogstation items that have been there for 3 years to players who game on a budget and can't afford to spend money on exclusive stuff
I would replace the actual system with a token system. Say "Veteran Token", you get 2 every tier. Most of the veteran rewards include 2 items per tier, so it's one and one. You trade it for whatever reward you want. For outfits, you receive x4 vouchers like Rowena's to trade for these pieces. That would cost 2 Veteran Tokens.
Am I the only one who sees strong irony in that SE stops veteran rewards because "newbies can't get them right away"
yet introduces limited time rewards (feast season rewards) at the same time that are gonna be completely unavailable after 2 seasons?
I assume the reason is because the veteran rewards became just old FF character glamour. It started out fine with minions and fantasias and swimsuits, but at some point SE just wanted to put glamour of old characters in there, and increased the amount of time between rewards to an absurd degree. So if a new person wants Squall glamour they are going to have a bad time. For stuff like feast rewards nobody cares because they don't look great and are pretty much impossible for most people to get anyway. They may as well not exist.
At least if you play long enough you would get these rewards..but I will (at least for now) never get all those merchandise minions that released before I even found this game and now even the PVP reward so..yeah like some said its kinda ironic..I do hope that the JP players that are against veteran rewards are against these truly limited rewards too..
In my opinion they could have given us a retainer once a year and whatever else inbetween, they're practical and you can't lord over others with them, and retainers are useful for longer than any glamour
Except free retainers doesn't make square any money.
What would be nice for veteran rewards and fair and also maybe make me not hate cash shop. Is a token for each month subbed. Then everything that is current rewards is moved into cash shop and everything currently and in the future gets a token amount. That way anyone who plays a long time can have anything in the cash shop. Who knows how many veteran rewards we actually lost to the cash shop as it is. It also means that stuff you would never want to see never gets mailed to you and the stuff you might actually use you could pick.
So let's summarize what looks like the future for rewards. First ditch the veteran rewards which actually rewards long term players with something different for a system that rewards short term or part time players who don't see themselves playing a few years down the road and everybody gets basically the same thing (boring).
Is this forward thinking? Penalize long-term players in favour or players who won't be playing later? Bizarre at it sounds it looks that way
Easy solution, add a new rewards system if they must but keep the existing one with better rewards, that are a proper incentive, something unique and desirable.
Lastly, stop pandering to those players who aren't interested in being here in the future
I don't necessarily mind either way. I'm not more or less likely to subscribe as a result. I'm more frustrated by the fact i had to buy the game twice (once for PS4 and once for PC). Due to the literal tight budget of my living this last year, i could not afford the $40 re-buy cost in one chunk at any one time, but i could always somehow scrape together $10 for a sub, maybe at the expense of a meal or two... but no game ... so i had to unsub for close to a year. As a result, SE actually lost money, and i will never get the final veteran reward no matter how long i play, if they keep adding new ones.
I still don't really mind either way. I get that some will though... particularly those wanting to get every minion or mount.
I guess I just don't understand how anyone thinks that "lording" these prizes over anyone is supposed to have any effect. I mean I realize this is the internet so I know *someone* will think its a good idea to try this. I just don't get why it's supposed to get anyone all hot and bothered. Maybe a piece of my soul is long dead so I am not bothered by any of these kind of things... Also there are lots of similar situations where I see people not bat a eye so I get confused. Like for instance the moogle costume from last year's convention was amazing and if I recall it can't be obtained anymore. Where are all the threads hot and bothered about that? That costume was amazing! No...we are all sad about dressing up as the monkey boy from FF9... I mean, it was a great game, don't get me wrong but....MOOGLES don't take precedence?
Well they said they are changing the system whatever that may mean.
Personally i just think retainers should be rewards for sub, lol
The Squall Outfit is Dissidia one, not the Original.
If they add it might either be Veteran Reward or possible event about the new Dissidia Arcade, which makes sense if ported to consoles and PC.
Let's take a look at wikia description of Dissidia Arcade:
It was released on November 26, 2015, so it's been almost one Year, i assume announcement should come this Year, and makes sense if the Squall Outfit is part of Arcade, might even be a Pre-order Reward from Arcade, might be an Outfit that's unlocked within the game, or a cross event.Quote:
The game was released for arcades on November 26, 2015. It uses modified PlayStation 4 hardware, meaning a console version is possible, though Square Enix have noted that it will not be considered until at least a year after the original release.
Have to wait and see.
