People are intentionally staying out of battles on raids and then rolling for rewards

I noticed that some players which include healers would stay out of fights on 24-man raids and then roll for the rewards which they shouldn't be allowed to roll for

The game should decline to give people the drops if they don't participate in all the fights

So if someone starts the fight early, forcing some players to be locked out through no fault of their own, then the locked-out players shouldn't be able to roll for rewards?

It seems like that would just encourage people to lock others out so that they have fewer people to roll against.

This is what the kick feature is for, If you allow it (or the group) then this is more or less your own fault (s)

I know in Jp data centers they will wait for people before starting fights most of the time, if you are afk to long, you get kicked.

The problem with that is that someone can OK the ready check then just step out when the fight starts. You can't vote kick during combat, so there's no way for players to address this.

if you see someone doing that, then let everyone know, it's very clear that they are doing if you notice it. if they are really serious about it, some groups have been known to just wipe so they can kick the person, Just don't stand for it, don't allow a leech.

If the early puller got past the portal in time what was preventing whoever got locked out from getting there in time as well? They both have to travel exactly the same distance to reach the next boss, and the portal doesn't close until 15 seconds after battle begins.

The people who get locked out of battles in game usually stay daydreaming after a boss fight ends, likely daydreaming mid battle as well, so your problem is solved as easily as not watching netflix/crunchyroll while doing content.

Unexpected things irl can happen too. Doorbells, someone hollering for something, kids if a person has them. Someone's stretch of free time to play a game might not always be 100% perfect.

Just adding this. I once had two people in a party get locked out of a boss fight because tank decided to tank the boss right at the entrance. It's butt was sticking out of the entrance so two meelee DPS were locked out. This was in T3 (or T2, the one with circle bosses).

I run mhach several times a week across my alts, and see this at least once per alt. The best ones are the guys who intentionally get nuked and then release so they can pop a squat at the gate. Why even bother logging in if you don't intend to play the game...

This is what people say when they miss the DF queue, except that you get locked out after 3 fails. Maybe people need to get locked out of loot after a fail or two then.

I have had tanks sprint off and pull without waiting for anybody or anyone. It's not fun on either side of needing to finish the fight with less people or to just get locked out because you got distracted for 15 seconds.

This is where reporting comes in. It also helps to be "that guy" and point out the person. A lack of response (or a successful probe for a hostile response) in chat log, combined with evidence of a lack of combat activity and the fact the person confirmed being ready, is generally enough to argue manipulative behavior and griefing.

This. It happens a lot, especially in 24man content, where finger pointing isn't as prevalent. Hell, it's not even just tanks that do that. A lot of healers and dps do the same thing too, expecting a tank that is near to pick it up, while everyone that needs TP for fights decided to not use Sprint (as is justifiable).

Considering players who really intentionally stay out of fight, bothering to implement such feature would be kind of pointless, because such players would then work around it by instead stepping in the active fight zone and then do nothing / activate random skills / dance naked / stay dead cold on the floor / respawn outside the locked area.

Such feature would also penalize players who were locked out of the battle unintentionally such as but not limited to:
- first timer watching cutscenes
- player locked out because someone rushed / did not wait for a completed Ready-Check

It's certainly far from being perfect but whatever the bad behavior type, your best bet is still the Votekick thingie.

What if they only allowed people who were inside the gate to roll on loot. Then have the gate not drop until loot has been awarded?

Or the person joined and in progress run. I've seen, "Wait for X's tank/healer please...and you pulled...and they're locked out" happen a lot.

I'm going to go ahead and be the asshole here but I'm not alone in saying that people are sick of waiting 3 minutes at boss gates for people to go make themselves a sandwich or w/e in between fights in 24mans. Not singling you out, per se, but way too many people act this way in DF and it's selfish. 3 minutes is 69 minutes of other people's time you're wasting, so don't expect special treatment. If you gotta go, you gotta go, but when you AFK you forfeit your right to complain about people not waiting for you.

And there is a problem with people intentionally dying in some fights and then refusing to accept a raise until the fight is over.

And we can't kick during a fight or until all loot is rolled for.
I had 2 (not one, but two) people like this a group yesterday.
