The name Sasabaru is also used in A Realm Reborn within the fishing log entry for Loyal Pleco (which ironically seems to contain a joke about swapping L for R).
The German variant of the same entry, likewise, says Sasabaru now whereas the name was Sasabal Ul Sisibal in 1.0.
The French version of the same entry, however, retains the 1.0 name: Sasabal Ul Sisibal. -

The culture section states "with each tribe centered around a strong breeding male (nunh) whose duty it is to form a harem and lead his people to glory and prosperity."
Is this perhaps erroneous a statement? -

Not sure if this is a bug or just some really ambiguous phrasing, but it says that the spelling and pronunciation of Lalafellin names is due to them only have 5 vowels (a, e, i, o, u.) Except I'm pretty sure that the other races have the same amount of vowels as well, it wouldn't make sense unless their old language had no consonants.
Is this a bug? does the old Lalafell tongue have only 5 letters? -

(Or Japanese). In that sense, there wouldn't be a linguistic vowel for the diphthong [äɪ̯] for "eye" or "light" anywhere. Or the "a" sound in something like "apple" as well, since that vowel sound isn't technically contained in a strict pronunciation of the vowels.Quote:

It's a little something that's getting lost in translation, and reiichi is mostly right - the real-world in-joke of Lalafell names is that they're all created using exclusively Japanese gojūon and yōon phonetics. タタル・タル (Tataru Taru), テレヂ・アデレヂ (Teledji Adeledji/"Tereji Adereji"), ロロリト・ナナリト (Lolorito Nanarito), パパシャン・ノノシャン (Papashan Nonoshan), ヂュララ・ヂュラ (Dewlala Dewla/"Jurara Jura")... you get the idea. While other names might be transcribed into katakana for Japanese pronunciation, the Lalafell names are built within Japanese phonetics. Japanese has only five normal vowel sounds yes, we can split hairs about how many yōon sounds work and are romanized, but with no real equivalent of things like "hard A vs. soft A", so Lalafell names also possess only the five vowels of Japanese - soft a ("ah"), soft i ("ee"), high u ("ooh"), soft e ("eh"), and low o ("ohh").
This is the point the book was trying to convey, but without referencing the real-world conceit of Lalafellin names. -

As Kage said, this section explicitly contradicts what has been previously published on Seeker lore. It was NOT said that they're patriarchal previously, as the lore book now states they are patriarchal. It was stated that the nunh RARELY actually leads the tribe in the official naming convention thread. We were to accept that the U tribe in game was one of these exceptions due to their nunh being renowned for being one of the Company of Heroes, but that the other tribes out there were matriarchal. -

Here the lore book states that the frozen seas allowed for the migration of the Miqo'te back to Eorzea from southern Ilsabard. It also states that they were persecuted and driven from Eorzea 2000 years prior.
Previous lore statements in the game have indicated that the migration that occurred during the Age of Endless Frost was that of the ancestors of the Miqo'te coming from Meracydia. Not only does not make sense that they would be forced into Ilsabard and then need a frozen sea to return to Eorzea from Ilsabard (how did they get there in the first place if they needed the frozen sea to get back?), but it directly contradicts lore given since 1.0 and 2.0 about the origins of Miqo'te. There is also no indication of when they arrived in Eorzea originally, if the Allagans forced them out. -

Lucia's profile describes how she infiltrates Ishgard as an acolyte, only for a curious Aymeric to question her. In this situation the book says that he discovers her as a Garlean agent, but instead of turning her over to the authorities he offers to let her live if she would serve him. The book then goes on to describe how terrified she is for her life after she agrees to his coniditions and frequently plotting a way to escape only to eventually see him as a leader.
However, this completely goes against any language version of the game. She willingly came to him of her own accords after being inspired by his leadership and revealed herself as a Garlean, where he then chose to accept her. The book portrayal also makes Aymeric come off as more of a villain than he really is. Though he is fiercely protective of Ishgard the situation seems unusual to his personality. This book situation also makes Lucia seem more helpless than how she actually is ingame -

It is not that she is helpless or that she was constantly plotting a way. It said that her original intentions were to tell him she would do what he wanted in exchange for her life until she could escape. Aymeric does not come off as a villain. He actually comes off as extremely naive for deciding to let her live. There is also another way to interpret the story where Aymeric "discovers" she is Garlean and her mission by her telling him it and leaving herself at his mercy, but hoping to still leave with her life. She only needed to escape if she were to be executed.Quote:

It comes off more like Lucia was trying to pull the wool over Aymeric's eyes by playing the victim and using his naivety to her advantage while looking for a chance to make a break for it, but instead found herself so impressed by his skills that she felt his was a better cause to follow.
Considering her high rank of power within Ishgard gained by sticking to Aymeric's side verses being a lowly, forgettable spy, it wasn't a bad choice. -

Thank you for taking the time to point out all Lore Book’s many flubs (no sarcasm intended!)
We did our best to clean up the book as best as we could before printing, but many appear to have made it through the editing process...and for that I apologize. DEEPLY apologize. A lot of the things you are bringing up are legit errors (Althyk, the Scholar...ULP!)—the result of a lot of long hours and not a thorough enough check process. Another reason behind some of these is simply inconsistencies within the game itself, especially when it came to 1.x lore and the crossover into 2.x and 3.x lore. A lot of 1.x stuff (especially the pre-Yoshida stuff) got lost in a haze once the baton touch occurred. This thread is actually helping bring to light some of that, and hopefully we can get things in-game fixed.
I’m still recovering from last week’s Fest, so I’m not yet going to touch upon everything in thread, but there is one issue brought up here that I wanted to address: Leveva’s mother.
In the lore book, it states that Leveva’s mother died in childbirth, even though the woman is mentioned specifically in several of the Astrologian job quests.
Here is the story behind this:
Leveva’s birth mother is, in fact, DEAD. She died in childbirth as the lore book states. Leveva’s father never really recovered from this, which can be attributed to his desire to travel the world and focus on his realm of study—he needed something to help him forget his pain. However, he recognized that his daughter would need someone to raise her, so he gave the task to his childless younger sister, who raised Leveva like her own daughter. With her father gone, it was only natural that Leveva saw this woman (the only woman to raise her) as a mother figure, and she naturally took to calling her “mother,” even after she was old enough to realize that she was actually her aunt.
It is my fault that I did not make this clear in the original Astrologian quest, and so I have gone back and tweaked a line in the quest spoken by Jannequinard from:

This comes in the last quest, after Leveva has already mentioned her mother and the fact that she might be kidnapped by Sevestre. Those will stay as-is, as for Leveva, there is no reason to clarify that she isn’t speaking of her birth mother...because for her, her aunt is the only “mother” she has ever known. Having Jannequinard reveal it here, when talking about Leveva’s father, seemed more natural.
Again, I apologize about leaving this important part out of the original quest. The updated text should be implemented into the game for 3.45.

If there is an error here, I'm not sure which part of this it is. Something feels off, though, so I'm just going to lay it all out.
Popokkuli, Seserukka, and Nenekko were the children of Shalala and the guildmaster of the Miners' Guild in 1.0. When the Grand Companies were introduced, Fyrgeiss was named the chief foreman of Amajina & Sons via the Syndicate chart.
As of A Realm Reborn, the Lalafells are referred to as the children of the chief foreman or chairman depending on the reference, and the twins are credited as the "Sons" of "Amajina & Sons". The Encyclopædia Eorzea harks back to both of these sources, calling Fyrgeiss both chief foreman (in the Syndicate section) and chairman (in the Amajina & Sons) section.
Neither the guildmaster father nor Shalala are mentioned in A Realm Reborn.
Meanwhile, Fyrgeiss' bio mentions only that he has three Hellsguard sons with ancient Roegadyn names.
The Encyclopædia Eorzea also mentions the "sons of Amajina & Sons" thing, but also says that Amajina was a tavern proprietress who founded Amajina & Sons 150 years ago ... So how recently was "& Sons" added? Was it really for the twins?
One possibility - a shot from the hip guess - when ARR introduced a new MIN guildmaster, did the old guildmaster, the Lalafells' father, husband of Shalala, fade into oblivion while his children were mistakenly reassigned as children of Fyrgeiss? I harbor some suspicion that this was actually a Lalafell named Checheroya, seen but once in the quest Court in the Sands, assuring ALC guildmaster Faustigeant that "his boys" were looking into an accident at the mines.
Something feels wrong, at any rate. -

The Hyur entry on page 80 states "The Hyur arrived in Eorzea prior to the First Astral Era...three great migratory waves later..." and not only would that put them with the unnamed race in the time after the Calamity of Wind, it would effectively make them the oldest race in Hydaelyn, although the book implies that concept lies with the Auri.
The timeline for the Sixth Astral Era states that's the time the Hyur had their migrations, so, wanted to let readers know there's a potential confusion in terms, and that the Hyur page is meant to be about the Seventh Astral Era instead of the First.

In the short story, What Remains of a Knight, Charibert is given the name Charibert (de) Courcillain (Courcillaint?), but it appears in the lorebook that the last name either belongs to or was stolen by Janlenoux, the eleventh knight while Charibert's last name changed to Lieusignac. Who has the right of it? -
