Shows the same girl in the trailer, using a different weapon; 100% no monk, but maybe a dps dancer. There's also a falcon on top of someone; may be hinting on a beastmaster class. Just speculating on the 2nd one.

Looks like the hunting hawk I cannot find in diadem
well i heard it takes a year to make a new job, how many years have they had to make new jobs?
You just know they started on samurai back during 2014. It may have eventually become DRK, but the groundwork was there. I don't think they'd be so keen to throw that away.
Still a monk. Here's a few examples:

Try again.
About that

Also alamhigo is known for its monks.
Also this isn't dancing

You realize that saying "It definitely is" or "It definitely isn't" one way or the other is just going to make someone look like a pig-headed douche in the end, right?
Just stick to speculation and say why you think it is or why you think it isn't.
Calm yourself. It's just a game lol
The girl I circled in the logo looks more like a dancer, to me.

I wouldn't read anything into that though, as the logo artwork is done by Yoshitaka Amano and as part of his signature art style is that he likes to include embellishments in his art like that (with strange creatures and animals hovering around the main characters which have zero connection to them). It's most likely just for artistic effect and is not 'proof' of a new Job.
But then I've been proven wrong before!
I'd love Dancer.
Merlwyb, dual wields pistols. Raubhan used to dual wield swords. Some of the yellow jackets and sky pirates dual wield a sword and a pistol. Thancred, currently dual wields a sword and a dagger. NPCs aren't bound by the same rules of 'what can we equip.' If they want this 'mystery' monk to use a single bladed gauntlet, then they'll do it.
What if, just what IF the new MNK skills are dance related, to blend the 2 classes together like BRD and ARC?
possible, a revamped cross class system for roles could very well let us customize to some degree.
About the unique weapon thing, i mean i feel like its going to eventually become hard to make new jobs based on weapons, and not give jobs a choice, another means of customizing thats held back by the current system, if it makes sense{its also very unlike a FF game to have jobs only use 1 weapon type only)
Yeah and they don't go by any specific jobs. Haha someone in the thread swears she is a MONK..she cannot be a monk if she does not wield the mnk weapon..if she is one of the unique npc's then she would also not have any given job just like the ones you mentioned..so ty for making my point more clear lol I didn't have time to type all that up earlier <3
How can we tell what jobs the NPC's are..does it say it somewhere, or sometime in the story? Afaik it never did nor is there a way to tell what job/class these special NPC's are.
edit: and then the real question is..if you insist they do have jobs, then what is Minfila? Also a mnk cuz she has no weapon? LOL They hinted at Thancred as a preview for NIN...but that's all I can remember...hahaha
Yda is a pugilist, she's been referred to as that in the story.
Papalymo is referred to as a thaumaturge.
Thancred first calls himself a bard. Even though he, up to 2.2 quite obviously used gladiator skills, now he's been called a rogue and looks like one when he draws his weapons.
Y'shtola has been referred to as a Conjurer, though she's quite often uses Collective Unconscious, which is an AST skill.
Milfilia had a single dagger, though she was never shown in combat so it's likely that she had no 'battle' class/job.
Urianger is an arcanist, however he wields a staff which is not possible by player arcanists, (though in the 3.4 story during his costume change he uses a book).
Alphinaud is an Arcanist, and as such wields a book and summon carbuncles of different colors.
Raubhan is a gladiator, and as I said in my post, used to dual wield swords. Though player gladiators are relegated to a single sword and shield.
That's just the scions and Raubhan. Most have classes, and use skills/weapons outside of what a player character can. So, by looking at the teaser trailer, with the fact that this mystery girl meets the WoL who has 100% been confirmed to be a monk with nearly the same fighting style, one can safely assume that she is a monk or a pugilist. NOT a dancer.
If it's revealed later that she is one, it'll be a first. Because up to this point, they have not showcased a single new job in any trailer. Plus, if dancer was the case, wouldn't have been more wise for Yoshi-P to have worn say a "Dance dance revolution" shirt instead of scarlet witch if they wanted to hint at that job?
Instead, they gave us a taste of the expansion, Ala Mhigo, the hand of Rhalgr (and the new hub) and two sparing monks. People are really grasping at straws and doing mental gymnastics to force a narative that isn't there. If Dancer is a job that we get with Stormblood, great! However, at this time there is absolutely nothing that we've been shown that even hints at it.
I'm surprised no one has asked the real question about the logo. What the heck is up with the dude on that pole next to derplander <_<
Ya I'm thinking dancer too.. Here to hopeing we get DNC!
It's amazing how so many people want dancer to be a copy/paste of monk. Two martial artist classes using virtually the same moves? Come on now, we all know that if dancer does exist, it'll be better than simply copying another class...
The way people are over-analyzing this trailer, trying to grasp at a new class is ridiculous. As I've said before in a different thread, why would Yoshi show a trailer with this supposed new class, and then say he has no classes to show? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Well we can always speculate that the girl in red IS a monk who's style is close to dancer because of them being in the same area and being kind of 2 schools of mighan martial art.
So she is a monk but may know some dancer who could train us.
Didn't they say it was 2 monks after the keynotes
in the video she don't use this, she is a dagger rope, what is totally different as type of weapon.... yoshida have said, no new weapon type for a jobs. means she is not a monk! she have her own jobs, what it will be we can speculate, but she is obviously not a monk. is not because she fight as a martial artist that she is one. another point, if they are both monk, why she have a moveset different? man = karaté, girl = kung fu.
a few stuff yoshida have confirmed that will never happend:
- no multiple weapon per jobs
- no different moveset depending of the sex or race (the moveset is define by the jobs)
- no treeskill, means you have no way to have two monk with 2 different skillset too.
they are absolute info from yoshida about what will be the jobs ingame. the red girl is not a monk, she use different weapon, she use different skill and she use different moveset.... then impossible in FF14. you can argue that older monk in FF4 or FF6 was looking similar, but we are in FF14 and we already have what define a monk in this final fantasy!
ohhh about featherfeet, it's a cross class skill.... the charge? the drk do have charge, do that make him a monk? when you create a class that will go by kicking like she seems to be. you will still have some skill that are basic between fighter.
finally i don't see the point to show us 2 monk fighting while showing 2 different style, since ingame we will always all have the same style. why? because creating another specialization for monk, means do it for every jobs.... it's too big as work and will never happend, they prefer work on new jobs.
oh by the way, yoshida have said, that instead to add another weapon type to a jobs, he prefer add a jobs that use this weapon type.
ps: i'm a monk since V1 i wish to get more skill and such, but... i can recognize what is a monk of what is not. 10 level means 5 skill, is not enough for make us change that much, worst, why the WoL will not have used this new skill, if they are new skill.
Everyone talk about a dagger hidden in her robe, I'm sorry I might be blind but I don't see that dagger anywhere ^^"
Plus, didn't they confirm during the key note that this was 2 monk ?
i was looking the stream, in the keynote, yoshida did confirm that the wol will be monk for this expansion, nothing else.
and we call it a dagger rope, is more look the clothe at the end she have a small dart attached to it. and use it in a few attack as a weapon...
First and foremost: That is not a dagger. It's a weighted piece of fabric. Secondly, She is using MONK/PUGILIST skills. Right after she atempts a kick and he blocks it, they bow and assume the exact same beginning pose. A DANCER wouldn't do that. Here's the break down of the fight:
1. After the supposed 'new weapon attack' she does tornado kick.
2. The WoL uses shoulder tackle, she blocks, jumps back, featherfoots, then shoulder tackles back.
3. She blocks, (one handed I might add) his forbidden chakra.
4. They block blow for blow, each punch and kick.
5. WoL does fist of fire, then she does fist of wind
6. Then in a cinematic flourish they dive at one another and the scene enters bullet time.
You absolutely cannot deny that. If you want to claim that because she flings a part of her outfit at him that it's a 'new' and 'confirmed' weapon type.. then How about these examples?
The WoL isn't using a weapon at all, the Bare/Freelancer job is confirmed!
The random guy is loading a cannon (and if you recall, they were using cannons in the heavensward cinematic), Cannoneer job double confirmed!
There were Garlean's using Gunblades in the End of an Era Trailer (they shoot the WoL), Magitek Knight job confirmed!
Rauhban used to dual wield swords, Berserker confirmed!
Merlwyb uses twin pistols, Musketeer confirmed!
Some of the Yellowjackets and Skypirates duel wield a sword and a pistol, Corsair confirmed!
Are those jobs in the game? Nope.. Have they ever been hinted at as being even in the works? Nope.. This girl is NOT a dancer. She is a Monk or a Pugilist.
Disregarding that she uses some of the exact same moves that are showcased in earlier final fantasy games cinematics by monks is folly. Plus, this entire thread was about the stormblood logo and the fact the the girl is wearing a single bladed gauntlet. Those gauntlets, or something similiar are already in game, and with what I listed, it shows that Special characters aren't restricted the same way we are with what we can and cannot equip.
