Bard is usually one of the weakest dps because of songs/support etc, but that 10% (or 20% with Battle Voice) extra damage for mages wouldn't exist without a bard in a party. So shouldn't bard's numbers techinically be split between him and mages, making his numbers *not* so low and possibly on par with other dps?

I assume you mean in the context of you are being parsed by your static and they're telling you your dps is low.
Yes Foe requiem is a contribution, no it's not going to suddenly make you on par with other dps.
Putting on foe doesn't stop you doing personal dps and isn't an excuse to do less yourself. BRD and MCH can put out respectable numbers, it may be slightly lower but not by much, 100-200 dps behind NIN/DRG tops.
Foe is no bigger contribution than the DRG disembowel or the MCH hypercharge or the NIN trick attack so if you're doing low dps don't use that as an excuse, you need to work on your gear or rotation. Try training on stone sky sea dummies to improve. -

I dont really think its needed. In the grand scheme of thing.. if your raid group is that into studying parsers.. they should also know when you use your songs, and take that into account, because in the grand scheme of things.. DPS is key.. but support is too. So if they aren't noticing you support them.. you should find a new group. -

Support DD have it different than other DD jobs.
For example, DRG/MNK/SMN/BLM just need to memories their opener and basic rotation. Once they are in, they just have to avoid AoE and not die.
MCH, BRD and NIN need to know when to use their CDs and oGCDs and this comes with trial and error in the fight it self. Like when to use trick attack, when to apply wildfire etc.
What I mean by this if you get a support DD who doesn't use their brain, then it is natural to see them falling way behind the other DD. -

No. They should just make so that it buffs the damage of the whole party (except the Bard) or just the AOE actions, which would be way more useful, IMO.

Bard already has a decent damage output... with Disembowel, you can even compete with most of other classes on equal skill level.
As mentioned before, singing Foe's Requiem is hardly any different from a DRG maintainig Disembowel, War maintaining Storm's Eye or a Nin apllying Trick Attack whenever possible. While your magic damage dealers are surely happy for the damage buff, their damage is still not "yours".
In fact, if Foe damage was added to the Bard's damage, any parses we have would be highly reliant on what your mages can do, and thus bard parses would be highly inconsistent. Unless there was an option to toggle off Foe's from the parse, which would be obligatory in any serious context and we're back where we started off. So why even bother? -

just assume thats all your dps, like nin can assume TA bonus is their dps, the real important thing in a nutshell is how fast that bosses hp bar melts. Things like foes and ta are factored in for job balance, and as people said a smelting pro bard will deal some sick dps, a smelting any dps thats skilled will deal good dps in general. Parsers prove very little when it comes to circumstances, so stop worrying so much about personal numbers. Also damage per second is tricky. I love BLM because i can see whenever my spells hit significantly enough, but per second, it isnt as great as the boss bar makes it look like in reality, its just that blm hits hard very hard, fast, not so much.

Well, foe requiem is part of the brd utility toolkit and as such it's certainly taken into account when evaluating tha job as a whole. The problem is that understanding by how much you're boosting your caster's dps may be quite hard. The same argument applies for nin's trick attack or mch's hypercharge. At the end of the day, what you really need to look at is how you are doing in raw dps numbers when compared with other players using the same job since you can assume that other bards are using their foe requiem more or less efficiently.

No, parsing is to show you how your group is doing. If you're "competing" with your fellow dps, just don't Foes for the epeen stroke I guess? You probably should just try harder. -
