Yoshida has stated before it takes 6 months to design and implement gear into the game. Why exactly are we wasting dev time on this?
For the same reason that they "wasted" 6 months to design and implement the female version
For the same reason that they are "wasting" 6 months to implement the Edda outfits for females
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
People want it, Papa Yoshi is gonna give it to us.
I would prefer that the dev team make lasting sustainable content first, then worry about making nice looking optional gear.
Thing is glamour items are a big thing to a lot of people hence why we get alot.
I feel like you've covered a lot of ground here today, but all I heard was we're getting Edda's dress.
And other people, a large enough number to get development attention, would like a bunny outfit to wear around. Male characters tend to get less unique glamors as it is. More often than not, our gear ends up being unisex or gets converted to be femalefriendly . It's kinda nice to see it going in the other direction for once.
Square Enix naturally plans content as it is. They're not suddenly losing developers who'd be working on a raid or dungeons to make glamor items.
I don't remember Savage Coil dropping any special gear. Alexander still gets unique gear. Same amount of time spent. And look how long it took to be able to dye coil gear?
This is true, savage second coil didn't drop anything other than the original high allagan stuff. Savage coil was a test run for the devs, and he said that we was not going to release anything other than titles for it. Getting a dyeable version of a set is not unique from its normal mode brother. We also get the same amount of content each patch with one less dungeon... weird huh.
Obviously it's being implemented because enough people were asking for it. I think it's great. :)
Not every piece of content that they add is going to be for "everyone"... I personally have no use for it, but I think it's only fair that the boys get one too.
is it weird that I see zero people wearing the actual bunny "suit" and only just using the ears yet theres tons of demand for getting the stupid suit for dudes
only thought is wtf ಠ_ಠ
A raid cycle lasts for 6 months and then is made entirely redundant for progression in the next patch. Bunny suits can be glamoured forever and not have to be replaced. You tell me what is more sustainable.
That's odd. I see people in the shoes and leggings all the time, as well as the ears. They make nice bits to mix for glamour. Plus, those high heels are easier to get with MGP than the ones with gil.
To answer the OP, it was player demand. Guys have a painful lack of vanity gear and overtly sexy gear options. Even if it's meant as a joke.
So, people asked for the bunny suit to be adapted for the guys.
Devs responded that they'd put a few lady designers on it (to get the proper level of "alluring" details) and that it takes about 6 months for designed gear to hit the public.
That doesn't mean it takes six months to make, lol.
For as few people who raid, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find people who agree with you there. It's fine to talk about opinions and all but this usually tends to completely ignore any idea of consensus, and additionally not all opinions are equal. It's fairly easy to see how you could consider glamour to not be meaningful content, but the logic stretch to consider raiding not content is a long shot. I assume you consider dungeons, primals, and so on not content?
On an iPad, so hard to link it. It's in there just control f for Edda

I can ask the same as to why they keep adding PVP content? I don't like it so why should they add it????
Anyway I can't wait for the male bunny suit.
People keep posting the same argument that battle content =! glamour content.
I'd also like to point out that I am in no way asking for more raid content or anything of the sort. I'm asking SE to consider how they are dispersing their development team. The amount of time poured into the infamous bunny suit for males could have been used to develop a unique set for alexander normal. The unique opinion of a small portion of people on the forums do not reflect the entirety of the game's population, just like my opinion doesn't either.
You keep saying glamour affects battle content, but what you mean to say is "appearance of gear is being affected because of the bunny suit development". You could have said that and avoided a lot of confusion.
Why does it matter WHERE we get the new gear option from? You keep saying they should develop unique gear for Alexander savage, but fail to see how that doesnt really compare since this is ONE outfit (that you, as a female character, already got btw...) and raid-gear would be 5 or 6 different sets.
So, yes, we can talk about the bunny outfits for males: we can celebrate that they're finally getting one! And that SE listend to the complains about how its unfair that female characters get a lot more options than males.
Please, dont use "they could have used this time to develop something else" excuse - its pretty lame, seeing how we are actually getting a lot of new content and considering that developing one gearset isnt really preventing them from doing something thats essintial to the game. I assure you: This bunny suit isnt the reason you dont get unique gear from your raids... so stop pretending thats the case...
Yeah the problem with this kind of logic is two-fold.
1. MMOs by their nature of incoming and outgoing content routed to hurndreds/thousands/millions of players can never be perfect. The sheer amounts of code as well as physical machinery involved, not to mention human error means these things can never be perfect and always has problems. Balancing one thing tips the scale on another. If we had to wait for a stable game and "sustainable content" (whatever that means) before the DEVs were allowed to do flavor fluff, we would never get the fluff. And since dirty casuals out number content juckies by a large margin, the population would be all but nonexistent and an unsupported game makes no money and folds. You would never get to the fabled perfect game. Subs keep the lights on pay for simple content and raids, glamours pay for pretty raids and trials.
2. Its self centered to make a sweeping statement that the game "doesn't need XYZ" just because you don't use the feature as much as others. I work a full time job and have a full time life. TBH I don't raid at all but I like to collect minions, but I would never assume to be more important then another player and say things like "I would prefer that the devs filled the various glam and minion/mount requests that have been up for years.... and THEN make the new raid." That would be stupid and selfish of me. Its an MMO, you're not the only one here. We all share the space, that means we have to consider what others want too.
If I had to guess, SE has it in their right mind to know who to assign to make which piece of glamour/outfits.
They're obviously not going to have their entire clothing team work on one set of gear, and then release 10 sets of gear in the next patch...
If there is demand - which there is - there will be a supply, it's just that simple.
You seem to believe that there is an issue where if the dev team decides to work on something other than what you want, it contributes to the issue of not getting what you want. This is not the case, it's never the case. This is a lack of creativity from the clothing dev team, not because a few people from the clothing dev team are working on a bunny suit for males...
I actually dont believe it does - you see, the art-team tries to capture a certain style that fits the dungeon/raid each time or at least follows a specific concept for the dungeon/raid. Seeing how a lot of gear in this game looks alike already because we've got the same people with the same artstyles working on it, I suppose it would be rather difficult for them to come up with double the amount of gear that looks like it belongs to Alexander.
They also seem to have made the CHOICE to handle gear from raids this way - the bunny suit has nothing to do with this...
(Question btw: Would you be happy with the bunny suits dropping as gear from the new Alexander-raid? I actually dont understand why you're upset about this - because you dont get some super-duper-special gear from your raids to wear and show off when males are finally getting their share of the sexy bunny-life? Are you also mad about the new hairstyles they're adding? Wanna talk about them?)
Dear lord, by 6 months of work, you don't honestly believe that they have a dedicated team who spend their entire six months on an outfit, do you? From concept art, to modeling, to texturing, to QA, there's a lot of different departments it has to go through. I'm also willing to bet they're done in batches so a whole bunch of stuff is drawn up at once, so even though the work takes over six months to form a complete product, it also comes with a dozen other 6 month projects.
This. Also, the fact that this takes time is why Yoshi P asked us which specific outfits we wanted, and this outfit was heavily requested. I want unique savage gear too, but this outfit was requested far more than savage gear, so this takes priority (Eddas gear was also heavily requested much to my displeasure).
Didn't they also make two versions of the 'Playboy suit' for females? Where was OP when they made the first two (I'd mention the other Gold Saucer gear, but NPCs had been wearing them for months before then)?
One less dungeon for Diadem and Palace of the Dead. While 3.2 did lack a new 'end game' thing, there was still Midas Savage. 3.4 on the other hand, that has Savage and eventually 150 floors added to the Palace of the Dead (so that's what... at least three dungeons within a dungeon?). The gear design team is also bigger than the battle design team, which consists of... I think 5 groups? someone posted a picture of the groups on Reddit, but I can't find it. I just recall that Team A made Leviathan and Sophia, Team B made Titan and Sephirot (and Second-Final Coil?) and C, D and Alpha I don't recall :(
