Possible Display of Minions in Dungeons

During the 2.0 beta (maybe it was the alpha...), we were able to bring minions into dungeons with us. Though it had problems, I miss this feature, and would like it back, if at all possible!

If enough support for the suggestion is garnered, I hope the DEV time will look into it (presuming they see this, of course).

In order for this to work, though, minions in dungeons would need to be unclickable, just kind of there for the fun of it. I would also only want this to happen if the option to turn off display of minions was added. Such as, "display only your minion", "display only your party's minions", or "display all", you know, for people who either find the addition too annoying or whose console/computer would explode from the minions being there.

Would anyone else like this? :)

What problems? I never played the beta or alpha so I don't know: I just can't seem to see a problem, except the technical ones (missing data, not enough server power...you know, the usual ones that are overused).
My guess is that the game is struggling on data and power that minions would be another power sponge or something?

As far I remember, this "feature" got removed around the implementation of the duty finder. In Beta 2 and (I think) early Beta 3 it was still possible.

From what I remember (it would have been no earlier than phase 1 of the Beta as the Alpha did not feature minions) it was because players found it annoying to tab target when minions were out in dungeons, with clusters of minions all close together made targeting frustrating as anything, especially for healers. Accordingly Beta testers asked SE to remove the ability to call minions in dungeons, and SE agreed. Hence I don't see SE restoring minions again to dungeons or trials I'm sorry to say.

That...seems a bit overkill for a simple thing issue that could be easily solved by not allowing tab targetting on minions (just like the OP said and pretty much any mmorpg on the planet does).
It's like killing a patient because his legs were broken....who does that? xD

Not to go against the suggestion but if the (only) reason for this is to let one 'show-off' their rarest/expensive minion to 3/7 other players they meet in dungeon to expect everyone to be envious or any other reaction, I don't think there's really a need to bring the feature back again.

I actually would rather have my Chocobo in there, but I do love me some minions. I would love to have them in there since I have millions of minions in my Pokéball!

As far as showing off goes, everyone shows off, whether it's glamour, stats, mounts or minions. There is nothing wrong with that. We did the work to get it. We get to show what we got for it. Envy is for the weak minded.

That's a fair point, and really if this were possible, that would probably happen. That is, a player attempting to make others envious or feeling inferior. The affected players then feeling envious or inferior due to the attempt...would be a tad silly, though.

I personally wanted it because I often forget about my minions and I think it is cute to have a mini-friend to cart around with you, though it quickly gets annoying to have to resummon it over the slightest thing (exaggeration). I just thought it would help to remind myself to appreciate my minions.

I often feel uncomfortable pulling out a rare minion, when I have one, because I don\\'t like to show off. I\\'m the same with mounts. That being said, I try to remind myself that if I truly like the minion/mount, then I shouldn\\\\'t stop myself from making use of them because someone somewhere might think me a show-off.

Ah, yes, and Volty, it was indeed as Enkidoh said. Your analogy is pretty on point too, ha ha!

Even if we could not target them, whenever people called their Black Coeurl minion in the Arm of the Son, that would be a small pain just to check if the roaming cat is a PC's minion or the boss's minion.

It would be enough, if the minion could be automatically resummoned after leaving an instance.

So many wasted Fates till I noticed, the Yokai minion was not on my side.

They are already. When I have a minion out and come out of a dungeon they are still out.

I guess that's fine for roleplay or something similar but if the dev are ok with this anyway, I think the option should only be limited to the ones that can attach up to your head/shoulder and stays there for the entire dungeon. Any other minion that only runs on the ground would only add unnecessary clutter/confusion to the combat ground eventhough made unclickable.

Would be cool if minions gave small buffs like more Gil drop or magic DEF during dungeons.

Really not a big deal either way. Not exactly a high priority thing compared to other changes like QoL improvements involving the Chocobo companion... hell, minion + companion would be a bigger deal, IMO. If dungeon clutter by up to 4 minions (assuming raids not be allowable due to numbers for whatever reason) is a big negative to someone, not sure how they endure 8-man content... or Hunts, if they do it. Personally, I bring out minions in general (most of the time) for my own entertainment. It's why I had stuff like the Cinder Kitten and Molten Corgi out a lot in WoW. What's not to love about this little bit of reality dog owners tend to have?

Really confusing if someone has a minion that is a mini or like size version of an enemy especially since you can target minions. Much rather have my chocobo in dungeons before this is implemented

It was in the Beta up through phase 3. It was removed in phase 4. The reason for this has actually nothing to do with play-ability and everything to do with the fact that dungeons are hosted on an Instance Server rather than the Character's home server since the Duty-Finder is Datacenter wide. In order to speed the entry of users into dungeons, SE had to trim down the amount of information they needed to transfer from the character's home server to the instance server, so they chose only the important bits to transfer. Most people at this point have at least a hundred, if not more, minions. By cutting information like this out, as well as things like Friends lists, blacklists and FC affiliations they can shorten the amount of time it takes for you to transfer into the Instance server and load up the dungeon.

Huh, never knew that. It would explain why stuff like FC tags and GC ranks are not shown during instances.
