So, second time today during my leveling system, people are abandoning, and it's gotten me very frustrated. I know people are not fond of the idea of increasing the abandon penalty (I would personally implement no bonuses or a 3 hour reque cool down). So then you ask people in your FC to join in progress, but of course, everyone's busy so you're just sitting on your ass waiting for some random person to maybe que in progress.
What I want to suggest is a system that sends out a page to anyone who wants to put themselves on call to join in progress. For helping, they could get an exp bonus or a tome bonus or something. I think this system would greatly decrease the wait time for someone waiting to replenish members.

Make the duty finder list display next to each duty if there is a party that needs a replacement and show the icons of what roles are needed to fill that party. Then offer tome or gil bonus for whoever fills the need when the duty is completed.

I have to say the most annoying thing is when a FC member asks for someone to join them, you que up and end up in the wrong party's dungeon. Correct dungeon, wrong group. Horrible. That could be something to add in if what the OP suggested ever came to be.

When you yourself are waiting on a Duty, the simple toggle of "in progress" "beeps" you towards any open slots that may be around for a Duty already in progress of you to join, so that's a 1-1 ratio.
Think of it like this currently as a player when you are in DF waiting you are sending out a y/n signal to the queue y=in progress n=not, that single ping just adds more searches to your queue for Duty.
With your idea however you are now attempting to ping that information to the difference servers which is a lot more information to send compared to one person sending a single y/n signal if they want to do in progress or not. The current setup is basically two list One list sets people who want to do in progress, the other sets people who don't want to do in progress.
So now it's a bit like ping pong, info is sent outward, but how do you fairly send out that info before someone snatches it? So now you have 11 pings from one duty being sent out to players looking for a duty but see it becomes a bit exponential because the information is hitting those 11 servers and then expanding to X amount of characters only for 1 to respond to the call.
The other fallout is of course people could exploit it, make cheap excuses to boot someone just to get their friends to join in on the run, anything with a risk of hassle like that definitely isn't worth implementing. It's better to just keep the system as is or the only alternative I can think is just creating a new Duty called "In Progress" that just queues you into any in progress runs that may be going on to help anyone in need. That's the only fair way I could think of implementing a system in which someone might want to help someone in need and not know about it. -
