I know a lot of people wish that the horns were a separate choice from the Aura race...
As a Miqo'te, I really want more tail options. Right now, my tail is the two toned one. But what I really want is a tabby-cat stripey tail.

while they are at it , they could also make our ears wiggle a bit while running and fighting , they seem so stiff all the time :(
I always wanted Mi'qote to get different ear styles, such as a foward, upright option, or something akin to Scottish Folds. I like the tabby tail idea, it would be adorable. :D
Actually, in every new race theorizing thread I've see, there are always a set of us who would be as content, if not moreso, to see current races gain expanded options instead of an entirely new race, so who knows!
Hear, Hear!
Expanded creation options would be lovely for the next expansion. Maybe two new faces for everyone but midlanders (they have six faces already), and maybe not for Auri (but give them the ability to switch horns, as well as add two new ones).
Of course, ideally I'd like for EVERYONE to get two new faces each, and more options, and more beards, (and a butt slider, and more bulge, but not a slider, on males), I just don't want the "but we just created Au Ra!" to be an excuse from expanding the other races, or "but midlanders already have enough faces!" as an excuse from expanding the other races, or "but a butt slider would take a long time!" as an excuse from expanding the other races, (and I doubt that any discussion about increasing the bulge a bit would even be acknowledged by the devs).
Ahem, all of that rambling aside, I hadn't yet heard the suggestion for a tabby/striped tail option until now, and I think it's a cute idea, and hope you get your wish!~
They should add more faces and clans.
I'd be happy if all hairstyles were available for everyone. That hair Khemo has is my favorite in the game, but it's for miqo only.
I recall some dev post stating there was a third clan possibly out there in the world, we just haven't come across them yet.
Don't remember if this was specifically in regards to the Au Ra or for all spoken races. I checked real quick but couldn't find the post I'm remembering.
But hey, there's a possibility new clans will be an option!
As for me, I just wanna see the 1.0 butts back.
I will say this to the end of time.
It won't really happen until they drop ps3 support.
There are so many things they can do for character creator so we can create real, unique (or feel like) characters.
American-curl ears would be so adorable! I actually thought about ear options too, but it was in a future instalment.
Oh, like tiger stripes and leopard spots with more muscular builds? I think it's actually surprising that we're not allowed to style our tails at the aesthetician now that I think about it...
It makes much more sense to update the current playable races instead of adding a completely new race. We can get more in the future, of course, but right now I feel like the game would be served very well by ensuring that more people can design a character to their personal tastes. More base faces would be a great start...as would a proper eyebrow option for Highlander men (as well as some 'younger' and 'classically handsome' looking facial options.
The models for Miqo'te girls (playable boys didn't yet exist) had more pear shaped figure, with bigger butts, hips, and thighs. It wasn't a giant difference, but it was quickly obvious that the new models in 2.0 and beyond's new graphics engine were thinner.
Some players prefer their new body, others want the old one back, thus the request for a slider on par with the chest ones.
I kinda wish our tails were more....animated. It feels weird not seeing them do much, they barely move while standing still.
Emotes have them moving of course, but other than that, they are rather lifeless. Maybe it's just me since mine is the smallest size xD
Ok, I did some google images, and I see what you guys are talking about. I guess I don't have a preference since this is the body I've always had, and not sure if this applies to just the Miqo'te race, but a butt scale along with breasts would be welcome. If it is any consolation, try the Holy Rainbow Shirt of Healing. It covers your bum, but the animation when you walk about makes you look like you're packing some serious junk in the trunk. At least on Midlanders it does. :p
i would like more hairstyles that are crossable between races, i get the aura get the spiky look, but those horns turn me off, would be nice to pass a few hairstyles alone between all the races, if that means not getting a new race, i would be down for that as well given the choice
I believe this is the thread made way back when about the 'issue'...

I just want a notched ear for my Male Miqo'te =\
I agree with pretty much everything here. More faces and more shared hairstyles would be very welcome.
I would also like to see more face paint options, as those received updates only sparingly in the past (I'm sure they could come up with new cool facial tattoos or additional "make-up" options). Perhaps they could even make some of these race exclusive tattoo options (i.e.: if they were to give Miqo'te stripped or spotted tails, perhaps they could add facial tattoos that give the face a matching look).
I think Miqo'te getting a really thick tail (think snow leopard tail) or a really fluffy tail (like a maine coon or persian) would be fun. :)
It would be pretty easy for them (I should think) to at least have some of the current in-game hairstyles shared among races. I'd love to see some of the femroe exclusive hairstyles on my Miqo'te.
And definitely let Au Ra horns be interchangeable.
There is this nice bun hairstyle exclusive to Midlander girls that's been one of my favorite styles, and it's been in game since 1.0.
I keep hoping we get a bun with the new haircuts for all girls, but no. I just want to pull my hair out of my face sometimes, thank you.
I was more than a little disappointed when I was making my Elezen and saw 4 identical hair styles with only the color of the barettes different. Like.... really?
How about we get our 1.0 butt back >.>
They should. The standards for character creations nowadays are far higher than the really cheap customization FFXIV brings us. Instead of giving us 12 different voice options for each race they could've given us more body sliders. We shouldn't even ask for 1.0 butt, we should expect having a butt slider, and sliders for different body features too such as leg thickness, waist, etc... It's the bare minimum. Or atleast different body shape options ala Guild Wars 2 (let's say the one we currently have would be the standard body type, then we'd have an even skinnier body type, then a curvier sexy body type, and a chubby body type, with only 3 more models you'd satisfy a lot more people) if they're too lazy to make sliders.
I really hope that when they drop the PS3 support we'll get an improved character creation with a lot more features. I'd be really disappointed if they don't give us that, considering that a ton of free to play games have a crapton of sliders and a very complete character creation while being actually older than FFXIV and also having way better hair physics.
As far as hairstyles go, I definitely wish more were available across all races and tribes with the current selection. I've had my eye on a certain ponytail hairstyle available only to Highlander females. As far as new ones go, I would really like more updos, and ones that are a little more sophisticated that express a lot of volume like Kan E Senna's.
I know we don't post a lot of pics like this here, but I would seriously LOVE this for my character, or styles like it:

I think it mostly has to do with how much gear they include with every 2 patches. 7 sets for Tomestones, 7 sets for raids, 28 sets for dungeons, 7 crated sets, 7 sets for 24 man is 56 total sets. 6 races takes it to 336 sets, add in 2 genders and you have 668 unique pieces of gear, not including glamour. That is a ton for a 7 month period. They took the approach of quantity over quality.
Many of us have disagreed with this design philosophy but I will agree with you. I don't see them changing back to quality over quantity.
Keepers Of The Moon are already complete. They do not need more options.
Keepers are supreme.

More hairstyles, and more face options. Def unlock Au Ra faces.
I'd also like to see more facial scar and tattoo options that aren't race-locked.
I want to be able to get my highland's ponytail on my Au Ra. I miss that hair style so much. ya know, the one with the ringlets and hair over one eye?
this really triggered me. ps3 limitiations? you know i have to admit back in my teen years sporting a ps1 there were WRESTLING games out there with much more customization and sliders available, and this is just 1 form of game on a lower level than even ps3 limitiations that allowed this stuff...but that was back in the day, with 1mb memory cards, im sure that the the mb required would just explode the servers now,i mean theyre right, its just too much. ps3 limitations, anything really, as if a ps3 cant handle thigh thickness or whatnot....
I don't think body sliders are a PS3 limitation. I think it's more of a "gear creation limitation." The more variety you allow players on their characters, the more "hooks" you need to apply to your gear to ensure there's no clipping. Wildstar has a fantastic character creation, very detailed. It also resulted in a certain pair of pants on a certain of my characters to look like a thong, as my ass cheeks clipped through them just right. It was amusing, but quite embarrassing too! The game you mentioned is not a game that comes with lots of variety of gear. They all wear a certain outfit and don't change. So of course you can have more customization.
I'm not excusing SE. Their character creation is very archaic. There needs to be way more face options, and more variety in hair styles (no race should be subjected to 4 identical hair styles with different color barrettes like I mentioned above), and different builds. I don't necessarily think every inch of my body should have a slider, but I do think that not EVERY Elezen should have identical bodies with only different size boobs.
I am happy with my character and don't really see myself changing her much.
More hair styles would be interesting..especially the female one that actually won...the high braid pony tail -_- It would be amazing if we could have our 1.0 bodies back...I must admit lol.

Honestly, I would not mind if they didn't add a new race in 4.0 only if they greatly expanded the custom options for the existing races. As it stands now there are tons of clones running around with some races have that one-face syndrome.
(I'm looking at you female Au Ra Face 1)
Lalafell have a set a pigtails with ribbons that do the same thing, and the old Y'shtola hair had a silver and gold clip version.
It's actually a leftover from 1.0. There were only 4 haircuts per race and gender, so they had an option to change clip or ribbon color. 2.0's designers just opted to list them as separate styles, since that's probably how they were programmed in, anyway.
Is it me or the whole graphic quality was way better in 1.0 ? I didn't play 1.0 but everytime I see pictures of it I find it way more beautiful than what the game looks like now.
A little example that I found on Google by just typing FFXIV 1.0 :
https://public-ch3302.files.1drv.com...drts=147369330
The lighting seems better, the shadows look better, the hair looks like actual hair, the textures seem to look better too. Looks like an upgraded version of what we have here. Wtf happened ?
You're not losing your mind. 1.0 WAS better.
But it was too much, it was so much to render and load at once. That doesn't sound bad, but the optimization and coding in 1.0 was trash.
This meant only beefy PCs at the time could run the game, and even they had bizarre hiccups. The joke that a flowerpot in 1.0 had as much detail and pixels as your avatar wasn't too far from the truth, and the open world was a barren wasteland of highly textured ground. :/
This version couldn't scale to PS3, let alone less than high-grade PCs, and SE had promised/contracted from day 1 to put XIV on the platform.
Thus, one of the first orders of business for 2.0 was to create a new graphics engine that could be scaled down to function on PS3, while simultaneously filling the world with detail.
The issue now is gaming has graphically gotten past 1.0, let along 2.0, and PS4 and current PCs could pull off the higher detail.
/shrug
1.0 did not run very well on low end computers and I don't think it would ever have run on the PS3. So they dropped the polygon count on everything, made low Res textures, changed lighting and other things and launched it as the new and improved version of the game.
In some ways. 2.0 was better than 1.0, in others, 1.0 was better.
