Question about Mentor requirements

Hi there!

I'm currently trying to apply to become a Mentor, and I'm a little confused exactly what specific requirements are needed. I have a 60 WVR and BTN so I know those are not the issue. My question is that if the 300 gathering collectibles and 100 crafting collectibles are shared among their fellow classes. For instance I've got 55 unique collectibles on my ALC(51) and roughly 70 on WVR. Would that qualify got the synth 100 collectible requirement? Also for the 300 gathering requirement I have Miner(51) I have 91 collectibles, for BTN, 150, and FSH(40) I have 61.

From what I understand this particular set would suffice instead of doing the Disciples of war/magic set correct? As only one set is needed to be completed. I speak with the smith in The Drowning Wench and there is no option to becomes inducted into mentorhood. They only tell me the requirements on how to become one.

Any help and information is greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with the crafting side of it, you do not neet to do both the disciple of war/magic and the crafting one. It is one or the other. Here is the requirements from the wiki page http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Mentor_System

Requirements for Disciples of the Hand and Land
1. Players must obtain at least one of the following 8 achievements:

Achievement Requirements
Knock on Wood VI Achieve carpenter level 60.
Temper, Temper VI Achieve blacksmith level 60.
The Riddle of Steel VI Achieve armorer level 60.
Heart of Gold VI Achieve goldsmith level 60.
Tougher than Leather VI Achieve leatherworker level 60.
Smiling, Styling, and Textiling VI Achieve weaver level 60.
Tis True without Lying VI Achieve alchemist level 60.
All in Good Taste VI Achieve culinarian level 60.

2. Players must obtain at least one of the following 3 achievements:

Achievement Requirements
Breaking Rocks in the Hot Sun VI Achieve miner level 60.
Fear the Reaper VI Achieve botanist level 60.
Gone Fishin' VI Achieve fisher level 60.

3. Players must obtain the following achievement:

Achievement Requirements
I Made That (Worth Collecting) I Synthesize 100 collectables.

4. Players must obtain the following achievement:

Achievement Requirements
I Collected That I Gather or catch 300 collectables.

You forget you have always to do the Level 60 Quest for at least on DoW/DoM class/job

You mean I have to still do the job quest for a lvl 60 battle class? I did the quests for my btn and wvr all the way to 60, and I also did the same for my DRG. Would I have to do the same for a magic class then even though its for the land/hand set?

How did you manage to catch collectibles with a lvl 40 fisher? Might you be confusing some terms? Collectibles are items you gather with a Collector's Glove turned on and it is a lvl 50 skill.

do you really think you should become a mentor when you not even know how to become a mentor? .. or what collectables are...

If you've done the respective level 60 crafting/gathering job quests (to get the 60 achievements for those jobs) then you just need the collectable achievements:

I Made That (Worth Collecting) - 100 collectables
I Collected That - 300 collectables

You can view those achievements from the achivements list so you can check your progress. But as was pointed out above, you can't get collectables at 40 so you might not have what you think?

collectables =/= different items you gathered or crafted
collectables gathered/crafted within a special stance and are marked that they are collectables.
colectables are also only a level 50+ thing unlocked with level 55 iirc and a set point in story progression

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but i haven't gotten that achievement and still qualified for my Trade mentor.. I think point 3 and 4 is interchangeable since i've done #3.

As far as I know the individual mentor titles aren't actually linked to the how you unlocked Mentor. If you unlocked mentor at all then you get all the titles regardless of which you actually "qualify" for.

Yeah which seems a bit odd, like me getting a normal car licence that covers all types of vesicles :p

My UK car driving licence does just that :P It let's me drive cars, vans, mini buses, motorbikes (up to 50CC) and a few other things, but if I want to drive a lorry/truck, full size bus or a more powerful motorbike, separate licences are needed :)

Should have done the SE driving test, the licence they give you allows you to fly plains, helicopters, tanks and even sail boats.
