Can't enter Palace of Dead with penalty?

So this is what happened, I queue in progress for daily expert and get stuck in a Sohr Khai run that was with 3 minutes left, party became full when I joined and 2 out of the 3 were dead at the bottom of the map against Hraesvelgr, who wasn't even at 1%, not even 10%, but 32%. So I promptly leave and figure I'd go run though PotD solo, just to find out that it's also locked because I left Sohr.

Why is PotD on the same rule restrictions when it doesn't even follow the same format or requirements as a normal dungeon? They're two individual entities, we can't even queue for PotD through DF, so why, are standard DF rules in place for entering this content?

Because your queue prompt is what the penalty effects, which PotD still prompts despite you not going through the DF. Basically, the penalty is for anything you have to queue into.

POTD is still using the Que system that the DF uses. If you have a penalty you can't do POTD.

Because it's a punishment for leaving, it doesn't matter what content you're trying to queue for.

Here's how that logic doesn't work, everything in this game outside of fates and open world content is accessible through a queue. However, with a penalty, a player can still queue for a Chocobo race. This is queued instanced content as you can be matched with other players or end up against AI. There is really no excuse as to why a solo run of PotD should be impacted by content that requires 3-23 other players when it was built completely outside the fundamentals of DF based content.

PotD is DF and hence takes over the penalty even tho different requirements in party making. Also RF will lock u out I heard as it now uses DF settings (it didn't b4 RF was added so this is more a point to discuss imo).
Even undersizing locks you out as all that works via DF.

If it's only 3 minutes left just sit it out next time ^^

I don't disagree with current setting, but still want to clarify that PvP has it's own penalty timer.. so OP can queue PvP instead of POTD...^^;

As far as I know there's PvE lockout and PvP lockout which are seperate, so maybe someone has the PvP penalty.

The point isn't that I left!

It's this content shouldn't use DF rules because we don't queue through DF to start this content. Just like I said with Chocobo Races that still uses a queue, a 30 second timer and you get into a race, you have a penalty from DF, you still enter. Each category of content should come with it's own penalty, if I quit DF I get a 30 minute on dungeons, primals and raids, if quit PvP I should get a PvP lockout, if I quit PotD I get a PotD lock.

It's you that's completely missing the point.

Why should someone be inconvenienced and have to replace you in Duty Finder because you want to do PotD? It doesn't just affect you. Again, it's a punishment. You don't get to pick and choose what content you should and shouldn't be able to queue for with a penalty.

Except it does use DF. It just doesn't get selected through the DF. It bypasses the selection screen, but shows the Commence screen of the DF. It is still using the same queue system, so those rules apply.

Chocobo raves start at intervals, collecting all humans for that queue at the time of the interval.
Palace of the Dead queues like DF. It isn't the same at all.

You left an instance early and you were warned by the game that there would be a penalty. Suck it up, take the penalty, learn a little something and MOVE ON with your life.

Because you still screwed other people. You say you came in when they all died at 32% and left immediately?

All seriousness out the door at Chocobo Raves and them collecting humans...xD I can't unsee!

I'm a little confused. Prolly because I always forget to queue in progress...But I thought if you joined through in-progress that you could drop without a penalty? Is that only until the party is full?

The only ways to drop without a penalty is if the party isn't full or if a vote to abandon passes.

So if I am understanding what you are saying, you joined a party that was currently engaged with the final boss, and the duty had only 3mins left to complete upon your entering so you left to go do Palace of the dead? Well I find that quite remarkable since the duty finder automatically stops looking for people well before the timer gets that low (to prevent these exact circumstances!) :)

My guess is you popped in didnt like what you were seeing and left in which case you should indeed suffer a penalty and be unable to join in other content until you have done your time out for putting other players into an unfavorable circumstance.

You don't get the penalty if you leave while another member slot is empty.

Maybe it's just me, but the entire topic should have ended with the fact that it's a penalty. The technicalities behind it probably don't mean much to the devs if the entire point is to punish you and make you suffer a consequence, regardless of what it might be (assuming no actual harm is done).
